We stayed at The Alley one week ago and the rooms were lovely. We were very disappointed to find that the hotel bar and restaurant weren’t open. Despite the closed facilities, we were still charged full price. We didn’t complain and accepted that sometimes these things happen. The problem we have is that we have been charged twice for a two night stay. We have been charged more than €1000 for two nights. The hotel still haven’t refunded the extra charge and are not calling us back and won’t pick up the phone. I would advise checking your bank statement upon leaving.
The hotel is well-situated for bars, restaurants and public transport. We had a double room on the first floor overlooking the garden; there is no lift access to the first floor. Our room was spacious, modern and clean. The bathroom was amazing - a large walk-in shower cubicle with an overhead shower and a separate hand-held "wand". Water pressure was excellent and there was always plenty of hot water. There is a hair dryer in the bathroom. The double bed was very comfortable, and there are soft and firm pillows available. There is a kettle in the room and tea and coffee are provided. The small fridge is adequate but the cupboard that it is in gets very hot unless the door is lest ajar. There was two small bottles of water and a complementary bottle of wine in the room when we arrived. Aircon was efficient and, one huge advantage, does not blow directly over the bed. The buffet breakfast was varied and there was plenty to choose from. If you are a tea drinker the hot water tank does not dispense water hot enough to make a decent cuppa! Staff were courteous and welcoming. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for a stay in Argostoli.…
I stayed at the Alley hotel for two nights at the end of a week long trip in Kefalonia. I booked the deluxe loft suite for our stay, however having read some of the reviews beforehand, I was a little hesitant as to whether this hotel would be nice. I’m so so glad that I didn’t change the hotel as everything was great. The air con worked really well and cooled the room down very quickly, the room was massive, very modern and super clean. We were provided with complimentary toiletries, coffee and tea (which other reviews mentioned was missing), dressing gowns and a lovely bottle of wine. We had a fabulous view over the capital but I am aware that there is a building being constructed on the other side as mentioned in some other reviews so you might be unlucky. It also seems that a lot of the rooms have been refurbished and modernised since some of these older reviews so you should consider that when decided whether to book this hotel. The hotel has a very tiny fitness room which I wasn’t aware of before booking but was perfect for a workout with a selection of dumbbells up to 10kg and a cross trainer. The hotel owner also owns a Pilates studio in town which I didn’t manage to book into for this trip but would definitely do on my next visit. I also visited their sister hotel: Thalassa which is only 7 minutes away and also fabulous with a great pool and day beds. Breakfast was perfect with a good selection of sweet and savoury dishes which varied slightly daily. The location of this hotel is perfect! Within a 5 minute walk you’ll manage to find a few bakeries, coffee shops, souvenir shops, restaurant, bars and supermarkets. On street parking was always available in the streets around the hotel and it’s free! We also managed to see the turtles in the morning just by the harbour front. I would definitely stay here again 😊…
we leave for home tomorrow 30th May, had a wonderful week at this hotel.very clean, lovely room with even a complementary bottle of wine . Staff very attentive nothing to much trouble . Usual Greek inspired breakfast which which was good . Lovely big bed with smashing pillows and lots of them . Bathroom little dated , but nothing to prevent us returning . All in all great hotel great staff, great location. We will be returning .
We spend 5 nights with my wife at the Alley Hotel and we loved it! They had excellent service from happy people, the room was absolutely clean and the common areas as well. The hotel have a cozy design and the location is ideal. I wish we could stay more.
Our stay was just perfect! Large, pretty, comfortable rooms, accessible wifi, lots of variety on TV channels, great location, amazing breakfast, staff very professional (perhaps could be friendlier from the beginning, but they warmed up to us and made our stay even greater). The only downside I see is the parking, but can be managed with free on street parking if places available.
Where else on earth could you get up to a good breakfast, stroll across the road to the harbour and sea turtles and a profusion of fish and marine life every morning for a fortnight. The friendly, hardworking staff at the Alley Hotel could not have done more to ensure that we had a wonderful time. The room was spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable with one of the best showers we have every had. Towels and bedding were changed much more regularly than we have previously experienced. While the situation affords fairly limited sea views and there is some street noise, this is an ideally situated hotel within easy reach of both the harbour and the popular town square so there is a wealth of excellent restaurants to visit.
Bad and poor breakfast, mold in the bathroom, balconies full of pigeon stools. Pillows with no protective interior cover, noisy street from nearby bars. Three days old pies that when are not consumed they are reserved. Don't visit, save your money.
Stayed in a suite room for 2 weeks. Wonderful, friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast was great. Safe and secure. Close to all the best restaurants in the area and nearby where you can spot sea turtles every morning. Large balcony with excellent view.
We stayed one night on August 9 2021. The hotel advertising is deeply misleading to say the least. The seaview is mostly obstructed by an ugly construction site with a tall bare concrete frame of 4 stories that as per the receptionist has been abandonned for years. One of the room in the "loft suite" had no actual windows. We got a fifth bed for our teenage girl that turned out to be a rusty camping bed with questionable stains on the 1 inch thick matress (blood ?). As we left the hotel the next day and asked for a refund for the next 2 nights that we were supposed to spend the manager refused and kept our full 886.50 € that we paid back in may ! They could have easily refunded the nights we didn't spend... The whole thing looks like a well organized scam with extatic reviews and fancy pictures...Stay away !…
