Detailed Reviews
We spend 2 nights at this lovely hotel. Located near the beach and castle, we were in walking distance to both restaurants, the near beach at the river and the boat that took us to the other side of the river and the Atlantic beach with huge waves. Ask for seaview!!
The staff was very helpfull and friendly and we recommend to stay here!

I don't believe I've paid €80/night for the apartment. It is not worthwhile. The furniture is old. The bathroom leaks out. (room 01) The sofa/bed has poor quality. The commom area has some trash. The apartment itself was clean and staff friendly. The location is good. less than 10 minutes walk from historical center and beaches. But I really dont recommend, unless the price is around €30/night

We stayed for 2 nights here, and let me tell you, it was the worst accommodation I've ever stayed in. I've stayed in nicer hostels. Management is nowhere to be found because it's a family run place and they only keep a few hours during the day and are gone after 5pm.
I'll start with the good: friendly check in/check out. We muddled through the language barrier and everything was fine with that. We had to prepay through expedia which is fine because we were able to just leave after we dropped off the keys. She has some english-portugese phrasebooks to help at the front desk. The location is good too.
The bad: I was under the impression that the rooms were newer, or at least renovated. Nope. We were stuck in the old part, with hand me down furniture and absolutely no air circulation. Normally I wouldn't be bothered by an uncomfortable double bed and a grimey shag rug, but as long as it had a fan or A/C. Nope! Even opening the windows at night did nothing, the wind stopped at night and it was stifling. Every waking moment we didn't want to be in there. The wifi didn't even work in our room, we had to go and sit at the bottom of the steps near the door to use it! I wish we would have spent our money someplace else, there were literally dozens of other rooms and hotels all over this town we could have stayed at. If you're going to stay here, make sure it is the apts and not the rooms. The only time these would be decent is for a single traveler just looking to crash one night in the winter (cooler) for a sorta cheap price. Even 60 euros a night felt like I overpaid for this place. Never again!

The apartment itself is spacious and has good light, but the amount of dust made both of us sick ( what a great honeymoon!!). I had to wash the floors and furniture and the cleaning lady didn't even bother to apologise...The blankets smell dusty and make you sneeze. We are definitely not coming back nor recommending it.
