Super, friendly, lovely lady called Karen will host you at this comfortable B & B with a lovely view over the water. If you are interested Karen has the time to tell you about life in such a small hamlet and why she has chosen it. We loved our stay and will definitely return for longer on our next trip.

By the Waves B&B is only one and a half hour's drive from Deer Lake Airport. It is a good stopping place when travelling to Twillingate and Fogo Island. We enjoyed the drive leading to the B&B, which is tranquil, delightful and well maintained. Their front yard is beautifully decorated. Karen and John have upgraded the house with private bathrooms for each room. Their effort is amazing. This location is great because Nicky’s Nose blocking the strong ocean wind blowing from North East. We enjoyed the evening chatting with our hosts. At night, the stars are gorgeous. The countless stars is sparkling above you. The breakfast was enriched by the blue jays, the hosts and the yummiest, fruity, jammy food we ever had.

We are so thankful that you enjoyed your stay with us. We enjoy feeding the birds and watching them with our guests when they come to the feeders. One of the benefits to living in an outport in Newfoundland is admiring the stars in the sky during a clear night and seeing the sky light up when there is a full moon. Please plan to visit us if you have the opportunity to visit Newfoundland again.

This B & B is in a great out of the way spot. It is directly overlooking the Atlantic ocean. Icebergs and whales float/ swim by. Just over 20 people live in this fishing village and it is a neat way to see how the small fishing villages work. Sitting on the porch looking at the ocean is very relaxing. You really get to see Newfoundland. Moose are nearby.
The breakfast was fabulous.
The hostess is friendly and knowledgeable.
There was a shared bath and I would prefer my own but that is not available here.
There is only one place for dinner and it is about 25 minutes away. On a long weekend you definitely need a reservation (and it doesn't hurt on any day to be safe).
Cell phone service is not available along this peninsula.

Karen and John welcome you in to their home and business with warm and friendly smiles. We arrived there in the afternoon and it just felt like we just arrived home relaxed and sitting in the living room chatting about our trip and their lovely little piece of paradise.
Breakfast was excellent while we watch the birds at the feeder go crazy for peanuts.
One of the best B&B's we have stayed at out of all the B&B 's on our trip to Newfoundland.
Should have planned more time there!

Karen is a terrific host, the guest bedroom and living room were just right, food was excellent and so nice to watch the birds at the birdfeeder. A perfect view of the cove across the street (and lucky us that the capelin "rolled" while we were there). Somewhat of a drive from the TCH but very worthwhile, you can also explore King's Point and Rattling Brook. Very reasonable rate - plus choose the dinner option!!

We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us! The caplin rolling is a real treat for those who have not experienced this event previously. The birds sure enjoy the seed and the Blue Jays enjoy the peanuts every morning. We hope you will visit again!

John and Karen may not have been born in Newfoundlander, but they are true Newfoundlanders. We learned so much from them about life in this amazing province, and they introduced us to Harry, a man in his 80's who has never been out of Nicky Nose Cove. That meeting was absolutely amazing. Harry is full of stories and has a workshop that is full of antiques that reflect the history of Newfoundland as it was years ago. We felt so blessed to have been given the opportunity to meet this man. As for the B&B, it is spotlessly clean, the rooms are private and it boasts a large living area for guests that overlooks the harbour. Besides wonderful breakfasts, Karen now offers dinners as the only restaurant is a good 20 minutes from them. We were grateful for this option. Karen and John are so welcoming that we felt as if we had know them for years, and although we met as strangers, we left as friends.

Hi Laura! Thank you for your kind words. We enjoy having Harry in our community. He is a great example of a true Newfoundlander and a good teacher as I have learned so much about life in Newfoundland from him. So glad you enjoyed your stay with us and hope to see you next time you visit Newfoundland!

This B & B is a little out of the way, but well worth the drive, for its great oceanfront view towards Nicky's Nose Point and it's really great owners, Karen and John, who do everything to make you feel welcome at their home. Their house is very clean and comfortable with good breakfasts and good conversation to be had should you want it. The bird feeder outside the dining room was interesting, watching the "pecking order" of who got to eat first - I think the squirrel was "top dog".
This place is worth the extra drive for Newfoundland hospitality at its finest.

I had a great time at the By the waves B and B.
The couple that own this place is very welcoming and kind.
They teached me different things about newfoundland culture, traditions, etc.
That was a real pleasure to meet them, they are lovely.
My room was very clean and cozy, I felt like home.
The landscape is gorgeous, just in front of the ocean, by a nice rocky beach.
It's a great way to go off the beaten track that tourists normally follow. The little communities around are very authentic and you can do some icebergs watching there for free, you see them from the coast.
I recommend this place to everybody.
Thank you for everything, it was a pleasure meeting you two.
Cheers!
Gabrielle
