Detailed Reviews
This was a return visit and we were very disappointed. This incredible property on the riverbank is in need of TLC. The rooms are spacious, all face the river and the original build and concept were excellent. However, the property has deteriorated and is no longer 4 1/2 star. In our room one blind was broken and caught 1/2 way up, one chair had a rip in the seat, there was a bulb missing from a ceiling light fixture, the deck needed stain, one sink drained very slowly and sink and shower faucets were very difficult to control. While COVID has had an impact on major work there is no excuse for neglecting routine upkeep. As well, at checkin we were told that coffee and a light, cold breakfast would be available at 8 AM. We arrived, with several other guests, to find only the cold food. We were told that there was no coffee as guests were expected to use the ( woefully inadequate) small coffee pot and coffee packets in our room. We can no longer recommend this place.

+1
Clean, quiet location on the beautiful Indian River. What more does one need.... maybe to see a beaver on your back lawn?
The cafe staff are super friendly and the food and portions are amazing!!! We stayed 3 nights and ate there every day because you can’t beat their service or price.

We stayed two nights here in a beautiful walkout onto a patio bordering Indian River. The room was spotlessly clean with a large bathroom, queen bed, a small fridge and wood floors. Indian River Trail is nearby and we walked part of this several times, seeing beavers each time we walked. This is a quality property, and it shows with its friendly helpful staff and attention to detail.
We ate one night at the on-site restaurant (C&L cafe which relocated to Riverwood in March) and enjoyed being able to look out onto the river through the large windows. The food was excellent and the service prompt. However we were uncomfortable by limited protocol taken for COVID 19. In most restaurants we have visited in the past week, servers wore masks and everyone was careful to observe distancing protocols, but we did not consistently experience this here. In one case, the server actually removed a catsup container from one occupied table to another.
Overall, we loved this property and have already recommended it to friends.

I stayed at the Riverwood for a wedding that was booked at this Inn. The grounds are poorly kept up, weeds growing, nothing swept up, no ash trays or garbage can out side etc. The room had no hot water in the shower, the tap only let it get almost luke warm. No coffee maker in the room - when i asked about it I was told it broke they just didn't replace it yet... go figure. The bed was falling apart so you had to lay on it gently. The deck had rotten boards and felt really squishy so you were not overly comfortable on it. Also the walls are paper thin you can hear everything said in the next room. No art on the walls either so it is very echoee in the rooms. The bathroom is a nice size but the towels are only hand towels no true bath towels.
No breakfast or coffee were offered even though the entire wedding stayed at the inn, booking all the rooms.
No one at the front desk all day or night
As for the event room. Everything was to be included, Only had 9 tables set up but had to dig and scratch to find enough cutlery for the tables. Did not have enough water jugs for the tables so had to share between tables The lift on the stairs did not work so people with mobility issues had to walk or be carried down the steep incline to get into the event room in the basement. The storage room where the tables are kept is a mess and made it very hard to get the rental tables and chairs out of it. The tables should also be replaced as they are in rough shape.
The place has potential but management likes to use "Covid" as an excuse for everything.... covid does not stop you from cutting the grass and spraying weeds, or replacing boards on a rotten deck! or from making a pot of coffee for your guests.

We had been looking forward to staying at this location and were very disappointed. The facility (we stayed in the annex building, not the main building) is poorly constructed so it is very noisy - you can hear everything in the next room and every time someone came in or left the front door of the building banged and woke us up. The room and ensuite themselves are spacious but poorly constructed with inferior fixtures that are ready to fall off. The most disappointing thing was breakfast which was frozen eggs and bacon that were to be microwaved by the guest. The juice was actual children's juice boxes and the pastries etc. were previously frozen and dry. I was told there was no decaf coffee but I found it myself in the cupboard. The toaster barely worked for bread or bagels and any requests or comments were met with the COVID excuse. We stayed all over Newfoundland for nearly a month and never had this kind of poor accommodations and excuses.

Having stayed at the Inn before, we were excited to return for another visit. You are able to choose what room you want, but the inn was mostly booked for the night we wanted so we chose a room near the lobby. Unfortunately, there was a private event at the Inn that night so we found it to be very noisy until the wee hours of the morning. This was our only complaint.
The room was beautiful with a king bed and a beautiful modern bathroom. The walkout deck overlooked Indian River and was a great place to sit. Unfortunately it started to rain in the evening so we didn’t take a hike along the trail, we did manage a short walk and saw a beaver sitting on the bank of the river eating leaves. The Inn is a special place and we will be sure to return again.

The place is cavernous, immaculate, trendy, and above all, faces an idyllic view of the Indian River flowing past a manicured lawn in front and deep evergreens on the opposite shore out to islands and a bird sanctuary beyond. Breakfast is ample and included. Toiletries are the finest Newfoundland products made by East Coast Co. I’m even ordering a sampling, something I’ve never done. Oh, did I mention the utter stillness and the beavers that visit in late afternoon?

We stayed 1 night at this location. Great views of the water! We were there during the time of Covid and I can only imagine how it would have been before the pandemic. So unfortunately, breakfast was buffet style with prepared foods already packaged. This also affected our dinner options although I was never really sure if there was a restaurant attached to the inn.
However, the room we stayed in was huge! Very comfortable. Also a plus was they allowed us to do our laundry in their facility (we're very thankful!).
I'm sure this is a great place to stay. It was too bad we were in a pandemic and not able to fully appreciate all their services.

Unfortunately we were disappointed with our stay and lack of communication. When we arrived the door to the main building was wide open and there was no one around. We received an email with check in instructions. The instructions gave us wrong directions to our room and told us there would be an invoice on the counter for us. There was no invoice for us. We called the front desk and left a message, emailed you and called your cell phone and we didn’t get any reply. It took us an hour to finally find our room and get in, and that was with the help of two of your guests. We were exhausted from travelling and were looking forward to some down time at the resort. By the time we got in our room, we no longer felt like doing anything.
Also, where our room was, we could hear the phone at the front desk every time it rang.
We were disappointed that there was absolutely no follow up communication. Of our two week vacation in NL this was by far the worst stay!

This was a disappointing experience.
The setting is beautiful, the inn is lovely. Apparently there was a social party booked in the lowest level of the main building resulting in an excruciating night of noise, partying, thundering footsteps up and down the stairs and an adjoining room with two inebriated individuals at 245 a.m. who were loud both in voice and movement until about 4:00 a.m.
The room was hot, air conditioning is great but loud, and because of partiers around the fire pit we were not able to leave the windows open.
Typically I am a tolerant traveller but this was quite simply too much!

Yes, we stayed in an accessible room on the main floor.
Hi, I don't have a pet so I'm not sure about that.
