We were fortunate to be included in private birthday lunch which was in a superb building with walled garden …just entrancing. The whole four hours went without a single hitch, food and wines exceptional, from champagne in the garden to some of the best service...from the staff throughout the meal. Children (well behaved ) and small dog all made to feel welcome. Such lovely memories and a perfect way to celebrate a dear friend’s birthday.More

The restaurant has an incredible buzz and excitement with people from all age groups with one single purpose “To eat fresh and superb tasting food “ served with aplomb in a setting that’s hard to replicate complete with a garden view where you can rest,...laze or enjoy the weather over dessert or coffee. A complete and fulfilling treat ! A gourmet delight. Raymond Blanc has a winner here !More

I've been going once or twice a year for 25 years and have consistently rated this top in each category. Regretfully, not this year. The pluses: a most beautiful place - arguably the best in the UK; good service in the restaurant; fabulous table in...the conservatory; skilfully cooked food, bread fabulous as ever. The down-sides: - they were only offering a tasting menu (which we knew when booking) - some excuse to do with Covid apparently, though it's still a tasting menu only, so I'm not sure how that fits. I have a fundamental dislike and issue with tasting menu only restaurants - they are producer-led, not customer led; they are self-indulgent and arrogant - the chef knows best what I want to eat (i.e. he doesn't); it leads to tapas style eating, i.e. small plates and no feeling of having had a meal; choice comes through multiple courses, but doesn't give multiple choice for each course - never have four of us at a table ever picked exactly the same choices for any course, let alone the whole meal. The mushroom risotto course was still fabulous (if small!); there was a butternut squash course which was surprisingly good - especially as butternut squash is usually boring; there was (a tiny piece of) beef fillet - but fillet is so hard to make spectacular, and it wasn't - (and actually the fact that it was so small detracted from its taste); I can't remember what the two desserts were - and dessert is usually memorable. Also, when they confirm the booking they ask about allergies and preferences, so I'd said no seafood. The waiter taking the order in the lounge didn't know that and should have. He had several ready-made alternatives, but even so it was poor attention to detail and below their previous standards.More

An incredible and amazing weekend and the perfect place to celebrate my 70th birthday with family and friends. From the moment of arrival you're taken care of with care and professionalism. Bedrooms are beautifully appointed, real 5* luxury. A walk around the gardens brings home...the importance of organic produce in the menus and the sculptures are lovely. An aperitif before the 7 course dinner menu starts the evening in comfortable lounges, followed by out of this world food. Every course made us all go 'wow' with the presentation and flavours, and the wine we chose was delicious. After a restful night's sleep, breakfast was another delightful experience, with traditional choices. We didn't want to leave, but all great things come to an end. Staff could not have been more warm, helpful and friendly, making us feel very welcome. Overall the Oxford Escape could not have been better. We have great memories to keep.More

We were fortunate enough to have stayed at this hotel for two nights, celebrating two important birthdays in our family. The service from booking and throughout our stay to our departure was wonderful. The rooms were comfortable, beautifully furnished and the grounds fantastic, even in...March. The highlight for us was, of course, the food. Breakfast was great. The two evening meals we enjoyed in the restaurant were lovely.. All the food was beautifully presented and served, fresh, original flavours, lots of seasonal and local produce. All was fantastic and some of the best food we have eaten. The staff were friendly with just the right amount of formality. Thanks.More

Third visit to this stable of modern Anglo-French cuisine. As always the service and staff are second to none. Food as always was wonderful, bordering on the sublime. Why 4/5? The wine pairing started right but did not go well with the final courses of...the tasting menu. Most of the dishes were delicious, however, there was less magic in courses 4 and 5. Look forward to returning and experiencing 5/5.More

My family and I recently enjoyed lunch at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saison to celebrate my son’s 18th birthday. Having visited in the past and always felt spoiled and full at the end, we were keen to make this the venue for this occasion but this...meant planning (we booked 3 months in advance) and budget - the price of the lunch menu has increased by around 50% in a year or so - but it was, without a doubt, worth the effort and expense. From the moment we arrived the staff looked after us. They were friendly yet professional, handled all of our food requests (we had some fussy eaters in our group) without any concerns, and as a result we all enjoyed the most delicious food and wine experience. My son was delighted to have a birthday card on the table when we sat down for lunch and his dessert was served with a candle. I would recommend the Manoir without hesitation to anyone needing a special treat after 2 long years of this pandemic.More

We did have a little trouble understanding the waiter who was explaining each course. As he left each time we said did anyone get that? But it didn’t matter. We knew it would be lovely. After our meal we went for a walk around the...lovely gardens.More
