- ccarlson2022Niles, Michigan315 contributionsMy wife and I love Las Vegas and go at least every 2 years. The strip is loud, bright, and smells of pot at every step. There are so many people with kids and I just don’t understand that. Yes there are some things for kids to do and see, but what they will see and hear is why I have never taken my kids with me. There are few places better to people watch than the Strip. The later it gets, the better it gets especially on the weekends. The whole place is overpriced and people will ask you for money at every block. Either panhandlers or Halloween costumes offering photos with some terrible knockoffs. Most people either love the strip or hate it but I would recommend visiting at least once for the experience. You will literally see, hear, and smell everything. On my most recent visit they had things partially set up for the coming Formula One race. I’m sure it’s great for the race fans but for everyone else it’s just a bother. If you aren’t a race fan, avoid Vegas for a few weeks before and after. Everyone talks about the free drinks. Yes you can get free drinks at every casino if you are gambling. Only at very slow times do you get service often enough to keep your pallet wet.Visited November 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 November 2024
- TravelingSoccerLoonSaint Paul, Minnesota8,539 contributionsLove it or hate it, The Las Vegas Strip is iconic. There is nowhere quite like it. Yes, it is very busy, quite tacky, loud, overpriced and brutally hot during the summer months. However, where are you going to find the 12 largest hotels in the US all on one street (and 12 of the 20 largest hotels in the world). Great restaurants, countless bars and clubs, and endless entertainment options. Even if you don't gamble a penny, you can find so much to do. Some of the most lavish pool complexes can be found here. Make sure you watch a performance of the Fountains of Bellagio especially at night, wander through The Forum Shops at Caesars and check out St Mark's Square with actual gondolas on the canals at The Venetian. And all of that is free. Just walking up and down The Strip taking in the bright lights and enjoying the amazing people watching is so worth it. And all of this is going on 24/7! With that said, the city can be exhausting. Set a daily limit on how much you are willing to lose should you decide to gamble while here. Also, you really only need 2-3 good days and nights when in Vegas. Unless you are doing other sightseeing at the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead or Red Rock Canyon, it can be complete sensory overload and the city can exhaust you if you try to overindulge for more than 2 or 3 nights.Visited June 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 24 April 2024
- S T2 contributions$20 for a drink anywhere. Incredibly expensive for anything. Harrah's carnival has a stage with live music - pretty bad music Street performers are aggressive for money. Spiderman, Bluey and Stitch. - Stitch was "rubbing" on me during pic - totally grossVisited February 2025Travelled on businessWritten 4 March 2025
- degrawmBuckeye, Arizona493 contributionsFebruary is the perfect time to go, not too hot and not too cold. Always something to do and see on the strip. Just be forewarned you might be cajoled into shows or adventures on your walk about town. We stayed at the Mandalay Bay and walked all the way down to Treasure Island. That was a walk and a half. Plenty of shops to peruse and definitely a lot of restaurants. Great people watching as well.Visited February 2025Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 February 2025
- John L1 contributionCelebrating New Year’s in Las Vegas was an experience like no other. The energy of the city was electric, with crowds filling the streets to watch the fireworks. The mix of high-end restaurants, shows, and lively bars made it a unique way to welcome the new year.Visited January 2025Travelled with friendsWritten 7 January 2025
- Miguel J.Nerja, Spain127 contributionsThis part of the city is alive 24 hours a day, shops, bars and restaurants are kept open during the early morning making it possible to party anytime. Eating in buffets, shopping or attending shows is not reduced to daytime hours, the bustle of people in the street is constant, as are street shows, music is everywhere, in the planters and walkways there are speakers and it is great to be visiting the city to beat Bruno Mars or Bon Jovi. The avenue is huge so it is not a good idea to try to do it all on foot unless you are Forest Gump, this full of bright signs and spectacular giant screens that give way to the shopping malls, bars, restaurants and shops that are part of the ground floors of the hotels. Both day and night it is worth "kicking" the avenue, regardless of everything that hotels offer, just going up and down this street is quite a sight.Visited October 2024Travelled with familyWritten 16 November 2024
- maestro h7 contributionsThis is my 17th visit to the strip, and it's always a bit different every time I go. I always love it but I like to mention a few things that myself, and others, may not like. The big one this visit was the street performers. There's always plenty of buskers on the strip but this time we saw several musicians. Whether they were good or not didn't matter because they were always very loud and distracting. Some were set up right in front of outdoor restaurants - Mon Ami Gabi for example. I didn't eat at any of these restaurants due to the noise.Visited February 2025Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 February 2025
- Bernard HThonon-les-Bains, France2,054 contributionsThere is something for everyone from "bad" to the most exotic and impressive! Everything is in excess to attract to your casino or store! Therefore it is a real exploration to be carried out for kilometers, sometimes crossing thanks to the panoramic footbridges and visiting each casino, all magnificent from the inside, where "themed" stores It will take a good day at least, ....and you will have to come back at night because there will be other "sound and light" shows. You can return to your starting point thanks to the 2 trams (one on each side) or even better by the city's double-decker bus: the Deuce, which will allow you to explore the entire stripVisited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 May 2024
- Brooke WOmaha, Nebraska35 contributionsDespite how crazy Vegas gets the strip is so well maintained. I never had any issues with trash or being able to walk. There's always a lot of construction so walking your have to cross back and forth from each side depending on which stairs or walkways are closed. We learned on the last day to use the bus system. They have a 3-day pass that makes traveling up and down the strip so much easier and less physically exhausting and runs 24/7 in both directions and to Fremont street and the airportVisited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 June 2024
