We were visiting the Abbey and spoke to a local lady who had had a swim in the lake. She recommended B&B to us "your in for a special treat". Its was super, the coffee, soup & sandwich. The lady serving us was so nice, she chatted to us and offered a tour of the distillery. Our bonus tour was so interesting we sampled golden rum & poitin. Great job B & B your a hidden gem.

We had great time in the distillery and lovely lunch. The tour was very good and we learn a lot about the rum and poitin. We tried different rum, my favorite one is with coffee. The owners were lovely and very nice. We got sandwiches and lovey coffee, the view from the top floor was very nice, we did not care it was raining. Thank you for a tour and warm welcoming.

Had not taken breakfast here before so did it this time! It did not disappoint. Full Irish with two sausages, two bacon, white and black pudding, hash, beans toast and coffee. Got a seat by the window this time…a first! Again service excellent!

Lovely little setting but the food is really awful. We were met by a bored looking lady who i think was also the manager. We had some toasted sandwiches that left a lot to be desired and a couple of tiny bowls of undercooked chips that they charged us €4 each for. So disappointing. This place won't last long if things don't improve drastically.

Decided to drop in for a coffee and cake / sandwiches after mass at local church. We were a group of around 15. After ordering we were confronted by a very rude manager who told us we should have booked in advance. The place was not busy, it was just that they were understaffed. The manager made us feel very unwelcome and was blaming us for putting them in a difficult situation. Left without drinks and food. Will not be visiting again.

Went yesterday for a day out with my friends and our children. was met and rushed out the door straight away by the very rude owner who told us we were sitting outside. Assuming she did not want kids in the building , we sat outside. Staff kept staring out the window at us and then they took the speir chairs in so our kids could not sit at them. Ordered 3 full Irish breakfast, beans were freezing hash browns were not cooked , eggs were burned to a crisp. Kids ordered chips and chips came out uncooked so when I said it to the owner ,I can honestly say it was the rudest encounter Ive experienced with a business owner , very angry and did not want to hear any of it. Laughed at me and continued to be rude. I will never again go back and would definitely not recommend .The owner needs to get herself and her young waitress some training .I will say if you decide to go deal with Sandra The waitress She was very nice and understanding about the situation.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're genuinely sorry to hear that your visit did not meet your expectations. We want to clarify that you were not forced to sit outside; the option was provided based on our seating availability at the time. Our intention was certainly not to make anyone feel unwelcome, especially children, and we apologize if this is how the option was perceived. We understand that you had concerns about your meal, and while we're glad to hear you spoke with Sandra, we want to emphasize that the owner took your feedback in a sincere manner and did not charge you for the breakfast in question. It's important to note that nearly all the food was eaten, which suggested to us that it was not of the same poor quality as described, but we are always open to feedback on how we can improve. We take all customer feedback seriously and will use this as an opportunity to improve our service. We're sorry that your experience was not what you had hoped for and appreciate your understanding. We urge you to give the café another try at your own discretion and upon taking your feedback on board.

Cannot see why the review from Sophie M was so bad. I have been coming here regularly for three years almost making a round trip of 30 mikes time. I have never found fault with the place and I am a hard man to please if you read the rest of my reviews😎 I was here again today and again it did not disappoint. I will continue to support this excellent endeavour. Well done Sheena, Sandra and staff

Found this by accident while chatting to a local on a walk around Fore Priory, while staying nearby for the All Ireland fleadh. Such a lovely little coffee house , food too and their Fore distillery attached. Coffee was lovely, I couldn’t get a seat by the window as there were other people there but the view was out onto a lake. The staff were so friendly. Sheena and her husband own the distillery, a new business making Irish rum and Irish poitin! I had your around the distillery and learned about malting, still pot and coffee pot! I had a taste of the rims and the poitin, and a taste of a Belfast coffee which had the poitin in it. It takes time to make a good rum! Definitely worth visiting …

We were recommended to visit for a light lunch. The proprietors were very friendly and food & coffee were first class. Got an amazing tour of the distillery by the proud owner. Had to buy a bottle it was so good. Definatly recommend a stopover here. It is beside Fore Abbey, an historical story about the 7 wonders.

We have been to Barrel and Bean quite a few times for coffee and cake. The owner is friendly and chatty - even introduced us to their distillery. The view sitting upstairs is lovely and a wonderful place to spend time enjoying one of their lovely cakes. It’s family friendly and close to Fore for walks around the abbey.

This is a lovely cafe in the middle of nowhere which we discovered by accident. Lovely people running it who will show you round the distillery if you so wish. I believe the end product is rum. The cafe is lovely and well worth a visit with lovely views from the upstairs window.

What an amazing place Barrel n Bean is! The setting is heaven; the decor is artistic and thoughtful; the atmosphere is fantastic. The music they play is incredible. But, for me the thing that really makes this place a must visit is the people. Friendly, helpful, considerate, generous… something that is in short supply in this country. Sheena, Sandra and all the girls could not be nicer. It is a pleasure to spend time in their company. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you about the coffee… the coffee is da business. If you can find fault with this beautiful coffee shop, I respectfully suggest that the fault is within YOU.
