We stayed at Atelier and ate at Maria Dolores one evening to celebrate my birthday. We received 50% off as hotel guests. The food, drinks, and service were excellent! We basically had a multi-course gourmet meal and were surprised by the great value based on what we ended up spending. The servers were very attentive and had great knowledge of the menu. We spent a couple of hours there and enjoyed the whole experience. Thank you!

We were staying in the Atelier for a couple of weeks and if honest there was no need to pay extra to dine here as the food included is very good standard but if not very modern. The first time we went we chose the tasting menu at around £55. Lots of interesting dishes and many using native ingredients. Some outstanding, some very good only one not to our taste (truffle oil no need) The restaurant is more like a European one or two star Michelin establishment and the addition of the fantastic harpest was a real bonus. We enjoyed so much we went another 2 times. We ate ala carte on those occasions and the extra cost is £30-£40 depending on what you ordered. These dishes were what we thought standout. The onion soup with beef jelly, soft shell crab with hand made tacos, duck and beef short rib mains. Lastly the lemon with samphire was one of our top ten desserts in 40 years of dining. I also over this trip have discovered some lovely Mexican wines. Spend £30-£40 and you will find some world class wines. I will do a review on the hotel and include the wine list in pictures. Just a couple of points for the restaurant to think about. More choice of wines by the glass (maybe invest in a coravin) if you don't think you would sell quickly enough and if eating ala carte a small pre app from the chef would nice before your appetizer arrives. Lastly the team. Lovely people trying to introduce something new into the local area. Roger looked after us mainly. A true gent and a great knowledge about wine and food. I wish you guys the best of luck and hopefully this well deserved review will help!

One word, Jorge! This gentleman was next level. From start to finish he was so helpful in explaining every dish from ingredients to how it was prepared. Lets just say our wine glasses were never empty. And the ambiance was amazing. Who doesn't love a harpist. After dinner we enjoyed a complimentary coffee and cappuccino.

We visited this restaurant 3 times in the two weeks we stayed at the Atelier resort. Once we went for the tasting menu. It's interesting and different and delicious - light and often plant-based, and includes one of my top ten ever desserts. It's a lemon, basil and samphire dish which sounds unusual but tastes incredible. On our other two visits we went a la carte and were equally impressed. My particular favourites were. the onion soup and the duck dish. The staff here are all very welcoming, discretely attentive and informed. Frank and Roger stood out as particularly great. A further bonus was the amazingly talented harpist playing on the balcony above. This restaurant is an oasis of peaceful, deliciousness. Feels indulgent but is actually very very reasonably priced. Fully recommended

Maria Dolores is the definition of a fine-dining experience. The ambiance, food, drinks, and service are all exceptional. You'll find wonderfully prepared, beautifully-plated, and smaller portions at this restaurant which means you can order something for each course and not be overeating. The service provided by Silvestre and Xiunely was superb! We loved their recommendations. Definitely try the various exclusive cocktails offered only at Maria Dolores. We ended up enjoying the meal so much that we went back a second time! You will not be disappointed with a dinner here.

We had a fantastic night at Maria Dolores restaurant. From beginning to end, the service was top notch. Staff is so attentive and their coordination and manners kept us in awe all night. The food is fantastic , beautifully presented, delicious and original. We thought the prices were really doable for this kind of culinary experience.

Maria Dolores was a first class culinary experience start to finish. From the service with multiple servers assisting our main server, Roger, live Harp music, ambiance, and outstanding food. We were amazed by our dinner experience and returned the following evening. Roger had arranged for the Harpist to come in early especially for us! The tasting menu paired with wines of Mexico was absolutely sensational! Dinner at Maria Delores is a must when visiting Atelier Playa Mujeres - Cancun!

This has to be the best service we received by the wait staff. Andres was amazing and took care of us for three hours as we enjoyed a 12 course meal! Thank you Andres!! The starters, tostadas, and tacos are meant for 1 person. The main courses are portioned well, however we ordered 2 each!! Pros: the drinks were crafted well and each course was brought out at the same time. There was a rhythm in each of the wait staff as they served you together. Every dish was curated and detailed. The drinks were replenished before you even finished. The desserts were impeccable! Seating arrangements were comfortable and ambience relaxed. The main dishes were the best! The shrimp was grilled to perfection, the filet was perfect temperature, the short rib melted in your mouth and the carnitas were superb. Cons: If we had to nit pick, the starters were too salty for our tasting. The mole, the beef tartar, the tortilla chips, with truffle burrata was a bit too salty especially the mole on the carnitas. This was a superb evening and the dishes were executed! Andres our server made our night and we enjoyed every minute of our what it felt like was a 12 course tasting menu!!

We’re staying at Hotel Atelia Playa Mujeres and made a reservation to come eat here at Maria Dolores. It was one of the few restaurants that required a reservation here and I see why: the only thing better than this meal was the service. Our server was Andres, and he was friendly, conversational, and funny. From placing napkins on our laps (with tongs) to explaining the culture behind of some of the dishes we tasted, Andres and the rest of the staff deserve 5++ stars. Now the food: We started with some burrata which came with an eggplant purée. It was refreshing and a great start to our meal. We then tried soft shell crab tacos, which we ended up ordering seconds of and two tostados: sea scallops + beef carpaccio. Sooo delicious. For our main course, we had the duck and filet mignon - both of which were incredible cuts of meat with perfectly paired sides of sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, bordelaise sauce and mushrooms. The chocolate hazelnut dessert was probably the best dessert I’ve ever had. Wish I was in Mexico to visit here more often tbh.

