The friendly, entertaining staff of the Traveler's table made our evening very special by creating an atmosphere that was rather unique. They gave us a culinary feast, an excellent "new" Mexican cuisine, combining intelligently old and new recipees, with right pairing of excellent wines. Yes, we loved their bean soup but most of all we loved the staff's passion to entertain us. Thank you!

This dinner event was the highlight of my trip this year. There is a bit for everyone but what I loved most is the culinary trip through Mexican history. The 5 courses were carefully curated to tell a story and the wine pairings were second to none. Claudia is one of the most lively and entertaining hosts I have met and she graciously took all our questions and sent us the recipes and tequila recommendations the next day. The event and Claudia do a great job of making people feel comfortable so everyone starts chatting and enjoying the atmosphere. I highly recommend to any traveller who enjoys food, culture, and meeting fellow travellers.

I was unsure about going to Travellers Table as I am not a joiner but had a great time. Claudia met us with gusto at the parking area and shepherded us to the beach area while collecting some bubbly on the way. The setting is amazing. Then the announcement that we would be playing a game... wasn't sure about that but it turned out to be testing our ability to differentiate different aromas and and how they related to wine and food tasting. We also got to spend time with other people from around the world. We took a quick course in mixing a mojito for our neighbor which was interesting finding out how picky people can be. The tasting menu consisted of 5 courses which were all excellent, if you are looking for an all you can eat buffet this is not the place for you. The Stone soup was the star of the show along with the 5 chocolate desert. All the courses came with an explanation of the history along with a paired wine. I don't drink but my wife enjoyed the wines with each course and the mezcal to finish up. It truly was a travelers table where we met and shared great food and drink with people from around the world and was well worth the cost.

So thankful for TripAdvisor--we wouldn't have found this without it! We were lucky enough to make a last minute reservation for 4 after thinking we missed out. This experience is worth every penny and we are happy to have some amazing memories to take home with us. From start to finish it was the perfect evening. Shuttle pickup was a breeze. We were joyfully greeted by Claudia and Leon and ushered into a gorgeous beachfront setting where we could get to know the other diners. Loved the intro appetizer and the interactive game was so much fun. Dinner was indescribable....just so delicious, entertaining, and educational. We really appreciated Leon's concept and hope to experience more places like this in our future travels. We left with stuffed bellies and full hearts. Thank you for a most memorable night!

Great evening’s entertainment. On arrival at the restaurant ( it is a long way down a very bumpy road) , we were delighted at the restaurant and the amazing beach setting. We were made to feel extremely welcome and The ice breaker game at the start was a great idea. We were offered course after course of local food and the wine selections to go with each course were amazing. All in all a great evening out - highly recommended.

This was an unplanned addition to our vacation in Puerto Aventuras. My friends and I were squeezed in at the last minute, when normally they can be sold out for days in advance. You arrive at a private beach with a long hut with tables underneath. You're greeted with a glass of champagne, which you drink from a beach chair as you watch the sunset. Then, the adventure begins. Your dinner is narrated and paired. The narration is to explain the cultural and regional significance of each course, explaining the how and why of the preparation and the ingredients. The narration includes a description of the wine pairing for each course. The meal ended with chocolate and tequila, and beautiful moonshine over the water.
If you are adventurous and like trying and tasting new things, this dining experience is definitely worth it!

What a fantastic evening! There were 12 of us in the group, all of whom spoke very good English and included a couple of ladies who work in local hotels selling the excursions, so they were there to experience first hand what they were selling.
We started off with a drink and some appetisers while sitting on the beach watching the last of the sunset and our hostess, Garbi, explained how the evening would work. We then moved over to the covered dining area on the beach. The evening is all about food and drink, and we had a competition to try and identify 20 elements which are found in Mexican wine. We had a list of 40 to choose from but it was still quite difficult. Then it was time for dinner.
The food was absolutely delicious and we were told the history behind the dishes before they were served. We also mixed cocktails ..... for the person sitting next to us! We certainly tried dishes we wouldn't have had anywhere else (but nothing too weird that would put people off) and Garbi emailed us the recipes a few days later.
It was a fun and friendly evening of good food and drinks and I'd highly recommend it. It will make a lovely change from the restaurants in your hotels!

If you are in Playa Del Carmen you absolutely should experience The Traveler’s Table! The setting is beautiful! The food was incredible! Very accommodating on the fly as some of us had restrictions and prepared fresh fish even though it wasn’t on the menu. I cannot believe all that was included for what I felt was a very great price. The Mayan Mojito was fantastic! Terry and the crew were so fun! A walk through culture and history with food. A foodies dream! The turtle nest were an added bonus!

