Hotels near Navy Pier

Opened in 1995, Navy Pier is a 50-acre scenic waterfront destination that’s home to countless restaurants, exhibitions, shops, entertainment, and more. Take a ride on the 200-foot-tall Ferris wheel, explore the interactive Chicago Children’s Museum, enjoy a free concert, or go on an art and mural hunt—all against the spectacular views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. Adrenaline seekers will love the speedboat tours; otherwise, unwind on a sightseeing cruise. Parking can be rather pricey, so it’s best to make your way there via public transportation. You'll likely pass by the pier on a cruise of the Chicago River. – Tripadvisor

Things to do inside and out
We enjoyed a nice scenic walk along Navy Pier. The ferris wheel was operating and when the weather improves, there are more amusement rides outside. You can get a scenic boat or dinner tour from this location. Inside Navy Pier is a whole different experience with restaurants and shops. The Chicago Children's Museum is located here as well as the new Flyover Chicago attraction. Parking at Navy Pier is expensive.

    Miracles Happen!
Is there anything worse than losing your phone?? Well yes there is but it's really stressful. When I got home from my Navy Pier evening I realized that I lost my phone at Navy Pier. I had very little hope of getting it back but I filled out the lost property report. 2 days later I decided to go to the pier. I started with the two people at the front desk and they were lovely and helpful. Then Greg from the office came out to help. This guy spent a lot of time helping me and happy day - I left with my phone. I highly recommend Navy Pier! Great attraction and great experience, great employees. PS Let's not forget to mention the good and honest samaritan who turned in my phone. Wish I knew who it was but THANK YOU to all you honest people out there! Life is good!

    Nice for a one-time visit
This place is definitely getting an upgrade from my last visit, and it's been several years. I like the indoor dining and shopping area, although there aren't a lot of shopping choices. Of course the pier is iconic, so it's worth a walk to the end. I guess the only problem with the pier, it's so large and so long, if you're not just in it for the exercise, there isn't much of a purpose in taking the walk. There's a ferris wheel and some cool spots for tourist photos. There are also some nice public benches and recliner like seats at the lake end of the pier. On a beautiful day it is a nice walk.

    Beautiful!
The Navy Pier is awesome! I went back in October. Very pretty scenery overlooking the water. Had fun on the Ferris wheel (even though I’m afraid of heights). We also had good food at the rooftop restaurant, Offshore Rooftop. I got great pictures at the Navy Pier area.

    WINDY and extremely beautify place
Just be prepared for the wind...........it was nice and warm and people were out and about. It was our first time visiting the Pier. It was nicely done and very spread out so you could move about even when it was busy. We will come back for the boat tours and probably some good food as well. The view is just absolutely beautiful. It is really hard to believe it is a freshwater lake. Reminded us alot of the Destin FL harbor.

Not my thing but the kids loved it.
My family had a limited first experience of Navy Pier. We did a boat tour from the Pier, ate dinner at a restaurant on the Pier, walked around a bit, and saw some Saturday night fireworks. The architectural boat tour was great, the restaurant was so-so and overpriced, the firework show was brief, very brief. My experience was too limited to reach a fair conclusion. NP deserves another, longer exploration. Touristy zones are not really my thing, but kids love them. I gave it a 3. Grandkids gave it a 5. If this is why you bring your family to Chicago, it is probably better than similar places in most other cities. Go for it.

    Music Festival and Good Eats
We visited a music festival at Navy Pier. It was our first time visiting this pier so we walked around and even rode the Ferris Wheel. The pier is enjoyable if you are ready to accept that it is a tourist destination and on the expensive side for food and attractions. We did enjoy ourselves but would only return when there are good music acts (ChiBrations) to add to the lake breeze.

    It was nice
The views are great and since it’s on the water, it’s a little cooler in the summer heat. Plenty of places to eat and walk. There are a few rides and a giant ferris wheel. Unless there were something special happening, like fireworks or a concert, it’s not somewhere I would likely go again. It’s not a bad experience just not a repeat one for a visitor.

Excellent Visit - Loved Live Music and Dancing
Navy Pier is certainly great place to visit and since we were there on Saturday, despite expected crowds, we run into fun activities with live music, dancing and lots of fun. It was beautiful to see Chicago skyline and enjoy ice cream on another warm summer day. Definitely worth the visit as it us one of quintessential Chicago attractions.
