We visited as a party of 13 for a family birthday meal, waitress was excellent and food was really nice. We had the roast dinners and over all was very nice, however the suede and carrot mash was very salty and the red cabbage very sweet which is not to my taste. The desserts were bought in from somewhere but nice enough.

We paid and a few of us went for a walk around the country park, we left one guest who was less able and two who wanted to stay for a pint and watch the rugby. When we returned to the pub we sat down for a short while whilst everyone returned. The barman who had not been on shift when we had lunch there an hour before came over and asked if we wanted anything, we explained that we had had lunch in there an hour before and just waiting for the stragglers before leaving. This would have been fine except the barman then returned to the bar and proceeded to have a conversation with someone about us, it was very blatant and I am assuming he did not like the fact that we were not buying any further drinks. This made us feel extremely uncomfortable and we left.

It was just a shame that after such a nice meal that one barman can put a dampner on the day, we bought a lot of money to the pub and left a considerable tip, however, we are unlikely to return now.

I choose the place because I need a place to take pictures of incoming cruise ships. The location was about two minutes away by car to an excellent location to take pictures. We arrived at 22:00 hrs in Poole and could not make it until 23:00 hrs when the pub was closing. But they were very kind and said they would be there until 23:30 hrs. We made it to 23:15 hrs, so not a problem at all. Leave your baggage in the trunk since the rooms were outside the main building; you must not carry it all to the bar for registration. In the room: everything was in what you needed, and everything was clean. To my surprise: we got the same brand of shower gel we would get on Cunard ships! We had to go to the main building to get breakfast the following day. We found an excellent selection of cereals on the bar and a breakfast menu; everything was prepared freshly. As a non-English, I was impressed by the size of the plate and the variation. The Password to enter the WiFi could be less complicated!!!

We stopped over here for two nights , us two and two dogs
The room was very well appointed and clean with plenty of coffee and tea etc.

The shower was good , in fact almost too good as the shower and sink have tremendous water pressure so care needed filling the kettle and when I inadvertently turned the shower on too far for the first time the shower head nearly shot off of the wall.
Good double glazing means not too much noise from the nearby beer garden if you need an early night.
The Royal Victoria Park is a very short walk away and we'll worth a visit as well as the cemetery.
We ate in the pub the first night and had a very good meal ,the second night we had fish and chips from up the road and ate them looking over the sea .
So , reasonable price , good location, grade 2 listed building, comfy bed, dog friendly, good food and friendly staff and a good shower .
Minus points .. Taps on the sink very short which makes it difficult to fill the kettle and a fiddly handle on the door to the room which makes the door difficult to close from the outside if you have big fingers .

A pre-sailing holiday and post holiday stopover night. I could not have found a better place or better hosts, I’m sure. Warm welcome, well spaced out and Covid compliant in the bar area, super conscious team in that regard.

My room was very clean and comfortable very pleasantly presented, and had all the expected creature comforts and some pleasant surprises too. I’ve stayed in exclusive hotels that charge for water for example, both still and sparking were included in the room.

Then, the breakfast 😍! Lots of choices but it was a holiday so the full English it was, and it was amazing with locally sourced bacon and handmade butcher sausages and huuuuge tasty big flat mushrooms, and all the trimmings, and no fat or grease anywhere to be seen on the plate. Shout out to Karen for being so welcoming, great morning conversation and serving an amazing breakfast. I’ll be back soon...

Stopped by the Prince Consort for a Sunday lunch with my mother and my partner. The consort is a very attractive pub and obviously popular. The Sunday lunch was great and my mother who is a small eater chose to have a child’s portion which was still very generous for the price.

My partner is gluten intolerant and the staff were extremely helpful.

The food was excellent (great roast potatoes) and lots of veg to go with a good-sized serving of meat. I’d recommend this pub to anyone looking for excellent value, a well-presented meal, and a well-kept pint.

Attended as part of a funeral party. Covid restrictions well adhered to. I have no idea how the landlord is still a landlord - thought they were supposed to be friendly and welcoming? This one (Pepe?) most definitely isn’t! He’s rude and surly! The buffet was very good, especially the pizzas, with a good amount of gluten free which was well labelled however I was shocked to learn if the price per head - if I’d been paid that much for what was served I’d be smiling from ear to ear! Highly overpriced!

Met up with a friend and we decided to meet at The Prince Cosort for a coffee which was excellent and ended up staying for lunch.

I had the liver and bacon special and it was delicious. The liver was cooked pink and served with plenty of mash and vegs and gravy. Very tasty. Well priced and plenty of it.

We looked online and liked the menu, shame about the owner, he seemed a bit miserable as if we were a nuisance, couldn’t have a table outside, but the food was excellent. We had a prawn baguette and a club sandwich both were served with chips and dressed salad, fresh and plentiful. We will come again to try the ploughman’s

Called in friends for a quick drink and a bit of food, we were happy to split our group across a couple of tables as we appreciated a bigger group would be more difficult to seat on one table. We were told by the landlord that this was not possible as the kitchen was busy and instructed his staff not to serve and take our orders for at least an hour!! I’m happy to wait if the kitchen is busy but to not even be able to put an order into the queue is disgusting. There were families coming in during that time being seated and served on unreserved tables. Suffice to say, we were all bitterly disappointed drank our overpriced drinks and left. We will not be returning or recommending the Prince Consort to anyone else.
