A hearty welcome from the hosts, who showed me to very large double room at the rear upper storey. Perfectly furnished and spotlessly clean, no ensuite (other rooms do have ensuites) but with the bathroom immediately next door. Tea and coffee available from the kitchen and a well appointed lounge with many books and games available for guests.

A fine breakfast the following morning set me off for the day. Parking is a few yards downhill on the one-way lane, free from 6pm to 8am and tickets roll over to the next day if your paid-for time extends past 6pm. Just £10 for a day.

The Compass Point is easily found and conveniently situated for the various marinas and sailing locations at Hamble. Try the adjacent Bugle pub for drinks and meals.

A pleasure to deal with. Due to confusion about accommodation within a group Mike had a room available at short notice. Gave tour of house - stunning! And great location.
Once confusion resolved turned out no need for room and had to cancel but Mike waived charge!
So although I never got to stay there they really are a pleasure to deal with and the house was absolutely lovely.

Lovely room with en-suite, very clean with a very comfortable bed, great nights sleep. We had the en-suite double room at the front which had river views, great to wake up to. The breakfast was superbly cooked and a nice selection of toast, fruit and cereals. The B&B itself is perfectly situated with bars and cafes close by and the waterfront only 100m away. Will definitely be going back. Highy recommended. Thanks Mike.

I stayed a week for a sailing theory course. Mike the host was accommodating with me arriving late and communication before arriving was very good. Breakfast was left in the fridge and I was told to help myself, which I was surprised and disappointed by. It’s a bit like being told to make your own bed: it’s fine but not what you’re paying for. I noticed the host cook and serve breakfast to a male guest on my final morning but this was not offered to me and it was made very clear that I was expected to sort myself out.

Shampoo was poor quality and there was no conditioner. There are hairdryers. Kitchen had flour mites in the cupboards, the butter and ketchup were out of date and the bathrooms needed a clean and some TLC. The bedroom had a lovely view but the double bed is two singles stuck together so avoid it if you don’t like a hard ridge down the middle!

The host assumed I had taken up sailing to keep up with my boyfriend, which I mention because it was demoralising and I find this kind of casual sexism makes me tired and annoyed. The location is amazing and the building is beautiful but I wouldn’t go back.

I had an amazing time for my one night stay. The host were both so welcoming and made me feel well looked after.
The entire bnb was very clean and had everything you required to feel at home. Breakfast was very tasty. Mike the host even offered to pick and dropped me off on arrival to hamble station and checkout.

Compass Point is highly recommended for all and you won’t be disappointed.

Spent just one night in the family garden room. Fantastic accommodation and fantastic hosts who were always on hand to help. Great location in the heart of Hamble. Really enjoyed the full English breakfast.

We can not recommend Compass Point highly enough. The property and rooms are excellent with all the facilities you could with for and the hosts Christine and Mike could not do enough to make our stay a memorable one. The location is great and everything in Hamble right on the doorstep.
Highly enjoyable stay and would like to go again in the future for another stay. Steve & Christine.

Compass Point is a very well appointed B and B in the lovely village of Hamble. The room we stayed in had ensuite facilities and a sea veiw, everything was immaculately clean and decorated in a tasteful nautical style in keeping with the surroundings. Everyday the kitchen fridge was stocked with an ample selection of sausages, bacon, fresh eggs , mushrooms etc. so we could prepare our own breakfast ( catering is available but we preferred the more flexible option).
Mike and Christine are knowledgable hosts and we appreciated there welcome and their input.
Would definitely like to stay here again and would certainly recommend Compass Point highly to friends and fellow members of Trip Advisor.

I stayed Friday 17th April.
On arrival I t chives a very friendly welcome.
This is probably the best B&B I've stayed in. The. Atmosphere is very conformal, and relaxing. The rooms are large, exceptionally clean, and the decor throughout is to a very high Standard. The Breakfast was too a very high standard. I would have no hesitation in recommending Compass Point to anyone. I will definitely return.

Stayed a night whilst traveling down to Southampton Monday 21st July 2014.
We travelled down to Southampton 21st July from Cumbria, (320 miles – 6hrs approx.) to look at a Motorbike with the intentions to buy.
After a long journey we were greeted by Mike, friendly welcome by him and his wife, we were handed two keys, I asked what time does the doors close, we were told we have the key to the door and we can let ourselves in anytime we wish, as Mike and his good lady live in another house nearby.
We were given the choice of our breakfast cooked or we can help ourselves as we were told the kitchen was fully stocked, basically we what we thought we going to get was just a room, however we had the run of the whole house, Living room, Kitchen etc. Our bedroom was spotless, bathroom en suite with TV, there was no tea making facilities which at first I thought was strange, but it occurred to me we had the entire kitchen, and we opted for our breakfast to be cooked.
Plenty of eating houses nearby all within minutes of walking distance, shame the Compass Point does not do evening meals, it’s sometimes nice to stay in for a meal and head for the bedroom to chill, anyways.
For breakfast we had choices of cereals, Muesli, fruit juices, the cooked breakfast was spotlessly presented, plenty to eat with lashings of jams and Toast, not forgetting good quality tea bags.
Can this wonderful place be called a B & B, but at this moment in time I cannot find a suitable name other than a B&B.
We will have no hesitation to stay here again, I believe there is a name I can use and the name is a Gem.
I did buy the bike the following morning and headed back North with fond memories of the Compass Point, Mike and his wife.
Sam B.

Hi Sam Thank you for a great review and the top tip about having change for the car park - we now have a pot of change ready! Just for future reference, in the past we have provided a two or three course meal for guests, on request and this is always an option for future visits. Look forward to seeing you again. Have fun with the motorbike! Regards Mike and Christine
