A very lovingly furnished room, a breakfast room where in the afternoon there was also coffee and cake for the guests, very friendly and service-oriented staff. Perfect spot for our womens hiking group. Maria took such great care of us, recommending restaurants, providing directions, taking care of our gear. We enjoyed our fresh tuna salad sandwich lunches she made for our long hiking days, complete with homemade cake we got to smell baking while resting in the late afternoon. How do you solve a problem like Maria? She helped a member of our group who felt ill find a clinic on a national holiday. Hope to return. Clean, well located, warm atmosphere.

This accommodation was a very good surprise to me. It's placed right in the center of the town within a short walking distance from a lot of restaurants and the "river beach". We had a room with balcony which was really good having partial view to the "river beach". Realizing that the quality of every detail in the building is so good, you can only expect a good stay helped by the friendly staff. The breakfast was very good with lots of options and taken outside in the terrace was a plus. Lovely place!

We had chosen to stop at Villa Nova , to make a stop between Lisbon and the Algarve. We were very happy with our stay at this very clean and modern establishment. This small Pension is very well placed near restaurants in the city center and we appreciated the charming welcome of the manager. The value for Award is really interesting with breakfast included. Really good step.

We stayed at Guarda Rios while walking the Fisherman’s Trail of the Rota Vicentina. Maria was the friendliest host we encountered on our trip. We were offered cake and port on arrival and Maria told us about the ferry we could take to avoid walking back along the main road again. The room was clean with lovely touches and the bathroom was very stylish. A great breakfast was provided which set us up for our day’s walking. Highly recommend a stay here.

Wonderful small and family accommodation with excellent service. Nice rooms (recommended Deluxe with balcony and river view), very tasty breakfast, very attentive staff and especially worth mentioning the freely accessible room with water, tea, cake, fruit for guests. The hotel is a small oasis. Everything is furnished with love. The owners are extremely accommodating and helpful. The breakfast buffet is small but has everything. Fresh eggs are prepared as desired. The room with river delta views was very nice.

We spent 4 nights in a lovely room with a fantastic view over the bay. Lots of lovely little extras including home made cake and complimentary local drinks. Maria and Maria 2 made us very welcome and couldn't have been more helpful.

My wife and I recently stayed in this wonderful hotel which is situated right in the heart of Vila Nova Milfontes. Our room was lovely and spacious with a great balcony. The best thing about this hotel though is the attention to detail and the little extras that they provided. Such as complimentary cake and port. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and the service provided was excellent.

I only visited in early October so I would call the folks at Guarda Rios to find out. There are enough restaurants for a week stay and some I would fine at more than once to try the other items that looked delicious.

There is parking on the road outside of the hotel. It is pretty easy to park out of season although the roads are quite narrow. I understand that in June - August it is impossible to park due to the number of visitors to the town.
There are more places to choose from in the Vila Nova de Milfontes area.
