We love everything about Melleford, the beautiful decor, the friendly staff but most of all the food! Between us I think we have sampled most of the menu and everything we have tried, without exception, has looked great, tasted great and is excellent value with generous portions and top quality ingredients. Booking is possible to avoid disappointment, feel so lucky we have such a wonderful cafe in the village and a visit is always a highlight of our week.

I have been going to Melleford since they were known as Saltwater and have now moved into the centre of the village of Milford.If you like really good coffee,a menu that changes regularly and always for the better,there is no place better to choose.Yes,it is a public cafe/restaurant/coffee shop but the atmosphere is more than friendly with most of the customers being so friendly and regular,one feels part of a lovely big family. This is helped by the fact that it is owned and run by a lovely family who work not only in the kitchen but also front of house. The staff they employ seem just like an extension of the family.
If you have never been there, you are really missing out!
PS. The the cakes are to die for!

Just a brilliant place for breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea or a casual coffee. The Chai Latte is sublime!
Always friendly service, dog friendly & owners are always on the lookout for the next menu item to delight the customers whether regular, occasional or first time visitors! 10/10 every time.

I regularly visit, sometimes with my husband. We are so lucky to have Melleford and sister establishment Saltwater so close to home.
Menus are different in each, with Mellford cosy and facing the lovely green, and Saltwater walking distance away, bright and arty. A wide and creative menu for both breakfast and lunch, all cooked to order, also cakes. Favourites are french toast, being eggy brioche with generous fruits and maple syrup, served creatively. Good portion for £7.50. Then there is salmon hollandaise, only slightly more cost, generous and delicious.
Special currently in season asparagus lunch at Saltwater with poached egg, Old Winchester cheese shavings and lemon butter on sourdough with salad leaves is sublime. Add smoked salmon and it is a meal to rival the very best in the area. A large latte and a bill of £15, amazing value. Photo attached ...yum! My husband loves the man sized ciabattas, sausage or bacon, add extras for a real feast.
Both places allow dogs, good mix of locals and visitors, and the friendliness and service only a family run business can offer.

We stopped by for breakfast at Melleford Cafe/restaurant recently in Milford on Sea and loved it.
The ambience is very friendly, and everything is meticulously prepared with a lot of care.
I had the breakfast pan, and having tomatoes on the vine also, was a very professional touch, the bacon and egg were also really tasty. My wife had the garlic mushrooms and poached egg and she said it was one of the best breakfasts she had ever eaten!
The decor is all immaculate and you can see the owner goes to great lengths and works so hard to make Mellefords a great place to enjoy fine food.
A fantastic place, and for sure we will make a return visit soon! Thank you so much.

Ordered a light lunch with cake and coffee to follow. Amazing bacon and mushroom ciabatta, and very reasonable too. When we said we'd like some cake, we were offered a wonderful lemon drizzle straight from the oven. Grateful thanks to Tony, Becca and Holly!

Amazing lunch and great view .
I had the best seafood salad with prawns and smoked salmon .
The staff were great as my friend is gluten intolerant they had gluten free soy sauce for her sushi .

Melleford is a fantastic little restaurant
really refreshing to find somewhere that serves something different we don’t all just want jacket potatoes or paninis
my friend and I had the Korean chicken on flatbread it was delicious

Undoubtably THE best breakfast for miles around, top quality ingredients. We had the full English breakfast, including a proper butchers sausage, crispy bacon, two poached eggs, field mushrooms, on the vine cherry tomatoes, beans and 2 lovely slices of sourdough toast. Everything was cooked to perfection, we were full until dinner time. Lovely coffee. friendly staff and beautiful decor. I highly recommend a visit

Previously Saltwater, Tony and Becca have now opened Melleford. The new menu is fabulous and the location at the bottom on the green is great. Amazing food as always - the sushi bowl and Korean chicken flatbread are particularly good. The seafood salad as delicious as ever - ditto the Avo on toast with beetroot hummus.
They are licenced so perfect for a glass of something to celebrate with too!
They are currently also open on a Monday - unlike everywhere else in the village and it's well worth the trip - for breakfast, brunch, lunch or just great for coffee and cake!! Highly recommended.

Fantastic!!!! We absolutely loved the food, delicious!! Excellent quality! The staff were friendly and accommodating. We took our very friendly dog who was made more than welcome by them… he loved his doggie sausage too! This is an excellent place to come for good food, can’t rate it enough.. we will definitely go back. Thanks all at Melleford!! We so enjoyed our visit!

My husband and I love eating here as, there is something for everyone. He had a breakfast pan of bacon and eggs and so much more he couldn't finish it all. Whereas, I had the seafood salad from the lunchtime part of the menu. Both were large portions, beautifully presented and the service was as always very attentive. The perfect way to start our walk in the sunshine.

We visited Melleford after a 5 mile walk, so we were looking for a good lunch in restful surroundings. We couldn’t have made a better choice. The service was so friendly and welcoming. The menu has such a good range of options it was difficult to choose. On the advice of one of the owners I opted for the smoked salmon hash;? It was wonderful , as was the vegetarian Croque Monsieur, which, my wife and daughter said was delicious with smoked aubergine as a key ingredient. What we really appreciated too was the fact that there was no music, so all the conversations were quiet and there was a lovely calm ambiance. Thank you to the owners for giving us such a memorable lunch. We shall definitely be back next time we are in the area.

The owners of the Saltwater Cafe have recently opened this establishment opposite the village green, also in Milford. It is a small intimate place with simple furnishings and decor and if you have a window seat (or close to), you have a good view of the bustling activities in the village. The welcome is friendly and polite, but the service was a little on the slow side. I know everything is freshly prepared to order, but I felt that with only 4 tables occupied when we entered (9:30 opening time on the dot) it was still almost 30 minutes before we had our breakfast. How long if the place was busy?

This was fantastic. We all had the breakfast pan - vegetarian. It was absolutely amazing - really tasty and excellent value.
I cannot recommend Melleford enough.
it is rare to find somewhere that not only makes delicious food but is reasonably priced, very comfortable, has great service and is dog friendly.
