Glad this place is still going. Always our first stop for food when we visit Shaxi. Pesto pasta, potato pizza, and delicious salad. Good local wine selection. No beer, but BYO was fine. Another lovely meal at the Buddha!

every dish was excellent - top quality. As someone mentioned the Shangrila white wine is a winner - served by the generous glass - refreshing mineral, bit short on the aftertaste but great potential Give the sparkling rice wine a miss (it does not sparkle)....Portions are small and it is slow - i advise to order 50% more than you need - by the time it arrives you will want it. Take a book - i guess the wait is about 30mins, the ladies make no effort to supply you with nibblesMore

Lovely outdoor terrace and quaint indoor space. We were surprised to find this chic gem with delicious pizza that happens to be vegan. The Shangri-la white wine was a refreshing change from the other beverages we've had on our trip. Highly recommend this sumptuous spot...when you need a break from time and travels.More

I am not vegan but thoroughly enjoyed the freshly prepared food at the Hungry Buddha. I had a vegan pizza (my first!) and the vegan tiramisu. Both were different but delicious none-the-less. The space is beautiful and a comfortable place to relax. The open kitchen...is the heart of the restaurant and you can watch your food being prepared from scratch. The staff is kind and accommodating.More

One of my most enduring memories of this lovely town is time spent over dinner at the Hungry Buddha in May 2017. A perfect end to our sightseeing day in Shaxi. The excellent food, wine, company and authentic flavours made this intimate restaurant the cream...on top. Hope you’re still making flavours sing in Yunnan. I have to start by saying: I am not a vegan and, I have been living in China for the past 2 years. Having said that, the porcini pizza is the best pizza I have ever eaten in China, whether with meat or without. We...also had the porcini soup, which was absolutely amazing. The quinoa burger was okay. Do be prepared to wait for your food, as they make everything fresh in front of your eyes. We were with a family of 7 and spent 2 hours here. Thx for the great experience!More

We just ate in this pizza restaurant and ordered Mushroom Pizza. The taste is interesting for the remote area in China. I can say the taste is comparable with the taste of pizza in the upper class restaurant in the big city. Nice!

Hungry Buddha is an amazing place where to stop, for multiple reasons: the staff is really, really nice, the food is absolutely delicious, and made in a way that makes you think that cooking is a real art, and the place is beautiful, you feel...very good, and you just want to spend hours in this great place, with lovely people and very tasty dishes! We came here based on a review in the lonely planet and were not disappointed. The food was so delicious and tasted so fresh. We had a mixed vegetable salad with beetroot mayo and a pizza topped with fresh vegetables and vegan mozzarella. It was...a nice change from Chinese food and even though we are meat eaters we really didn't miss the meat. Everything was prepared in front of us and was beautifully presented. We highly recommend Hungry Buddha.More

We came here for the unusual specialties but they dont serve it anymore. The pizza are ok but well overpriced. The vegan mozzarella isn’t very tasty.
