Great Half day trip suitable for all ages.
Well worth spending half a day here to see all the exhibits. Unfortunately 2 exhibit areas are closed till Summer 2024 so we couldn't check those out but my daughter was thrilled with the dinosaur section. Its an amazing collection of mostly fauna rather than flora.

Not just for a rainy day!!
We (me and my pensioner aged Mum) were in London for three days, and had scheduled in a trip to the Natural History Museum for our middle day, but due to the weather forecast we decided to go the day after. It really is an excellent place to spend a bad weather day, as you could quite easily spend the whole day exploring this vast museum, but it really is suitable for any time of year. We entered through the "side" entrance on Exhibition Road (accessibility friendly) and were greeted by the absolutely delightful Alexis (Alex) who made sure my Mum would be comfortable getting around the museum with her mobility aid and pointed me in the right direction of my main objective, which was to find the parts of the museum used during the filming of Paddington. It really is a cathedral of natural history, including dinosaur exhibits (including a life sized animatronic Tyrannosaurus Rex), fossils, minerals, animal displays (stuffed of course) and areas showcasing the evolution of our planet. The Hintze Hall is a must see for architecture buffs, as it really is spectacular. We spent about four hours in the museum in all, due to having to return to our hotel to collect our luggage to get our train home, but you could quite easily arrive as soon as it opens and stay until closing time in order to see everything, especially if you need to use the restaurant facilities. We didn't, because we'd had a good breakfast beforehand, but we did have a lovely piece of carrot cake and a hot drink in the Central Cafe (next to the Hintze Hall). Some might think the prices of refreshments are a little expensive (I paid £14 for the two pieces of cake and a latte), but bear in mind that entrance to the museum (along with the neighbouring Science and Victoria and Albert museums) is FREE!!!, and if you need to take your own food and drink picnic areas are available (the cafe staff will point you in the right direction). The museum really is a fantastic place for adults and children alike, and is very popular throughout the year, but it's definitely a must visit place when in London

Natural History Museum Good couple of Hours well spent
Great museum. Took 2 grandkids 6&5 probably a bit young but loved the interactive stuff dinosaurs creepy crawlers volcanoes. Would recommend buying a ticket we queued for 45mins in the non ticket line! Get the tickets! Bit like IKEA loads of people Following the same route causing obstructions watching the displays, others walking against the tide! Busy but still room To move. Food in T Rex cafe was ok but pizzas for kids were obviously frozen and stuck in the oven for 15 mins, could be better. Signage to toilets not good should say mezzanine floor! Otherwise a great couple of hours well spent. Would recommend. Get the Tickets first!

You can spend so much time here!
It's incredible that this and other museums are available to all for free - if you can then do make a donation as it is well worth it. There are so many different exhibits in this large museum to cater for different natural history interests. If you choose to take your time, I reckon you could easily spend a day in here as there is so much to see. Well worth your time and has minimal impact on your wallet.

    The Pelé of all museums.
Once you go to this museum you start to find all the others a bit silly. It has lots of fossils, lots of information about the natural world and the evolution of species, all interactive. It is common to see many groups of children learning everything from dinosaurs to earthquake simulators. And all free!

    Natural History Museum
It's one of London's must-sees in my opinion. Lots to see. It's super interactive, very well thought out to captivate children I think. The downside is that a few elements no longer worked, probably due to being manipulated by thousands of young and old people. But I'm glad I did it. Furthermore, some of the museum buildings are truly magnificent!

    Too crowded, too hot
We visited the Natural History Museum on a inset day hoping the museum would be less busy than at the weekends. We were so wrong – we fought the crowds (and the heat – the building was very warm) for almost an hour before giving up. In addition, almost all of the outside space was out of use due to the redevelopment of the gardens (opening summer 2024) so we ended up walking across the road to the V&A courtyard and having our sandwich lunch there. N.B. Entrance tickets do need to be booked in advance

    Dinosaurs!!!!!
This museum is well worth a visit. From the moment you walk in and see the Blue Whale swimming above you, you cannot fail to be fascinated by everything that there is to see. The dinosaur exhibits are well presented and informative. I would recommend getting there early, or pre booking your tickets, as the general queue time was over 2 hours. I would definitely visit again.