Champaine reception and appetizers on arrival, followed by a game of "what's this scent?" to break the ice. A cocktail preparing class. A five - course menu of delicious food paired with one rose and three red wines, with tequila and mezcal to finish. And all of this accompanied by the very knowledgeable and entertaining guidance of our hostess, Claudia. Thank you for a very unique experience, made possible by the most amazing people who served us with great care!

I feel so incredibly lucky to have stumbled into Leon Lightman’s orbit. His dining experience was absolutely top notch, with high energy, thoughtfulness, vibrant colors and tastes and humor that made every single bite that much more exquisite. I cannot wait to recommend this experience to everyone I know who’s lucky enough to book a table.

My wife and I made our second visit to the Traveler’s Table and had a wonderful time again. Our host Terry along with Eddy, Angel, Nelvia, and of course Chef Edgar treated us so well. Learning about the Mayan culture, the history and cuisine was the most delicious history lesson we’ve ever had. Come hungry and make sure someone else drives you home so you don’t skip all the delicious wine pairings. Highly recommended!

I took my parents to The Traveler's Table over Christmas whilst on holiday as a gift to them, and was quite honestly the highlight of the trip.
Terry is absolutely everything you'd want in a host, and we learnt more about Mayan traditions and history in the few hours with him than we have done on a number of tours around the Yucatan! His welcome really set the tone for the evening, inviting us to collect our waiting flutes of champagne whilst also making it clear we were free to dine barefoot if we wanted.
The two Mauricios and the rest of the staff are so friendly and happy to help however they can. To make an evening run simultaneously like clockwork but feel personal is quite some feat.
And the food that Chef Edgar cooked was absolutely incredible, by quite some distance the best we had in the two weeks we spent in Mexico. The pork in particular was quite simply the best pork I've ever eaten, while the assortment of mini tacos and quesadillas (one wrapped in a leaf) were the course that made you think "I've no idea how they do this but I love it".
The wine is delicious (and really smart pairings, too), and the venue is just incredible.
As my mum said; "there aren't many places where you can eat food this good, looking out at the ocean, with your feet in the sand."
Thank you so much for a wonderful night Terry and co; it was absolutely the high point of our holiday.

Great experience for great memories!
As others mention, they pick you up in vans for a lengthy ride to the beachfront location and the ride is VERY bumpy! If you get motion sickness easily, it is indeed probably a good idea to take Dramamine, and also go to the bathroom before the ride or you'll be uncomfortable as a few people were.
They created the experience to be interactive and educational, as well as fun. When you arrive, they offer you a welcome drink and then you are seated. You make a Mezcal based cocktail with local ingredients that they tell you about. It was delicious as was the rest of the meal. It was five courses, designed by a chef on Master Chef Spain, who created the recipes to reflect local ingredients and history of the Yucatán which our host told us about. Each course was flavorful, and well executed and presented. The wine pairings were good too.
It really was a fabulous experience and great value. Terry, Pablo, Chef Edgar, David and Carmen and the support staff provided excellent service and an evening to remember.
Do take some cash to tip the staff as it is not included in the price of the ticket.
The only thing I would change, they understandably can't change yet. You sit with your partner or own group at separate tables. I'm sure it was
originally designed for everyone to sit together at one or two tables but alas, COVID. You can chat with the tables next to you but hopefully they'll be able to go back to the larger group seating one day.
Overall a must, especially if you're a foodie! Highly recommended.

A truly hidden gem. We had such an amazing meal and experience at our travelers table visit. It's located just adjacent to a beautiful beach and seating is outdoors where you can enjoy the warm, comfortable night with the ocean breeze. Our meal guide, Terry, and chef, Edgar, both did a fantastic job walking us through each course and giving an in depth look at cuisine from Mayan culture. Every course was simply delicious. If you are every in the area, would highly recommend having dinner here on your stay, you won't regret it.

If you are looking for a culinary adventure (both location and food wise) The Traveler's Table will fit the bill. It is located on a secluded stretch of beach off the beaten path. Our host, Terry (and staff), was very informative with his explanations of the food that we were experiencing and if you have questions will gladly come to your table and explain further. The food pairings were unique and delicious. For foodies this should be added to your list of places to experience.
The only minor negative for us was the traffic getting to destination otherwise a fun and worthwhile excursion.
