A short walk from the hustle and bustle of the busy Kata main roads you will find this delightful bar and restaurant. As you approach the charismatic Mr Chai greats you at the street-front bar and eagerly welcomes you inside. There are tables strewn around both sides of the driveway in a rustic manner and the venue has a warm and appealing atmosphere, however, there is some seating available inside in the air-conditioning for the more conservative diner. The staff are friendly and attentive, our server had a bubbly personality and was more than eager to please. Beers are served in the venues own coolers, which also advertise Mr Chai’s sightseeing business. White wine was available and easy to drink, not served as cold as Aussies like it, but ice cubes were readily available. The menu boasts a wide selection of dishes. A highlight of the appetizers was the Chicken Satay, the sauce was creamy and sweet with a subtle hit of spice. For mains I would highly recommend the chicken and cashew nut stir-fry, served in a deliciously tangy sauce and the fried prawns with garlic; both dishes truly satisfied our palettes and tummies.
For Aussie readers, 2 courses with wine and beer for three people cost $25 a head

The best Thai food in Kata!! The flavor and price make this my favorite restaurant in Kata. Many of the vegetables are grown organically on the property and served as fresh as can be! Please support Kata on Fire...and get a taste of real Thailand with out the tourist prices!!! Thank you Chai! 🙏🏻

This place is a little off the beaten track but well worth the visit. Ive been here for 2 weeks and eaten a lot of thai food and this is hands down the best food I've had in thailand to date! The restaurant is unassuming but very clean and tidy, the service was lovely and the food was served in a timely manner. I cant recommend this place enough, go here for an incredible experience! We had the chicken and cashew stir fry and the massaman curry with coconut shakes and a beer! Dont let the price fool you, some things are too good to be true, thats not the case here! Thanks for an amazing evening experience, I'll never forget it!

My husband and i were travelling around thailand and decided to finish our travels down in Phuket, one of the major reasons was I wanted to return here to Kata on fire for hopefully a repeat stunning meal which we had back in 2017.
I was absolutely gutted I could have cried. The meal was horrendous, prawn fishcakes you get three, 1 of them was raw in the middle, not to worry 2 was ok. Main course was prawns, when they arrived they were like rubber and cold. I ended up leaving them, when asked to speak to manager he was great and took my meal off bill.
I personnally feel they have lost their thai authenticity and are now catering more for tourists.
Advice maybe to take on board, go back to being just a restaurant.
Question to myself,
would I return ... No
Would I recommend...... No.

Every time I visit Thailand I always go for fishing and I always bring my catch with me. This place is always happy to cook my catch. The staff are always happy to serve me with great foods and genuine lovely smiles whether I bring my own fish or not.
Kata on Fire Bar and Grill is little gem in Kata. The staff are very young but I can tell they are happy and love their jobs. The chefs, I haven’t met them, but are definitely doing a great job. Never been disappointed every time I visit this place.

Quick dinner stop. Had the red curry rice with chicken and hubby had pineapple fried rice. Delish!
Nothing fancy, but reasonably priced (about $11 USD for dinner and water for two)

Where do I start?. Visited this evening after some good trip advisor reviews. Went early so wasnt too busy for evening meal. I ordered stir fry shrimp with egg fried rice. It truly was heaven on a plate. Fantastic freshly flavoursome cooked food. Ive had some amazing food in Thailand over the years and believe me Kata on fire is now up there with the best. Then there is Chai. He is the owner and he brings the magic. Hes friendly beyond words, hes one of the funniest people Ive ever met and thinks nothing of taking his guests on an impromptu visit around his super clean kitchen to watch his staff cook fantastic food,and they are staff who really love their boss. I guess thats why you can feel the love in the food . If your here in kata go try. I could kick myself for not going sooner. You really wont be disappointed.

Had seen all the great comments on here and thought we would check it out - ended up going three times! The food was delicious and really fresh thai food - you HAVE to have that mango stick rice! Also recommend the tom yam soup and red curry rice. The second time we went we met Chai who owns the restaurant and go to know all the staff playing pool with them! Marie and Mama are great fun! We then went back on our last night as we wanted to end out holiday on a high! Chai also has a tour company and his son, Til, kindly took us to the big buddha and took some great photos for us (good competitive price to other tours/taxis). Definitely go check this place out!

What a great find.
Food was really good and freshly cooked.
Menu choices suited everyone, good vegetarian selection and will cook for you on request if they have the ingredients.
Service is very good and the location is perfect for Kata beach.
We have eaten here at least 5 times in a week during our stay so far.

We found this lovely restaurant a short stroll from the main part of Kata and instantly were welcomed by all the staff and the owner himself Mr Chai. He was tending to his garden out the back and gave us a tour. After he was finished with his gardening he even came and had a couple of beers with us at our table. We ordered Pad Thai, one Shrimp and one seafood and man they were the best Pad Thais that we have ever had.
Would definitely recommend this for the reasonably priced food and the lovely service.

We just had dinner at Kata on Fire and it was delicious! The authentic Thai food was one of the best we’ve had in our two week trip to Thailand and the staff were very accommodating to our children’s desires, which are often more on the simple side. It is a bit off the beaten path but worth finding your way to. They were so kind that they even gave us a ride back to our lodging at the end of our meal. Can’t wait to go back!

Found this place after reading the reviews. Was not disappointed. Staff very friendly and helpful even serving our crab for us. The Red Thai curry rice with chicken is gorgeous and the crab with black pepper very tasty. Really reasonable prices too 😊

We've ordered one fried rice with a chicken and one with sea food. Asked it to be not spicy. For the first time they gave us 1 rice and forgot the other one. After some talking and 10 more minutes we got second serving. It was spicy. We refused to to eat and pay for the other one. Had no problems and played for the food we've eaten.
Anyway good place. Rice was good.

We bumped into this restaurant by chance and we were extremely positively surprised by the great food and the friendliness of the host. The deep fried bass was soooo delicious, the portion was very good, the papaya salad was yummy, the cold coconut rounded up our amazing meal. We are coming back tomorrow 😋

Was there for dinner with my husband and our son. It took 20 min before we even got to order, My husband ordered carbonara and I ordered steak, after 20 min my husband got his food, we asked for my food they would go and check, after another 10 min we asked again for my food and got in response that they would check. At this point my husband and son had eaten after another 10 min we asked again for my food and again were told they would check after another 10 min then we got tired so we asked for the bill and when we get the bill they have stomach to charge for the steak we never got so we said and in response we got that it will come in 5 minutes but we explained that we had waited so long so we weren't going to wait any longer after some discussion they finally removed the steak from the bill and then came some higher essay that said we would get 50% discount but it ended up with 10% discount we will never go here again
