"Supermac's" is Ireland's (attempted) answer to "McDonald's", mimicking the long-established, highly-successful range of "Convenience Food" that the "Golden Arches" people have - impressively - offered for so long. The distinctive difference is, it would seem, to deliberately go more "downmarket", with extremely basic surroundings, disorganised (somewhat intimidating) Queues, very limited staff numbers (language difficulties & lots of shouting are noticeable), and a "Food Offering" which is, let's honestly say, less than average to experience. Overall, this is the ultimate achievement of a "No Frills" approach - "McDonalds" is positively luxurious, and - in our experience - actually enjoyable, in severe contrast with "Supermac's"! This particular Outlet in Ballinalack is on the N4 Road from Longford (where's there's an absolutely excellent "McDonald's"), in a Service Station, which also has a quite impressive "Centra" convenience store. With a bit of effort, we got a "Mighty Mac Meal" + a Plain Burger, struggled back through the Queue to secure Teas at a self-service island, and found somewhere to sit. The "Mighty Mac" Burger was reasonably tasty, but the other Burger was definitely overcooked, and just about edible - the Fries/Chips were utterly tasteless. We've eaten in Cafes/Restaurants at all levels, and for us, the critical question is : do they do a reasonably good job at the level at which they pitch themselves? Not here....

I've stopped here a few times when journeying through the region en route to Sligo or Longford. It's right on the main road to/From Dublin and there is loads of parking. It's a bustling place with a big filling station and convenience store and a small food court where Supermacs and Papa John's is as well as a deli counter and a place that does carvery dinners. Plenty of seating, well lit, modern and comfortable. The food is good but it's a standard Supermacs fast food menu, no different to any other branch. Still, the staff were friendly and efficient, the place was clean and I enjoyed a good meal.

Like many road side stops this restaurant cum shop has a deli and supermacs. Busy today with many of the tables filled with family groups. Kids with burgers parents with dinners or salads. Well stocked shop and clean toilets make this a good stop off place

Was here 3+ times. Absolutely appalling service every single time. One time I was Waiting at the drive through speaker 15+ minutes with no one infront of me. One time my order was wrong at the drive through again and I noticed straight away so I waited at the window so I could tell the lady when she came back. I was looking inside for ages and the place literally looked deserted. Not one person walked past and I had to resort to shouting in the window to get someone’s attention which I felt very rude doing but it had to be done because I could literally see no one. After I finally got someone’s attention I could hear them going back and laughing to their colleagues about me. And another time I got garlic fries and they couldn’t even bother to close the box. Another time I got the chicken sandwich and the chicken was the dryest I’ve ever had from supermacs and barely any lettuce on it.

This place is absolutely disgusting, managers should be ashamed. I stopped off for food and I was in the line for supermacs staff completely ignored me and talked about there night out and how they didn’t care about coming into work because the manager (they mentioned a havi?) absolutely sick behaviour

Had lunch in Mace today while having a business meeting with a colleague. As we had alot to cover we lost track of time. Both of us were on our laptops when a gentleman came to our table with a packet of buns and said its a while since ye had lunch ladies so ye might like another cupa. We both said we were fine but he insisted we had to have one for the road and refused to take money. We were both so touched by this lovely gesture and will certainly be back again soon. Thank you so much to this perfect gentleman who made our day.

Supermacs is always hit and miss, I think the closer you get to the west of Ireland the better they tend to be. The ones in Dublin are pretty dire, while this one in Ballinalack is pretty good to be honest. Service is good, and the burger is always FANTASTIC. But I have decided I with good conscious can no longer support Pat McDonagh and his fast food chain Supermacs. It was bad enough he came over all slimy during Divoc, but now with the news he is part of the plantation of Ireland, I can no long patronize such a joint. The sleeveen can count his 30 pieces.....and to hell with him......

Stopped here, today, Sunday 3rd March at 3pm.. had to join a Q for 20 mins to be told ‘there’s a 15 minute wait from the chicken’. This is the 3rd Sunday since beginning January that we had to Q and wait. When asked why they hadn’t cooked enough chicken we were told ‘we weren’t expecting a crowd’. There WAS NO crowd.... it was sheer inefficiency. We will not be back

Perfect offering for the weary driver, great food selection, quick , efficient service. The only slight drawback is getting in and out due to the busy busy road. If your hungry then this place has something for everyone, reasonably priced. Stop, fill and chill before continuing your journey.
