Hotels near Peanut Island Park

This 80-acre tropical park is a favorite among boaters and those looking for a range of recreational activities. You can kayak, fish and snorkel in the clear waters of the surrounding Lake Worth Lagoon or simply enjoy a lazy beach day and picnic on one of the island’s guarded and unguarded swimming spots. If you’re looking to stay overnight, the park has 17 campsites, but make your reservation well in advance as they’re very popular. While admission is free, you’ll have to pay for the water taxi from Palm Beach to reach the island. – Tripadvisor

    Fun day!
Everything about getting to Peanut island is easy. Put it in your GPS, park where the signs tell you to park, which is a bit of a downhill walk, but you can drive down to the dock to drop off family and “stuff” first. At the dock you buy your water taxi tickets ($18) and snorkel gear if you want ($20), no fins though. The taxis run frequently so after a short wait, if any, you and your chairs and umbrellas and whatever else are on a short jaunt to the island. The boat lands on the snorkel side, near the rocks. It can be a bit windy on that side but it seemed less windy as you went further toward the rocks. You can also walk around to the leeward side where the private boats land. I’m not sure if the beach is as good there. Peanut Island is a beautiful park with a one mile walking path all around it. Important - if you want to snorkel, and the fish around the rocks are beautiful, go during high tide. The snorkeling is best then. More hints. You should visit the Manatee Park first, which is just on the other side of the big bridge at the FPL power station. The park closes at 4 PM. As far as Peanut Island, the last boat leaves at 5PM and you must be on it or pay a $100 fine. There are bathrooms, but nothing else, so bring your own water, picnic, snacks. Have fun!

    Peanut Island
Took the 10am shuttle to the island. It gets kind of expensive if you have a large group. The water was clear and shallow near the main beach but be careful near the rocks because they will cut you. Also had one of the kids have an allergic reaction to some exposure to Man of Wars that were washing up on the beach which resulted in a trip to Urgent Care. Warn your kids not to touch them because we saw a boy try to touch one on the beach. Beautiful views and swimming but it gets really hot in the sun and there is very limited shade available. Plan well for drinks, food, sunscreen and even umbrellas and chairs or towels if you plan to stay awhile. Nice path to walk around the island.

Seems crazy busy but lots of room to carve out your own space!
Water is crystal clear and not wavy. Lots of rock breakers which are great for snorkeling! Many many fish and shells. Bring your snorkel gear and a picnic lunch and plan to spend the day! Boat was $20pp and it's $5 more to bring your wagon.

I went but I couldn't make the trip and I'm still pleased
I went to the place and they treated me very kindly. I was determined to spend the day at Pinos Island but when I arrived at the site they informed me that the water was contaminated and that they advised against doing so. I was very pleased that they were honest and I have no doubt that I will try to go again.

Fun activity for the family when in the Palm Beach area.
This is a great activity for your family when visiting the Palm Beach area. You take a water taxi on a short ride to the island and can return 2 times per hour. There are iguanas on the island and supposedly manatees, which we didn't see. (I don't believe they exist. I've been coming to Florida all my life and have NEVER seen one, even when kayaking in so called densely populated manatee areas.) Soon, there will be access to a bunker built for President Kennedy during the Cold War when he visited the Kennedy compound in Palm Beach. We went just off season You might find it necessary in season to book in advance. All in all, a delightful day.
