Lovely welcome from reception however our bathroom floor was covered in the previous occupants hair top and bottom! The carpet was almost threadbare and covered in stains the radiator was just a permanently cold feature on the wall,a comfy clean bed however there seemed to be a herd of elephants occupying the room above us who clearly had an early start.
Breakfast was lame and served in a conference room,I’m guessing the cooked breakfast ( apart from the eggs and hash brown) was cooked the day before and reheated - how a chef can’t knock up a fresh breakfast is laughable!
Save yourself a few quid and go to a premier Inn

Its a fantastic setting, just make sure you can park your car in their car park, as some idiots cant park to save their lives. Many cars were parked over their "lines" so 1 car took up 2 spaces.
The staff are amazing, really helpful. Just a short note to readers: Watch for room 8, the ceilings are very low in places as its in a angled roof. The door is also s,a;; and quirky. If you are tall or have back ailments you may struggle with the bending and twisting you have to do yo get in and move around.
The bed was ok, and the bathroom was very warm. Our shower started off nice, then just stopped, then started up again after a few mins.
We were informed some months ago that breakfast was not going to be served and that we had 2 options. 1: have a £10 for a local cafe (Jens) or 2: have a refund of £12.50. We took the voucher, wish we had not now, as the cheapest breakfast is over £10, so feel a little short changed at this. Dont get me wrong the food at the cafe was good, but after paying X amount for a breakfast, then having to pay again seems a tad unfair, so if we did this again, we'd take the £12.50 refund.

The food was to a really high standard both in taste and presentation. Service was great and staff very friendly, nothing was to much trouble. The building and decor are rather dated with very traditional table settings, but the view over the marina was lovely.

Lovely hotel room, comfortable bed but very disappointed that myself and my husband were refused breakfast as we were down at 10 no waitresses to be seen then apparently as it was now gone 10am due to a wedding party that we’re still eating just had there meals brought out, they then said they couldn’t serve us as they were really busy and had large bookings for Sunday roast! Couldn’t offer us anything not even a hot drink as no mugs available!
That really isn’t good enough what was a lovely stay turned into a we have to go elsewhere on a Sunday morning for breakfast that was hard then home earlier instead of enjoying our day.

We stayed in room 9 for one night. The ceiling was quite low in places, but at the same time it was pleasantly quirky. The room was very comfortable, clean and all that you would reasonably expect. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very nice with a view overlooking the marina and river Hamble. Would happily stay there again.

Have just returned home to Belfast after 3 nights at the Royal Southern Yacht Club and what a great lace to stay in the heart of Hamble. Rooms are basic enough but very clean and comfortable and the staff are so friendly right from reception to waiters at breakfast, also the views at the front are fantastic.Would definitely stay again.

We booked to stay there last friday and used google maps to make a course to ride there by bike. Mr google didn't say that there was a bit of water to cross which required a ferry which finsihed at 4pm. (yes i know i should have checked better but it was done on my phone!) so then it started raining and we ere left with a further 8 miles to get around the water. We rang the hotel and, bless them, they sent someone out to get us! Premium service from the reception team! thank you!! Excellent stay. Good food (maybe a bit larger dinner portion as i was still abit hungry..maybe some bread?
Yes a good stopover.

Stayed there for a change of venue on short trip to New forest. Nice rooms, good dinner and excellent breakfast also at a pretty decent price. All with lovely views over the estuary. Easy to get too, friendly staff despite the yacht club image. Don't be fooled.

Had a drink at the club which we enjoyed. However, my main concern was the amount of rubbish particular plastic around the property. We took a walk around the car park to look at the boats were taken back of the amount of rubbish laying around the far end of the club. The area looked more like something from an industrial site rather than a plush sailing club. There was also dumps items like a washing machine and other rubbish.

Such a shame to see when we all are trying to stop plastic going into our oceans and this club cannot even manage rubbish in their own grounds.

Come on Royal Southern, you can do better than this!!

My husband and I along with my sister had booked into the hotel from Saturday to Monday, prior to going on a cruise and thought it would be a great place to stay and explore the area. Upon arrival we found our room to be lovely. It was a family room and the third bed was as comfortable one which is not always the case. On Sunday morning we went down to breakfast to be greeted by a waitress who took our order for a cooked breakfast, we also helped ourselves to cereal while we waited. After breakfast we went on our way without any problem. The next morning was our anniversary and were looking forward to a great day ahead. Eager to crack on we made our way down to breakfast only to be met at the door by a snotty individual who asked us even before we sat down whether we required a hot or continental breakfast. We all opted for the cooked as before and again the three of us helped ourselves to a small amount of cereal. Mr. Jobsworthy came to our table and informed us that he had asked which breakfast we wanted and as we had helped ourselves to the continental breakfast he was going to charge us for that in addition to the cooked breakfast. We explained that there hadn't been any problem the day before to which he incredulously replied "Nobody said anything to you?" To save any embarrassment we decided to stick with the continental and cancelled the cooked. While we filled up with the limited choice on offer we, and anyone else within earshot, could plainly hear him telling the chef that the order had been cancelled and crowing that he had told us. He had quite a conversation again plainly audible which made us very uncomfortable and quite ruined our breakfast. We finished as soon as we could and decided to leave. While my husband and sister took the luggage to the car I went into reception to check out. The receptionist had left her post to do something with her car so Mr. Jobsworthy tried to work the computer so that I could check out but he quite unprofessionally mentioned that he didn't really know what he was doing and would have to wait for the receptionist. It was obvious by their attitude that he had told the receptionist what had transpired in the breakfast room, I felt as if I had been put in my place! I did give Mr. Jobsworthy a piece of advice though that the next time he had occasion to speak to another member of staff about a guest he should ensure it couldn't be heard. This situation certainly put a damper on my anniversary, I had hoped to have used the hotel on future occasions as I have family nearby but that will not happen now.
