We visited Jellyfish on the last night of our 14 night stay in the Dominican Republic, as a break from the all-inclusive restaurants at our resort, the Melia Caribe. It’s a short walk along the beach; we were met with a neon lit outdoor dining...area and a very unique structure (the restaurant). Our food was delicious, the service efficient and friendly. Seafood is their specialty but pasta was on the menu for our kids. Great cocktails and beautiful surroundings. Highly recommended!More

We had the seafood platter when we visited. Both me and my partner were in heaven. It was unbelievable. It was massive in size and contained every type of seafood imaginable with sides too! It's more than big enough to not order sides, dessert or...starter. The quality was sublime as well though! We felt like a king or queen. I think this platter was 85USD but between 2 people for what we got I think it's actually tremendous value! We still talk about this meal now 4 months later - hence why I'm writing this review!More

Great food! Don’t go here if you’re not willing to pay some money for authentic seafood. Average is about $35 per entree. Scenery is beautiful and food is fresh.

Gorgeous restaurant and beach venue. Food quantity is very inconsistent. We went there twice during our 3 week stay there. The first visit we were a party of 6. 3 of us had grilled shrimp, one lambí creole, one calamari and one had the ribeye....We also ordered tempura shrimp and other apps. Portions were huge. The tempura shrimp had at least 12-14 pieces. The ribeye was massive. We went back on 7/14 and it was a different story. Ordered calamari and tempura shrimp for apps. There were 6 shrimps and about half the calamari. The ribeye was half the size and the same price. It was also not a ribeye but some other cut One of us asked for fish for one person- a one pound fish. They have him a 3lb fish and charged us $63 for it! Didn’t even say the smaller fish was not available. Despite it being a lovely location being ripped off is not worth it. We won’t be back and recommend others go to Noah.More

A lovely restaurant situated directly on the beach. The menu offered a wide range of different seafood dishes, and a good selection of drinks and cocktails. The service was friendly and not too intrusive, so as a couple we liked this. We got lobster with...garlic butter and the garlic shrimp. Both were fresh and very tasty, prawns in all honesty were a little over but still tasty. Would recommend if you fancy getting out the all inclusive hotel for some different scenery and tasty seafood!More

Simple amazing. Wide selection. Amazing food and drinks! And the spot is absolutely beautiful! Right on the beach you can see the sand and water from your table! Staff was very friendly and we had live entertainment. Two guys walked around with guitars and played...music and took requests! One of the other customers they actually let him take the guitar and he started playing and singing with them! I would def go here again and I wish I had found it in the beginning of my trip.More

I heard some many great things about the Jellyfish restaurant so I decided to make a reservation. We were seated immediately. I love the local band coming to each table to perform and asked what type of music we liked. I didn't like the fact...that it seemed like the waiter was trying to upsell us on more expensive items on the menu. I asked for the fish, they were out, I asked for something else, they were out. He always circled back around to the most expensive lobster. The waiter also rushed us to order and said that he was expecting a large party to be arriving. We were at the restaurant for two hours and no large party came. The restaurant is beautiful and I would love to give them another try when I visit the island again.More

It looks beautiful, but we were disappointed in the service. Asked for a presidente, got a warm warm beer. worst thing you could serve on the beach. Brought us an ice bucket for it. it never got cold by the time we finished eating, thats...how warm it was. Asked for fried fish and they only had 8lb fish. How is it thats all u have, really? Service was slow and nonchalant. We ordered the octopus, and it was nothing special. ran out of there hungry and thirsty.More

I celebrated my marriage in Jellyfish (the reception). What a wedding! It was perfect and I am happy my husband found this restaurant. It had all elements we wanted for our wedding. Here the details: for the coordination, the communication was mainly by emails because...I live outside DR; of course they offered me video calls whenever I required (I only did one for my first call). The communication was easy and prompt. The wedding coordinator had good proposals of the decoration that aligned with my vision of the wedding. We had a tasting day where we tried the menu and drinks to be offered at the wedding. All was delicious. At the weeding day my guests shared the same opinion. Everything was good. Wedding day: The night before the wedding, I was notified that the access for my makeup artist to enter the Airbnb was denied. My husband reached out Jellyfish for help and they offered us a room they have for this purpose. Thanks Jellyfish for that :D!! The decoration was magnifique! I loved it. My husband, family and friends loved it too. The cake was not only beautiful but also tasty. The waiters were respectful, friendly and keen to help in whatever needed. I had 2 ladies that went to the church to help me with everything. Glad I had them there too. I can’t say enough to thank the team. It is only 1 day in a life time and it was perfect. Thank you to the whole team in Jellyfish. For sure I will come back to eat there for the “souvenir”.More

Beautiful setting, we went along to have an evening outside of our resort and had quite high hopes. Unfortunately our food wasn't great in the end, there was a wedding taking place at the same time as we ate so I imagine that the kitchen...was quite stretched. Our food was a little cold and our fish (which we were excited about) was quite tough. Hopefully it was just an off night as the place is really pretty and it is so nice to spend a little time outside of the resorts!More

We have been trying to plan our wedding with Jellyfish for months now. They were initially good to deal with..until they took our deposit.. After our money was locked in with them they forgot about us. Our initial contact was Farah - the group coordinator....Her job was to book the day we wanted and transfer us over to the wedding planning team. She quickly became our only point of contact with them. She answered our questions to the best of her abilities, but had very limited knowledge since the planning portion is outside of her realm. We kept being told to wait for Gianna from decor to contact us. We were told that we would get prioritized closer to our set date, but by mid April we still had no reply from anyone for specifics of our day. After weeks of unanswered emails from the wedding team and time running out, we called our wedding planner, who called Jellyfish and told them we were ready to walk away if we didnt get details immediately (we were now 4 weeks out with 45 people flying in from all over the world). Immediately after this call, Gianna finally called me. It felt rushed and she seemed annoyed that she had to do so. We had a discussion of the basics, and she ended with: send me an email of what you want and questions you have and we will discuss further. This followup never happened as of May 1. And only after threatening to walk away with 4 weeks to go were we put into contact with what I can only describe as the rudest, least helpful planner ever. She resent us the contract that we already had and said you can see what is offered in the package. We wanted our ceremony at 2-3:30 to have time for photos with all 45 guests and freshen up at our resort next door before dinner. We were told they could not accommodate this since they have no staff at this time, and were made to feel stupid for even suggesting it because the wedding planner has "never seen this before", and that it was unheard of to want a mid day ceremony. After a lot of persistence on my end, Farrah changed the time and we realized it is not an issue of no staff but that they restrict all weddings to 5.5 hours. You get 30 min ceremony, directly leads into cocktail hour, 1 hr dinner, 3 hrs reception. After this, the cost per to keep your party going is your alcohol selection per person per hour, so for us $17*45 per hour.. It seems they just expect you to show up and hope that it's done to your expectation. without giving you the opportunity to communicate what this looks like to you. If you want anything outside of their usual, you will not be able to get a hold of anyone to make this happen. If you have any questions, good luck getting answers. We kept trying to make it work with them, and hoping that they would contact us closer to as promised. I sent an email on April 11th to Gianna after our phone call to ask for more details, we are now 2 weeks out from our scheduled wedding day and still have not heard back.. We called a different location that was willing to drop everything to accommodate us on such short notice. Sad to see such a beautiful venue run so poorly.More