My wife and I had high expectations for a wonderful experience on her birthday since there is so much hype about this restaurant. To start, the staff lacks hospitality and we felt like we were not welcome in their restaurant. The waiter placed our napkins on our lap, dropped off the menus and we didn’t see him again for 20 minutes. The biggest disappointment was the lack of a reasonable gluten-free birthday dessert for my wife who has a gluten allergy. The waiter offered two fruit sorbet options and then brought out a lame sorbet with no happy birthday message. Chef Nunez should take some lessons from the other Chefs on property who take absolute pleasure in delighting guests no matter what. Chef Velia and Chef Albert know what it means to delight a guest!! Shame on the staff at Maria Dolores!

As for the restaurants at Atelier Playa Mujeres, they are all fantastic. Most notably is the exclusive Maria Dolores. If you stay in the Inspira Suite room, you get one night at Maria Dolores free (this is the only place onsite that isn't included in "all-inclusive"). Maria Dolores is an absolutely impeccable dining experience. Roman was our server the first night. He was incredibly patient with us as we navigated the menu as well as knowledgable about the cuisine and our plates. Roman did such a fantastic job that we opted to return to Maria Dolores for a second night, where we had equally great service courtesy of Carmello. 11/10 would recommend that you go to Maria Dolores if you're staying at Atelier.

We are staying at the resort for a week it and it was a part of our 7 day package to get one visit to this gourmet restaurant. Wanted to give it a try. This was hard to review because this just isnt our tupe of cuisine but it was an interesting night. It wasn't easy to get a reservation.. We had read in the reviews that you could get reservations ahead through Open Table but it was booked up 3 months ahead. staying at the highest level of the hotel which was the inspiria and our concierge tried to get us a reservation all week. In the end 7:45 was the soonest opening. I'm glad we gave it a try. It's very fancy and elegant definitely dress up.. I wasn't sure if the alcohol was included so I didn't risk it . There were several courses and all of them were very small and beyond us we weren't sure what they were. The 1st thing they brought out to us was this little thing on a cube . We eventually figured out we were supposed to eat the thing on top and that the cube was a cube of wood wood for presentation . I tried octopus for the 1st time here. We are not gourmet people we've tried gourmet things in the past and not like them, so my expectation spectation wasn't too high. This is very highly rated so I'm guessing if you like gourmet food this is great. This was definitely not our cup of tea in fact a few of the things actually grossed us out The meat in my bean soup was well just not good my husband had some kind of tuna thing Reminded him too much of cat food . It was very pretty inside the food was well presented and well presented and everything was fancy the music was very elegant electric violin . It was a nice experience but there were several things on the food that we didn't like or it actually kind of made us a little Grossed out . But they were the only people our whole stay that acknowledged our celebrating our 25th anniversary and I very much appreciated that effort.. That was one area at tallyer really dropped the ball. The service here was very attentive but in the end from start to finish there was nothing we enjoyed the flavor. Some of the food was pretty or interesting but in the end i promised my husband we wouldnt go back when we come here again. Everything was prepared with attention to detail .. some was food art. But this isnt our type of food. Im 1 star because their wasn't any thing we tasted that we liked or would ever want again . I very much like trying new things and i appreciate the experience.

As I said in my main review the food was like tasting heaven. The service was impeccable and the dishes were small yet very filling. I left with a happy stomach and a fulfilling smile. Every dish was better than the last and I would definitely go back just for this restaurant.

We are staying at Atelier Playa Mujeres and we’re looking forward to our dinner at Maria Delores. The venue is quite nice and the staff were extremely good. The menu, in contrast, was poor. There is nothing appealing whatsoever! The chef has totally lost touch with the public and has failed to offer anything that may appeal to a broader range of people. I have never been to a restaurant where I could only find one item that was somewhat appetizing. This was the sea scallops. Unfortunately, the waiter advised that the dish was raw which totally turned me off! Eating any seafood in an uncooked state, on vacation is a recipe for disaster. I resorted to a main course item only. Something safe - beef filet. I requested it cooked medium, received it blue rare and had to send it back. My wife ended up eating her meal alone while I watched. The beef was cooked over a type of charcoal that left the meat tasting like a rubber tire. It was presented alone on a large plate with what once was potato but now a liquid slurry and a brown soy based sauce. The combination was foul. Dessert had no redeeming qualities. You would have to like Kombucha to order the first one, enjoy sorbet with red pepper for the second or hazelnut if you wanted a tart. Overall, not enticing at all. All I can say is my food experience was one of the worst I can remember. We actually sought out another restaurant after we left so we could somehow salvage the night with a proper dessert. Do Not Waste your evening at Maria Delores!

Staff was very friendly, professional, attentive, treating guests like a celebrity. Very nice interior design. Most of the food was delicious but one of my courses was unfortunately absolutely not eatable! Maybe it’s just me as I could see that all dinners around look very satisfied but it unfortunately a bit spoiled the overall experience.
