Hotels near Campuhan Ridge Walk

Amid lush ravines and picturesque rice fields, the Campuhan Ridge Walk is one of the most popular treks in Ubud. You’ll start off the hike at the meeting point of the Wos Rivers by the historic core of this charming Bali town. Stop along the way to take in the views and recharge with some coffee overlooking the peaceful lily ponds. About three miles there and back, the trail is best enjoyed around sunrise and sunset, when temperatures are milder. After the hike, don’t miss Ubud’s vibrant city center, where you can shop for handicrafts and visit ancient landmarks. – Tripadvisor

    Pleasant early-morning walk
We did the walk at 6:30am which was a good time of day. Not too hot at the start, but it warmed up quickly as the sun rose higher. We left from outside Ibah Hotel, so the walk was uphill most of the way. It finally flattens out when you reach the rice fields. The scenery was pleasant, especially at the start of the walk when the path goes through forest and past the temple. Not spectacular, but if you treat it as a stroll in nature it’s a nice way to start the day. If you have trouble with going up stairs and walking uphill for a few kilometers though, it’s probably best to do the walk in reverse.

Peaceful walk, scenery is a little underwhelming
As usual this was a poorly signposted trail so a little tricky to find the beginning. Once you start it is really a nice surprise how soon the city sounds fade away and you’re fully immersed in nature. We started at 7am and there were already quite a few people who had completed their walks by the time we started. On the one hand it’s much quieter than the rice fields walk which is great and is much more relaxing. On the other, the scenery doesn’t really compare to the rice fields either. After the gate which marks the end of the walk itself, there are some nice cafes, warungs and little art workshops. All in all a good way to start the day in Ubud

    Easy morning walk
View was good. We went on the morning for a breakfast at a local wearing near the exit and walked backwards towards Ubud. Walk was short (~30 mins) and manageable for older folks. The were areas of steeper slopes but in general it is manageable with shoes with good traction.

    Nice walk.
I was expecting spectacular views which were a bit disappointing. That said, it was nice to get out of central Ubud and walk along the ridge and through the trees. Easy path to find and follow and not too long. A bit steep in sections so potentially not suitable for those with mobility/knee issues. Some lovely cafes/earrings along the way. This walk is best done early in the morning or later in the day avoiding the worst heat.

Right in the center of Ubud, take a detour for a dip in the greenery.
I loved taking the paved path which passes over a bridge, alongside a temple, to go deeper into the forest before reaching the summits. I wandered through the rice fields, bought a very pretty illustration, had a snack at Bird Hill (magnificent)... I went there early in the morning, I was there alone most of the time. I sweated a lot (take water), but the hike (completely accessible) is well worth it.

Audio tour of Csmpuhun Ridge Ubud wd loved it
We took a self guided audio tour by the voicemap app And we started from the top and ended at the stone gates. We enjoyed hearing about the history of the ridge and of who used to live there It's best to go early mornings as it can be hot and humid. Great audio tour. Worthwhile

    Beautiful walk
The scenery is spectacular. Strolling through the lush verdant rice fields is restorative to the soul. Can be very hot in middle of day. Best early morning and late afternoon. Carry water though plenty of refreshment stops en route

Lovely morning walk with great views
We started from the Ubud end of the trail. A steep walk up past the temple - apparently at the spot where an early settler used to run yoga sessions back in the day - and then on to the ridge itself. Lovely views across the valleys on either side. As you hit civilisation again it’s nice to see the rice paddies and farmers / artists (often both depending upon the season and state of their rice paddy). A few cafes start to appear and then the trail morphs into a quiet road. We stopped where the road started to get a little busier and walked back. Overall it was probably only about an hour at a reasonable pace to cover both directions, but you can obviously take it slower. I would suggest starting as early as you can as we started at about 0830 and it was getting busier on the walk back.

Although there is a local guide available, you don't really need him because it would be fascinating to explore
Located behind Pura Gunung Lebah, it's concealed and hence difficult for many people to find. Once you enter Ibah Warwick's resort, you may park your car or bike at the nearby school. Proceed along the route after descending the stone steps.

    Great sunrise walk
We enjoyed our sunrise walk on our last day in Bali. It says on some of the maps, the south side of the ridge is not open. so we drove to the north side. However, both are actually open and we could have started our journey from either end. It did not matter as the views were beautiful and it was lovely to be up early when the ridge was less busy and cooler. Best avoided in midday heat!

  • Yeh Pulu Temple Hotels
Yeh Pulu Temple Build on 14th or 15th century and are in a very attractive rice field setting. You can reach Yeh Pulu on foot through the rice fields from Goa Gajah but you will definitely need a guide for the 45 minute walk as there is no path to speak of. Alternatively turn off the Ubud to Gianyar main road about 400 metres east of the entrance to the Goa Gajah complex. Drive through Banjar Batulumbang until the road comes to an end. For here walk down the track to Yeh Pulu passing the small warung on your left. As well as the carvings there is a holy well here and the attendant priest will be happy to bless you with the well water. Temple dress code applies here. Yeh Pulu is a much under-rated and under-visited site - highly recommended.
