Relatives that live in Oratino and know well the place hosted us at this restaurant set in a medieval castle at the center of this beautiful historic village. We were a group of seven and opted for a series of tastings which included local traditional...dishes such as "cacio e ova" (cheese and egg balls), "pizza e minestra" (greens with corn flour pizza"), as well as antipasto of grilled caciocavallo cheese paired with prosciutto, fruit, nut or mushroom. We also ordered the house specialty of farmer's fried potatoes and a tasting size of fresh spaghetti with mushrooms. The white and red wine we chose to accompany our meal was served in a liter size glass decanter. We ended our meal with the house selection of desserts and a glass of genziana (liquor drink with extracts from the gentian plant). The meal from beginning to end was a true delight for the eyes and the palate in a stunning decor. Service was assured by friendly and competent staff including the owner; the restaurant is owned and operated by a couple (the wife, wine sommeliere, was absent that evening). This is definitely a must return location.More
