The Berkshires are home to an impressive collection of cultural and historic sights. Get your fill of music, art and theatre at Tanglewood, the Boston Symphony's summer home, MASS MoCA, the country's largest contemporary art centre, the Norman Rockwell Museum and the Williamstown Theatre Festival. Recreational opportunities also abound, including snowshoeing, snowboarding, skiing, rafting, kayaking, fishing and golf. The Berkshires are an easy drive, just two and a half hours from Boston and New York.

Are there more flamingos than people on Bonaire? It's possible, and it's part of this unspoiled island's appeal. Bring your binoculars and your scuba gear to make the most of Bonaire's natural charms: more than 200 different species of birds live here, and the island itself draws divers from around the world to its reef-lined coast, a National Maritime Park.

<p>Take the Big Red cable car to the top of Rendezvous Mountain for spectacular views, fossils and wildflowers; from the summit you can go paragliding, or skiing in winter. Be sure to visit Grand Teton National Park with superb views of its granite mountains. Whilst you're there, take a boat trip across Jenny Lake followed by a walk up Cascade Canyon for stunning scenery. Sit on top of a volcano in Yellowstone National Park, and don't miss its two stunning waterfalls. See elk at the National Elk Refuge during the winter and spring, as well as a host of other animals and birds. Find time to visit the Bridger-Teton National Forest, a picturesque unspoilt wilderness where you can go hiking, canoeing or horse riding in summer. If you plan your trip for winter, there will be opportunities for skiing, ice climbing and snowmobiling. </p>

Ecotourism is alive and kicking on St. John. There's more than enough to do on land, from watching for wildlife in the national park to hiking miles of trails or strolling sandy white beaches. Hit the water for amazing snorkeling, swimming, even underwater photography—of course. This is the Caribbean, after all.
