Leah’s dad is in Rwanda, interviewing folks there in a few villages (he’s a writer). He shared this video of them greeting him and his colleagues. Amazing…

Unknown climber on Le Teton (5.9). Random fun story I heard: some climbers went to Peterskill for some TR action. They hiked up to the top and set up an anchor. One of them, new to climbing, is asked to flake out the rope to prepare to toss it over. He preps the rope, peers over the edge, yells "ROPE!", and tosses the entire stack off the cliff. 😂

Catskills may not have the ice that the Adirondaks or NH has, but there's still a lot of fun to be had within a short drive from NYC. As Alex Lowe famously said, the best climber is the one having the most fun. A photographer in the area (Charles Casela) got this one of me having loads of fun, even though I was bleeding from getting knocked in the chin by a baseball-sized hunk of ice.

Great ice climbing exists not far from NYC. You just have to time it right (e.g., after a polar vortex rips through the east coast). Here's me struggling up my first WI4 route

A few hours on the California coast before a flight back East, watching the fog roll in and the waves eat away at the shoreline. Spent the days before climbing and camping in Yosemite.

One way to surprise your visiting girlfriend, go to a trapeze school. Then, watch her crush through every challenge they throw at her in two hours.

After a few hours of climbing, some rappelling, and squeezing through slot canyons, we topped out above Elephant Butte. We didn't expect the snow-covered peaks in the distance, past the dry desert mesas and deep canyons.

Bouldering on the classic Plumbers Crack rock. Climbing up using chimney-style techniques, with my back pressing against one side and my hands/feet on the other to keep myself from plummeting to the ground.

There's a spot in the Catskills overlooking a lake that I've considered to be the perfect campsite. Huge natural fire-pit, perfect ground for tents and great trees for hammocks. Excellent views of the sunset and sunrise since you're facing south into an open valley. Definitely not going to give away this 'secret' spot.

Get as close to the edge without falling over. Don't actually try this

Took the long way to the office because I woke up extra early during the snowstorm. If you haven't experienced CP in the snow, before the shovels come out, add it to your to-do list.

Snapped this while sailing around NY harbor with some friends on a lazy Sunday. Big, puffy clouds all the way to the horizon

During the storm, I wanted wake up early and wander before the shovels and plows cut tracks into the snow. I was near the Brooklyn Bridge and met a random jogger, Cristian, headed to work. He noticed me taking his photo and ran back to me, asking if I could send it to him. He later captioned it 'nunca no corriendo' (never not running, or something like that).

This is my view every morning. It doesn't always look like this. Only when it's foggy and the sun is still creeping up the horizon. This isn't a B&W edit; no desaturation. Just fog and shadow (and patience waiting for the right person to walk in the frame).
