My partner and I have booked our first ever tour with HME. Richard took us to Mt. Shiribetsu where he introduced us to kick turns and the challenges of going up hill. Once we arrived at the the ridge, we had plenty of options. We decided to continue to the very top and ride the north face. That was amazing pristine powder. From the bottom of the north face we hiked up to the ridge. During that hike I faced some issues with my rental split board skins. Richard helped me find strength and fixed it so I could hike up although the skins did not stick properly to my skins. Once we were back on the ridge we were all so happy. The ride down the flank of the south face back to the car was a priceless experience. Thanks Richard!

We have used Richard Coats from Hokkaido Mountain Experience on multiple occasions over the past three years. He is a fantastic ski instructor for all skill levels. He coached our extended family, with skill levels ranging from first timers, beginners and experienced skiers (kids to adults). I can’t recommend Richard enough. Passionate about getting the best out of every person, considerate and working in such a positive way with my family to improve their skiing ability and overcoming a variety of obstacles. Besides all this, Richard is such a great guy who made our ski holiday so enjoyable. Can’t wait to do it all again in 2025.

Richard reached out via Facebook after I posted a question on a local skiing group, and we ended up booking a day trip to Yotei with 4 total customers. We loved our experience! He showed preparedness and upfront communication, and managed risk and group dynamics very well. We felt safe under his guiding. My group took two lessons with HME. We did a full day ski lesson with Richard and a full day snowboard lesson with Ruby. Both instructors were helped us improve our skills significantly. We were very pleased with the lessons. My group went from barely being able to go down reds to exploring all the reds at Rusutsu twice during our trip. Highly recommended!

I am grateful to HME for setting us up with Richie and Marina for our trip. My group has been skiing around the world for 25 years and this was our favorite adventure yet. Our group had a fantastic time exploring Niseko and Kokusai with Sam and Sal. We booked later than planned but so lucky to have found them. They took us through trees and side country and showed us best snow. Will def use HME again and highly recommend.

Richie and Marina made our trip amazing. They judged our groups abilities and likes/dislikes perfectly. Without them we would never have found some of the best ski runs I’ve ever enjoyed. We were already talking about when we could come back after the first day. Thanks HME!

Took our annual friends ski trip to Niseko. HME was our guide service for five days of skiing and snowboarding. Richie and Marina showed us all over the local mountains. We had an amazing time, great guides and fantastic experience. Highly recommend!!
