About
The Gasthof zu Tschotsch (750 m) is part of the landscape surrounding the village of St. Oswald. Many products come from the farm (beef, potatoes, vegetables, aromatic herbs, etc.). Also red and white vine is made at the farm. There's a 300-year-old ‘Bauernstube’ (farmer’s parlor) and a farming museum where you will find testaments to the hard work as well as the life and beliefs of the land folk of the past. For the small guests there are a playground and lots of farm animals (horses, cows, rabbits, cats, and a pet pig). The farmstead and guesthouse are perfectly situated to undertake simple or more challenging hikes (the gondola to the Seiser Alm takes a few minutes to reach with the free shuttle bus), but cities, villages, and castles are also within reach.

To reach it you have to follow a small road in the woods on which a small bus also passes. The internal room is very characteristic but we sit in the equally cozy outdoor. We order a fragrant mixture of cold cuts and cheeses with horseradish cream (all packaged by the family) and a trio of dumplings: cheese, red beetroot and spinach. From 10 and praise. A special mention to the bread always produced by the family. With two good 0.5 light beers and two coffees, 46€ for two people. Correct.

If you are not put off by the adventurous journey on a narrow, single-lane road, you will reach a beautiful and rustic inn with nice and friendly hosts and attentive waiters. The portions are large and taste perfect. I ate the goulash - super. In winter, however, I would think twice about driving through the golf course and individual farms.

Found restaurant thanks to TA reviews. Historic, characteristic, well-kept and clean place. Well cooked typical South Tyrolean dishes. We tasted home-made sausages, roast pork, goulash, desserts and house wine, all very good. Helpful and kind staff.

I state that the place is nice and the waitresses kind. Però... There were 4: 2 people were served and the other 2 had the plate when the others had finished and the place was not full. Pappardelle with chanterelles without flavor, even my husband's ravioli and my children's maltagliati tasteless. At this price in this area I ate much better.

The historic farm with its attached, free museum has a very nice location and good parking. There is a bus stop in front of the house. Down-to-earth enjoyment with homemade specialties! The staff and the owners are still very friendly and accommodating. TOP value for money! We are already looking forward to next year.

Great food, nothing to complain about. I loved the roast pork, my friend had the schnitzel. The location is remote but very quiet and beautiful. Friendly service and they have homemade wine. You get good portions here too! Highly recommended.

We discovered this farm in a brochure that illustrated the museum of rural life (which is located inside this structure). We therefore decide to stop for lunch too. The interior is very beautiful, classic wooden structure, and the bathrooms in the basement (as often found in these areas) very very clean. Excellent food, they also sell their own preserves and local honey. It also has tables outside, but that day it was raining, and in any case in my opinion the inside deserves more. The museum is very simple, it serves more than anything to attract you to the farm.

We wanted to get some authentic South Tyrolean food and decided to go to this place. And it was AMAZING! The food was so, so good and the atmosphere was very cosy with the traditional interior. Also the staff was very nice and friendly. Lovely vegetarian options too. Absolutely loved this place!

This place is a little bit of the beaten path in a quiet and peaceful location but quick to reach from Kastelruth by car. The food was delicious , probably the best we had around the area. They have a lovely terrace to sit out on when the weather is nice. They also have a B&B and we are very tempted to stay there next time we visit just to eat lots more of the yummy, freshly prepared but reasonably priced food. We visited with a one year old and were provided with a high chair.

I love this place. Ever since my first trip here about 10 years ago we keep coming back. Stopped for lunch and were not disappointed. The Schnitzel was great, as well as the Gulasch. For dessert we shared a Buchweizen Torte (buckwheat) 5 stars well deserved. Will keep coming back as often as possible.

What a great lunch! We had traditional dishes, everything is home made, even the wine comes from the own vineyard and were delicious like the dishes we had. The location is great, the owner and their staff were extremely friendly. We even bought 3 bottles of their excellent wine to drink on our journey further. The museum next door shows a nice collection of artefacts out of the area.

I was in Castelrotto for a week and during my daily walks I arrived in S Osvaldo, a small location very characteristic of Alto Adige. I eaten first a piece of strudel: excellent!!! and then I have lunch with fantastic goulash and canederli: local specialities! I will come back!

Welcoming, clean facility with very helpful and friendly staff. You absolutely must try the half board formula because the dinner is really worth it for the asking price.
