Detailed Reviews
We spent two nights at this accommodation and whilst, like other reviews have mentioned, the place is a bit shabby chic in places it really was pretty special. We arrived and had to check in with Duna Parque office actually in Vila Nova De Milfontes - so be aware, it is not that easy to find!
Apart from that, the place an incredible charm. It is quiet (our kids were not quite so quiet) and the pool area is amazing with incredible views. The bar is an honesty bar type thing and the whole place has a calming atmosphere and amazing greenery with all types of flower, cactus and bush growing.
Our little apartment was incredibly clean and quite adequately kitted out. Little kitchenette that had been recently redone it seemed and a lovely terrace right on the edge of a sectioned off bit of river with two canoes and a peddle boat that we could use. Not the newest equipment but functional and loads of fun for a wee shot with the girls. It made it very memorable. You can also use canoes a bit further down the road and people went out onto the actual river which looked really good. This is all part of the accommodation, so no extra cost. There were also lovely walks about which we didn't manage sadly.
Vila Nova de Milfontes is a lovely little place with some great restaurants and impeccable and beautiful beaches. Be aware that the Moinho Da Asneira is part of the
Duna Parque group of hotels and you are able to get a wrist band and use any of the facilities such as gyms and swimming pools, which is a nice touch.
You will need a car as mentioned but we didn't think the entrance and exit was too much of a difficult drive. All added to the exclusivity and fun of the place. We would definitely return if ever in that area. It was a bit of a pot luck booking and it worked out brilliantly.

Had spent over a week touring Spain & decided to book 6 nights in one place and this seemed to tick the boxes. Checked in at hotel in town & were told that we could use the hotel chain spa & indoor facilities in town and were given armbands for this. Drove to location and found a beautiful spot on side of estuary - causeway a little hairy and parking at lower level of the site restricted however lots up at top by the large owners villa. This is a curious mix of very old - the mill itself, the main house, which has the pool and breakfast room and a cafe/ bar and lounge (run on an honesty basis) and additional accommodations which have been built in the grounds on the side of the hill leading down to the river. We the 1 bedroom estudio de moinho at the lower level. We didn't see inside any of the other accommodation so cannot vouch for its standard. They have obviously had an issue with damp in this property and there was a dampness in the bedroom. Also under sink a strong chemical smell. Cooking facilities were basic & difficult to use as no markings on the switches to indicate on/ off/ high/ low. The seating inside & out wasn't very comfortable, neither was the bed. It was all clean enough but tired & in need of a real thorough gutting. However we were not paying very much and you are really here for the location.
The owner, Heini, is the most lovely lady who made us very welcome and was extremely gracious and hospitable to us. She obviously loves her home and is very proud of what her late husband and her have created over the years. Not sure how much management Duna Parque hotels put in, but their staff were not on site but could be reached but phone.
The estuary views are incomparable especially at sunset and there is walking to be done around the curious deserted fish farm. You cannot swim in the lagoon or estuary here- there is an outdoor pool at the house and it is fine. The coastline here is fantastic and this is a great spot - but you need to have a car, and not mind slumming it a bit in the particular accommodation we had. We only stayed 3 nights then moved off to south coast. No walkable restaurants.
Very much in 2 minds about this place.

The bed of our house was great, with a wood roller thing that can be used to eat in bed, great pillows and sheets, cool that we could use their partner hotels amenities (pool, bar, etc.). The road is not that good, its a bumpy dirt road, but not that long. There was also a spider and ants in our room, and the cleaning ladies only made the bed. Other than that, great view and very peaceful

The location is beautiful and breathtaking, the houses are great and the staff is kind.
Thereās a self-service for drinks and a small pool with the most amazing view.
One thing that is rare, they allow you to stay after the check-out enjoying the facilities: I had to check-out until noon on Sunday and I stayed with my family until 5 pm by the pool side ā thatās great to feel welcome and not just a paying costumer.
If you stay for a few hours youāll see the landscape change completely because of the tide ā thatās quite amazing and rare. Itās as if you were watching a National Geographic documentary with your own eyes.
I loved it, my kids loved it and weāll come back for sure.

I spent 1h in the street to do the check in of the property I rented. The time to check in is late - at 4:00 and they ask us to check out at 11:00. It is unacceptable. Each person is spending 15m to get the keys, when we need to send all the info via email before arriving here. I donāt recommend this place specially if you are coming with the family to spend the weekend.

If you are looking for off the grid, remote, down a 1 mile gravel road with overgrown weeds, you should stay here. Itās nowhere near any services, so bring your own food. I would not suggest driving here at night. When we first went on the road, we thought we were completely lost, but no, itās that remote. The rooms are old and outdated, and smell like mold. Water out by your deck, so beware of mosquitos. My brother loved the remoteness ā¦. I disliked it and it seemed unsafe to me, being so far off the grid.

Run away run away, don't waste time viewing the photos because it's all a facade. Booking at Moinha da Asneira is a real MESS because when you approach the place you see the deplorable condition both outside and inside. It's a robbery for people who save for vacation and are scammed.

Hello, after our miserable arrival in this hole, we requested a refund. The pictures do NOT correspond to reality. The amount paid (remaining amount upon arrival) at reception was refunded but they do not want the deposit, despite this nasty scam with false photos. No maintenance of the facility, doors that are closed but you can still look outside because they were simply poorly made. Paddle boat in bad condition, swimming pool does not match the photos, etc. So people, stay away from this facility and in general this Duna Parque group... I would even give it 5 stars in the minus... you will get bad reviews from us everywhere and will try to write a negative review on every platform

+1
Such a nice place! Our āroomā was more like a little flat, with basic kitchen, lots of space, clean. The staff was super friendly and the breakfast delicious. The view of the river is meditative! The pool is small but nice. Short drive to town and all the hustle and bustle.
