Nice to have a change from Taiwanese cuisine so we tried this restaurant. It was quite a downer that they use regular rice to make risotto. The taste was great though.

the food here is sooo bad. we went in because of the dog, but the food was just so bland and tasteless..
We came to this restaurant because we had eaten at the other Risotto location and enjoyed it--and the sweet young Golden Retriever who we met there. The staff at the other location told us that an older Retriever lived in this location, so we came...here to see him. The food here was the same as the other location--risotto with a choice of different sauces and meats, along with different side dishes--but the setting is a bit more cramped than the other location. And, sorry to say, the staff is not as nice as the other location (that's why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5). But the resident canine is a really good fellow. We heard he is 17 years old. He moves a bit slowly, but he is quite friendly and seemed to enjoy posing for pictures.More
There is a dog in the restaurant that belongs to the place. We were 4 people and we called the waiter to just take the dog away from the door because one of us was scared of dogs. The waitress was very rude and said...the dog will stay in the shop regardless, As if saying we don’t care about you entering or not. Very disrespectful. Staff’s attitude was very rude not welcoming at all. The food was acceptable overall but the soup was so diluted, the attitude kind of ruined our meal Ps. The waitress even raised her voice at the costumersMore
The set comes with rice, soup, milk tea and garlic bread..soup, milk tea and garlic bread are very nice but the rice taste average only.most important able to see the dog roaming around the restaurant certainly made the atmosphere pretty enjoyable..
Everyone in this place especially the waitress has such bad attitude that one would think you owe them something. Quite unbelievable such a long time restaurant in the busiest Taipei tourist spot Ximending is this awful. Food taste way below average too. Maybe Taiwan tourism...authority should look into encouraging better service standards at tourist spots. The service and warmth of Taiwan has dropped drastically from 6 years agoMore
I don't usually write food review during im eating. But this one i have to make an exception. This is the most bad tasting risotto ive ever tasted. It's not even a risotto. Their staff are lazy and incompetent. Don't f%#*n eat here!!!
The border shepherd did attract me to go in this restaurant for lunch. Many choices in menu, and the price is quite reasonable, even everyone should order set with either 3-course or 4-course during weekend. Though the food was not really special, the service was...satisfactory..More
Serves up to 10 types of different flavor risotto. I tried the pesto clam risotto and the ah mao signature sauce risotto. Both are pretty average. The set comes with a soup and drink...but the soup is really bad. The dog can be seen roaming...around the restaurant. It's very tamed and likeable.More
I came with my family of 8 - 1 pregnant lady and a 9 Mth old baby. We were looking for a place to have brunch and unfortunately the place wasn't open. Checked with the staff for opening hours which she half heartedly told us...the time. We waited for 30 mins for them to open. The staff took her time knowing that we were waiting outside. Finally when the store opened she then told us due to the weekend we had to order 7 combo set meals (main course, dessert, drinks and soup). We were willing to wait and willing to spend but we don't need the attitude from you at the start of the day.More
This restaurant attracts quite a number of guests because of their Golden Retriever Ah Mao that always stations there. The quality of risottos is good in terms of the choices of ingredients, portion size and price. Their desserts are also of above average standard. Waiters...and waitresses are young, energetic and friendly.More
Whenever I miss my golden retriever at home, I would just go here to pet and just watch the cute golden dog. However, keep in mind and please respect the dog since he sometimes can get exhausted fromm all of the attention that he/she receives...during the day. The food is so-so and not that cheap either. But the dog is definitely a plus!More
We wanted a quick dinner after shopping. The owners have a few restaurants in the area and the first one was full, so he took us over to the Risotto restaurant, where Ah Mao's wife presides. Ah Mao and Ah Mao's wife are both golden...retrievers and very cute. The logo and wall murals all are cartoons of Ah Mao. Food is decent and fast and gluten free is available (rice dishes).More
Honestly, I would not have stopped for this restaurant, if not for that fluffy cute golden retriever, which has the most innocent, sad, puppy eyes. It was lunch time and my first in Ximen Ding, I didn't know what to eat and was strolling around,...then I heard the sound of dog barks and our eyes met. I am not even a fan of risotto, but for the dog, I gave it a try. There wasn't much crowd because I was there around noon. But when I past by again later that afternoon, the restaurant was quite packed. The adorable golden retriever lazily laid at the entrance of the shop, oblivious to the customers petting it or snapping pictures with it. It was like the star of the restaurant. Surprisingly, I liked the food, I ordered the spicy clams risotto (which I could choose the level of spiciness), and it turned out quite cheesy and flavorful. I enjoyed the lunching experience, but I must say, this place is unsuitable for the hygiene freaks, because the staff would hug and pet the dog and then serve you your food without washing their hands. I don't really mind, but I know many people might have issue with this. To sum things up, this is a dog lovers MUST GO type of restaurant, but if you aren't, then this place would probably not appeal to you.More
I liked this place a lot. The food was secondary to us as we wanted to sit with the dogs. They are very friendly and you are allowed to pet and cuddle them. Mostly they are not on a leash and they seem to be...quite happy with someone walking them every hour or two. The dish was alright. We had mushroom risotto and one with chorizo. I liked it. It was good value and filling. Overall a good place where I will definely go again when back in TaipeiMore
