The Shri Siddhivinayak Ganapati Mandir is a Hindu temple dedicated to Ganesha in the form of Siddhi Vinayak or the Ganesha who grants your wish. The exterior of the temple has a unique light pinkish hue reminiscent of the architecture of Jaipur or even the sand of Rajasthan. The facade of the building has the appearance of multiangular and multi storey towers, topped with a golden urn finial. The towers also give the appearance of being joined together to form a contiguous wall. Again in a style similar to Rajasthani architecture. Inside, the mezzanine floor appears to be used for puja and also contains the Sanctum Sanctorum, while the other floors didn’t appear to be for general access. The image of Lord Shree Siddhivinayak is housed in the sanctum. The priests are quite welcoming, even though I obviously wasn’t a Hindu. Thanks to this visit, I’ll keep a mental note to see if other Siddhi Vinayak are also red.

Centrally located. quite close to Dadar station, Shree Siddhivinayak Temple is a must visit on your trip to Mumbai. It's well connected by local BEST buses too that ply from different parts of the city. Whether you come here to ask for some special favour or as a thanksgiving, the darshan of Lord Ganesha will make you feel truly blessed and at peace. If travelling on a short city trip, avoid Tuesday as its very crowded with the queues spilling on to the end of the lane. Prasad Ladoo's made of Boondi as well as coconut are available at a fixed nominal cost in the temple premise itself. Within the temple area, there is also a separate queue which offers a shorter queue and quicker darshan at an additional fee of Rs.100. It's completely optional. There are no charges for the normal queue. Overall, it's one of those places that's sure to make you feel happy to have visited it.

We went there during Ganesh Chaturthi and faced huge crowd. Luckily, the crowd waited patiently and so the experience was quite nice. We went for the distant darshan as this was the first queue that we encountered. We had a pleasant darshan of Bappa from a distance. We were blessed to have such a blissful darshan of Bappa on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi.
