Angkor national museum. Very good place to learn more about Khmer dynasty and Angkor. Entrance ticket for foreigner is 12$ and 3$ for local, better to take audio guide there are about 5-6 languages, and Russian including. The museum territory clean and many flowers decoration. Each halls has many Buddha statue, historical artifacts which so important for Khmer nation. The shop on the end also very good,a bit expensive but there are some things not easy to find in the city. Discover museum tooks about 2 hours, in case you will listen whole the audio program.

Fantastic companion to visiting the Angkor Temples. Loads of information and I would recommend doing this before experiencing the temples. Really cool and big shop at the end but prices expectedly higher than similar items outside although I bought a locally made bracelet to support local craftspeople. Cafe in the middle of the museum is well placed and had great views into the pond.

This is a very recent museum housing such of the chief Angkor treasures that are not in the National Museum in Phnom Phen. It's a beautiful modern building designed to evoke Angkor Wat. Like the best modern museums, it is designed to tell a story rather than simply show objects without context. The museum is set up so that you start a brief video introduction to Angkor and medieval Cambodia. From the you go to a hall displaying a thousand Buddha images, ranging from a few centmeters tall to life-size, all in a darkened room and some major treasures. From there a series of galleries show various aspects of medieval Cambodia, illustrated by superb pieces, mostly sculpture. It is a wonderful supplement to the ruins themselves. The audio guides, at least the English ones, are excellent, with commentary short enough to be practical. There is a nice gift shop and a coffee shop. A very fine museum. Allow two hours--more if you have some background on Angkor and want to do the subtleties.

We went before going to Angkor Wat. We are on a budget and with some museums there are thing to read so you can go without the audio tour so we thought we would save the money and read. Turns out there is not that much to read and what we could read left us feeling more confused. We wish we would have just skipped it all together or gotten the audio tour as we more just felt without the audio tour that we were lost.

This museum gets five stars all the way. It is probably laid out about as good as any museum I've been in all over the world, and it goes from gallery to gallery and it's pretty impossible to get lost. It has a good combination of audio video, with narration, plus statues galore and lots of information and reference sheets in English. The building itself is gorgeous, 20,000 square meters they say, with a beautiful pool in the middle. Give yourself about 90 minutes to 2 hours to enjoy it.

I spent the extra 5$ US for the audio support. I really like getting the backstory and details to art and culture. There are very good signs in each exhibit area also. And small theater type videos in multiple languages along the way that are not extra few. It’s a very modern and well curated museum. The gift shop is very nice, high quality jewelry, statuary, clothes and art. Oh and the AC is lovely!

It's a small but fascinating museum. If you can, visit it before heading to Angkor Wat as the museum helps put things into perspective. As of April 2024, we paid $24 something for 2 tickets. We only got 1.5 hours in the museum and it was not enough. If you want to watch all the films and really look at the items I would suggest 2-3 hours. There is also a nice coffee shop attached to the museum. Be warned nowhere in Cambodia will they take even the slightest damaged dollar note.

You get mesmerized when you see just the building. $12 per person is the entry fee and $5 for audio guide. Very well maintained gorgeous museum. I was most impressed with the 1000 Buddha room. This room can take most of your visit time.(ofcourse depends on your liking) Great glimpse into Cambodia’s culture and history. I loved it and certainly recommend.

What a beautiful museum! It is very informative and educational and you can feel the love for the Khmer history. After visiting the temples it is so great to visit the museum and read more on what you saw in person and look at Hindu and Buddhist elements very up close!!

We decided to tour the museum during the early afternoon to take a break from the sun and temples. The museum was a wealth of information and exhibits covering the Khmer civilization. Much more in depth than the museum in PP. we started at the top with the exhibition on Buddhas. No photos were allowed. We then progressed through rooms that covered culture, Hindu and Buddhist religions, the kings of the Khmer Empire including the most famous Jayavarman VII, architecture and details about Ankor Wat and Thom. Some of the questions we had from our earlier tours of the temples were answered in the museum. We spent almost two hours here. A small cafe was located behind the ticket desk and had seating to relax after the visit.
