Basil ("Basilico"), through time and in many cultures is considered a symbol of love, wealth and protection. A name that family Petousis chose to call their own restaurant, with care and love to all details from the food to the environment that you are seated. Eleni the chef of the restaurant-but first of all mother- with her experience of 25 years, joined knowledge with her two sons Kostas and Thodoris so that you taste at "Basilico" traditional greek flavours with fresh ingredients of Lefkada and Greece. Very good food and service!

When we arrived we were addressed by a friendly young man, he told us that everything was freshly made and by mothers themselves. After we had some drinks we ordered the food. After half an hour the people who came in later already got their food. Earlier than us. After sitting at the table for almost an hour we got our food. It smelled super good and tasted very good. That friendly boy had not lied about the fresh food. The fish could, so to speak, go back into the water. The pasta was also made by hand. That long waiting is not usual. We all had enough, except me. I neatly indicated this after I had finished my food. After consulting with the chef we got two rounds of drinks from the house. Dessert was also on the house. You could see that the owner wanted to do everything to give us as guests everything he could to make it to our liking. Later we were also offered a cup of coffee, but he had already given us so much that we thought it was too much. The service was very good. Friendly employees, a real family business.

Great place for an excellent dinner

An excellent option to have dinner at Nidri. The waiters were very kind despite the significant workload due to the high season. They were also very helpful and they suggested a perfect rose wine (anthosmias) to accompany our main dishes (tuna steak). The food was well served and the taste was exquisite. We really recommend this restaurant. Ask for the handmade pasta and if you like tuna we really recommend the tuna steak. Many thanks to the staff and the owners of the restaurant for this great dinner!

More than just food

What started in an unfortunate way was fixed beautifully by the staff of Basilico in Nidri. We arrived and were taken care of instantly, ordered our drinks and a bit later the food. We got the drinks right away, but had to wait for the food for a rather long period of time. Now, this ruined our mood but little did we know: the owner was very much aware and gave his everything to fix this. We noticed that other tables had their food almost instantly so assumed it was a miscommunication and did not blame them at all. Once we got the food (almost 1 hour after arriving), the portion of one of the people at the table was disappointingly small.We addressed this and could not believe what happened next: we got almost 2 rounds of drinks on the house, free deserts and they offered more. Of course, we did not want to exploit the situation and let them know we really appreciate their effort of correcting their errors after which they showed their tremendous appreciation. Concluding: absolute recommendation for anyone that loves DAY FRESH fish, home made pasta, awesome service and a great atmosphere. Thanks Basilico guys, for the awesome evening.

Overrated restaurant

This is one of those restaurants where they seem to spend more energy on recruiting customers than on the quality of food or service. I had the grilled haloumi as a starter (which was OK) and the fried octopus as a main course (not so good - the batter had mostly separated from the octopus and the dish was quite tasteless). What irritated me was that the main course was served while I wasn't even halfway through my starter - and I am not a slow eater! The only option was to take the main course away and keep it heated until I was ready - which does nothing to improve the quality of the food, so I opted not to. To be fair, Basilico is not the only restaurant in Nydri that has problems with timing the main course, but it is still poor service and it quite ruined my dining experience. On the positive side, the restaurant is beautifully situated in the harbour, and the decor is nice.

Amazing food - Low Prices - wonderful personel

I went there with my partner yesterday. The waiter welcomed us with a very nice and positive mood informing us about their fresh dishes. The seafood was indeed fresh, very tasty accompanied by baked vegetables. The kitchen and the restaurant were very clean showing proffesionalism and costumer care. Very warm and cosy environment which felt like home. We invited Thodoris (the owner) to sit with us and he gave us all the information we need, places to go, attractions to see in order to spend our holidays having the best possible experience. I would recomend this restaurant to everyone. Thank you Thodoris and I am definetely coming back to your restaurant.

Good food and friendly enviroment

Basilico came as a recommendation from marino. From the first moment i stepped foot in the restaurant, Everyone was really pleasant and acoomodating towards me and it is always nice to be pampered like that when you visit a place for the first time so it really felt nice! Everything was well organised from the menus all the way up to the hygiene levels that were kept really high. The night went on very well with exceptionally good tasting food, good service and a very pleasant non intrusive atmosphere with people enjoying themselves in every table and having a great dinner experience. Would highly recommend and will visit again next time i make port in Nydri. Thank you Petros for beeing so friendly!

