The restaurant is located in Tenjin area, near the Bic-camera shops. There's not table service, you have just to order your meal at the machine in the entrance and to give the ticket to the staff. Often it's possible to find a queue or already full during the eating time between 12:30 and 14:00 because there are just few sittings available by the way, the tasty food let you forget about this...

We spent 2-weeks driving round Kyushu and this was the first and best ramen we ever had in Kyushu. Tucked round a small shop space in the side street we missed it the first time round despite seeing people queuing and came back after our short detour to visit other places of interest. The queue was always there, even in the rain but moves along. The pictures on the facade already tells you what you want to have for the meal. Once inside there's another queue after placing your order on the machine to be seated and the ramen comes after another short wait. The wait is worth it when the ramen arrives with the aroma of the thick broth simmered for a very long time. Oily but tasty and just nice textured noodle. Portion could have been bigger but all the same it was well balanced and very tasty. One can either order the ramen or have a ramen, fried rice and gyoza set.

Two of us visited this place on our way back from an izakaya. It was a holiday so it was crowded and we had to queue, but the turnover was good so we only had to wait about 10 minutes to get in. We had ramen, which was really delicious. The soup was rich with pork bones but not heavy. Ramen after drinking is exceptional. There are many famous ramen shops in Hakata and Tenjin in Fukuoka, but this is one place we would like to visit again.

Give this place a try. You might be waiting outside for a little bit due to how small the restaurant is, but just wait... it is so worth it. As soon as you walk in, there’s a machine where you put in your order and pay. After that you are taken to your seat and then they are able to make your ramen while you are getting settled in. The Shoyu Tonkotsu Ramen was so good. It was perfectly salty and the broth was very tasty. I highly recommend getting this one. The Mukashi Ramen was also good as the broth is a bit creamier. I still liked it and would definitely get it again. If you run out of noodles and still have broth, there is an option to get more noodles for ¥130.

The tourist office in Tenjin will give you a sheet with about 9 possible Hakata Ramen shops in the neighbourhood. After a bit of shopping at Loft, I was closest to number 7, Taiho Ramen, so I turned down the side street and tried to find it and failed at first, because it's just behind the corner of another smaller side street; but totally authentic-looking. I wasn't disappointed by the ramen, which floated in a rich, porky broth that was delicious. You pay for your bowl before you order by means of a machine that has pictures and descriptions of each variant. Present your ticket to a waiter, and your bowl of ramen will arrive very soon.

This is tucked away on the side streets, but not hard to spot since it's the first stall around the corner. The noodles are standard, and are not as firm. Soup is pretty good in richness without being too salty. I find their egg lacks the standard of a good ramen though. Would say it's above average but wouldn't call it exceptional.

Best part of Taiho ramen is the soup. Delicious. Noodles are a bit thinner than other places, but quite good. Pork is sliced thinner than I like, but the flavor of the soup makes up for that. Great atmosphere, fun place to go.

Soup base and noodles are good, but you only get a slice of egg and 2 thin chashu. Dumplings are tiny like a quail egg. Which is a lot smaller than other Ramen restaurants which serves it in larger quantities, like serving large dumplings that you could find easily in Fukuoka. But if we spend a bit more money and it means larger quantities, I think it's worth it than having small food for a cheaper price.

This ramen spot is different from all the others in a good way! The fatty pork broth with crunchy pork bits was superb and the only ramen shop I've tried that has this! Condiments were also available..make sure to put lots of garlic, sesame seeds and a bit of ginger. Would definitely come back!

Ramen slightly above average, the soup was thin on the top and very grainy on the bottom. The noodles had a similar texture and taste to the ones you buy in a Japanese supermarket. The extra "tamago" egg I ordered for my soup was ice cold - personally I prefer it to be same temperature as the soup.

For locals, it is not Ippudo that has the best Tonkotsu Ramen but rather Kurume Taiho's Tonkotsu Ramen is the top choice. Though the main ramen shop is located in Kurume City south of Fukuoka, this place did not fail to meet expectations. Chose the Mukashi Ramen with pork cracklings, the broth was truly marvelous and is the tonkotsu soup I will be wanting to eat more. As with Fukuoka, you can choose the firmness of your ramen from soft to hard, and local's top select is either katame or barikata. You can also ask for additional ramen noodles as refill if you feel the noodles were not enough.

We do not think the ramen here was good. The broth tasted a bit strange and the noodles were very ordinary. I have not tried Taiho's original restaurant in Kurume but this one is definitely bad. If the one in Kurume is good then this store is just riding on the brand name. I think that even the ramen we ate at the highway rest stops all over Kyushu tasted better than this.

Husband and I ate dinner here at about 7pm. Enjoyed wonderful ramen and gyoza. dress yours up with some of the extras on the table (chili oil, ginger, garlic, sesame seeds) and you'll be amazed anything this "cheap" could be oh so good! In the United States ramen gets a bum rap (the food of poor college students and kind of disrespectful) but if we could have ramen this good I'd eat it every day! Don't be afraid if you don't speak Japanese. You'll order by purchasing tickets from a vending machine (pictures!) and the staff are very willing to help you get what you want. High quality broth, excellent employees, and the option for another portion of noodles if you save your broth is super! Got Ramen?

Visited as a couple for lunch on a Saturday. As described in the name, this restaurant is located in Tenjin. It is pretty easy to find, just off a bridge connecting Tenjin to Nakasu. Taiho is a prestigious ramen chain in Kyushu originating from Kurume. Because of its popularity, they opened a store in Fukuoka, saving travellers the need to make an extra trip down to Kurume just to try it. I've never tried the original stores in Kurume, but figured I'd see what its all about via their store in Fukuoka. The venue is typical of trendy ramen restaurants; noisy, exciting, and extremely high turnover. When we arrived right around noon, there restaurant was maybe a quarter full or so, but within half an hour a queue had formed. Like many ramen restaurants, Taiho takes order via machine. Prices are pretty reasonable and you get served quick. They've a pretty decent offering of sides and combos for a Ramen store as well. To me the highlight of this ramen was in the tonkotsu soup. It is deeply flavored and rich, even a bit on the heavy side. The noodles were kind of average, the condiments were good though pork a bit fat (some might like it). Enjoyed the gyoza, which wasn't too greasy as some ramen places tend to fry them. Overall, good chain Ramen store, though nothing out of the ordinary on the menu here. If you're just looking for a classic Kyushu style tonkotsu ramen, this is a good choice.

Recommended by locals for the best of the local specialty Ramen Noodles. A small corner shop on the main street used by the locals for quick good value meals. Ordering is done from a vending machine with small pictures. The locals were very helpful interpreting for us. We visited here twice for lunch during our time in Fukuoka. Both times were great food and good value.