Traditional dinner

This was absolutely perfect! As an appetizer we had bread with homemade olive tapenade. As a second appetizer we had feta cheese with crust and honey. Then we ordered seafood plate for two - there were 6 kinds of seafood, dill mayo, grilled potatoes and fries, cheery tomatoes. Of course we tried traditional white wine. The staff was very kind and polite, more over they gaved us something od the house - wine, ouzo and desert (orange-caramel cake). Everything was homemade and cooked with love. Definitely 5 stars and we recommend Basilico tavern to everybody! ❤️

Really great calamari

We visited with our 3 small children and orderd pasta for them, but then they all ended up eating our calamari, fish, shrimps, zucchini... The waiter was friendly, and with the good sense of humour. We had a great meal at Basilico restaurant today.

An hour to be served

I don’t know what went wrong on our visit. I was one of the 50 disappointed customers who visited this place the same date same our with me. The waiters were quite kind and were trying to serve us, but the kitchen..... we had to wait 50 min for our salad!!!!!!! The food is ok. Not so good. There is a lack of organization. Terrible experience!!!!

Σας ευχαριστούμε πάρα πολύ για την κριτικη σας, όπως επίσης να σας ενημερώσω ότι αυτή τη στιγμή ειναι περιοδος high season και ότι λογικά μπορεί να υπάρξουν και καθυστερήσεις Αφού είναι πολύς ο κόσμος που πρέπει να εξυπηρετήσουμε όπως επίσης να σας ενημερώσω ότι γνωρίζετε οτι κάποιος άνθρωπος μπορεί να χάσει τη δουλειά του μετά από μία τέτοια κριτική. Καθώς ο εργοδότης μπορεί να ψάξει ποιος είναι υπεύθυνος για το λάθος.Εχει γυρισει ο κοσμος τουμπα και το μόνο που σκέφτεσαι είναι αν θα φας γρήγορα τη σαλάτα σου ,και όχι αυτούς τους ανθρώπους που καλούνται να δουλεύουνε με 60 βαθμούς στην κουζίνα φορώντας μάσκα σε πρωτόγνωρες καταστάσεις για την ανθρωπότητα!!!

This place has great reviews but we didn’t think it lived up to them. Our waiter was impatient to the point of rudeness and he didn’t engage with us and was not helpful in explaining the menu choices. The starters we chose were okay zucchini balls and a aubergine dip, we had to request more bread. The waiter couldn’t wait to clear up and brought our main course immediately when we would have preferred a break between courses. I had kleftiko and although the lamb shank was delicious it only came with a really tiny amount of small slices of potato, no vegetables or cheese and no sauce so I was very disappointed. My husband had a tomohawk pork chop which he did enjoy and it came with chips salad and a bbq sauce. We were given a small dessert. The house red was lovely but more expensive than other establishments in Nidri at 7.50 euros. The bill came to 55 euros which wasn’t too expensive but we didn’t really enjoy the experience and will not return.

Lovely dinner

Ate here late one evening. The food was very good but didn’t have some of the ‘extras’ that some other restaurants do - we had to order pittas for our tzatziki where other restaurants have bread. That’s just an observation rather than a criticism as the price was still reasonable. There was a very large group dining at the same time as us and this meant that there was a delay to receiving our pittas - however the head waiter did spot this and got it rectified. ‘Stuff’ happens but when it does, good service is getting it rectified.

Basilico the best

This is the fourth time we spend our summer in Nydri and eat at the same restaurant every time. Basilico is a wonderful restaurant in the port, it has delicious food that is hard to resist. From various pizzas to grill, fish, pasta, traditional cuisine and finally pizza, cake or coffee served by the house. Prices are decent. The staff is very friendly and at your service. It is often very crowded, so a reservation is required. Petros is the best waiter, the owner Thodoris makes sure everything is right and a big greeting for them. We became friends with them, almost like family. Only praises for this restaurant. BASILICO THE BEST, recommended, you must stop by because you will miss the best. Biljana, Belgrade, Serbia, 🇷🇸

Fantastic food and service

We enjoyed wonderful grilled seabream with steamed veggies and a succulent Greek salad (their bread rolls were delicious particularly when dipped into the aromatic olive oil mixed with the salad juices). Petros, Nontas and Nikos were amazing, hospitality at its best! Friendly and welcoming. People of Leukada (and Ioannina) are the best! We got a delicious little sweet treat at the end, mixed berries cheesecake! Totally worth it!

Pleasant surprise

Basilico was a very pleasant surprise! After some time spent in Greece, we thought we know how greek food taste like, at Basilico we found out we knew nothing. We've tried the traditional moussaka, the catch of the day and some beef stew. The food was cooked on the spot, no precooked suff or shortcuts on food. The waiter was very friendly and welcoming offering us the best panacota in the house. We'll recommend this restaurant to everyone we know, even to the world wide web.

A very classy nice restaurant. A warm welcoming, followed by an excellent service, good prices and fresh food, with a lot of attention to details in order to please you. Food was amazing and service was excellent! Waiters were really friendly with great sense of humor making you feel like home. Definitely going there again!!I loved this place!
