We were fortunate enough to spend a couple of days here last month. It's located in a lovely site with all the amenities one could hope for. The décor is wonderful. Classy, warm and inviting. Cleanliness is of the utmost. The four meals we enjoyed were top notch. A definite winner!

This was our favorite place in all of Sicily. I was baffled at the negative comments left by others so I want to share our personal thoughts (perhaps lengthy) if for no other reason than to thank the hosts for our wonderful experience. My husband and I spent 14 nights in Sicily each night at another location depending where we ended our day. We found Colle San Mauro available on a booking website. I always quickly glance at the negative comments and laughed out loud at one complaint that there was no other restaurant nearby and they had difficulty getting back there late at night after dinner and wine in Caltagirone. Seriously? The reason to choose an agrihotel is the peace and tranquility of being remote and taking advantage of having a meal onsite prepared with their own fresh ingredients and to avoid the hassle of driving and parking especially after a full meal with alcohol. So I phoned the property requesting a room and dinner. We arrived thankfully just before dark. Yes it was a bit out if the way, yes it is not the easiest drive. But the turnoffs were sufficiently marked. We went into the restaurant and asked about the room. The owner took us to the reception area where we met the man I had spoken to. We asked if we could have a quick swim before dinner which was fine and we asked for dinner at 8:30. He said dinner was at 8:00 so we hurried. The pool.....gorgeous, amazing, and beautiful with the lighting and surroundings. This is the deepest pool I ever encountered. Even the shallower end I could barely stand. We arrived at dinner to see every room had a reserved table set with wine and water. We did not find menus; however, shortly afterwards, waiters appeared from the kitchen with trays of appetizers. We now understood why we were told 8:00. It was a set menu served banquet style. The appetizer plate was a variety of 10 or maybe 12 different items. Next came a plate of two different pastas with sauces. We are not fussy eaters so we actually welcomed the suspense of wondering what would come next. The meat was a pork with porcini mushrooms. All was delicious and with no indication what the dinner would cost, we resigned ourselves that this would be our ‘extravagant’ night. The hotel has obviously undergone major renovation. Our room was nice and spacious with an old style but modern comfort. Ok not everything was perfect....it missed a light fixture (a bare bulb) and the shower could use a small tray to hold soap. Also the electic socket did not fit the plug of the provided hairdryer. But, we really did not care about this minutiae. Every new or re-construction has little things that are still in the works. We get that. The following morning we had a wonderful breakfast! I was enthusiastic to see more of the property, especially the horses as I was missing mine at home terribly and was eager for the familiar feeling of one between my hands again. Sadly we had a downpour of rain and when it finally subsided, we decided to leave in order to stay on schedule. Our biggest surpise was when the bill came. The amazing dinner we had turned out to 25 euros per person including wine and water.....about half the price we anticipated! So for 63 euros for the room plus 50 for a full dinner we felt we had really been fortunate to stay here. I must mention that the WIFI was not working for us or others in the restaurant. For us, not a big deal as we have European mobile service and enough data not to be dependent on WIFI. That said, it was also not always easy to have a good signal. Again, we had little need to be connected to the rest of the world for the one night we spent there. However, for those for whom this is of great importance, this is perhaps not the right choice accommodation. Past negative reviewers commented on activity programs and entertainment staff. I do not know if these programs still exist but we were grateful that at the time of our stay, there was nothing like this occurring, no groups but rather just other couples and families enjoying the peaceful environment. To conclude, our experience was a 10. In fact, I have perhaps underrated other places we stayed due to the comparison with Colle San Mauro. We will undoubtedly return should we find ourselves in Sicily again.

This agri turismo was part of a tour, so we had no choice. If I ever see it on a future tour I will skip that tour. Staff was not at all professional or helpful given several opportunities. The AC would not turn on, and two staff gave an excuse that it takes 10 minutes to start. After 40 minutes, I finally found someone who knew something, and he got it started in less than a minute. Breakfast should be easy, but not here. They regularly were out of coffee, and the hot food was not hot. It was also nearly impossible for our very professional driver to find, and it's at least 30 minutes from anywhere.

A lovely, relaxing place to stay in the rolling hills of Caltagirone. The main house is warm and comfortable. WiFi is available in the lobby and the restaurant. It also works at the pool and the Gazebo. Each room is named after a place in Sicily. The rooms are nicely done and very clean. Though we would prefer to be able to control the AC since we like things cold but the Windows are screened so you can open them in the evening. We were very comfortable in the same room as our two sons. I would recommend an update on the shower curtains because ours was ripped and sinewhat unusable. The Agriturismo is beautiful and relaxing. They have animals to look at and horses to ride if you like as well as a friendly cow. The meals were all very delicious and plentiful. The staff is discreet but very friendly and helpful. They really did their best with our limited Italiano and their limited English. They sell their own wine as well which is very good. We bought 6 bottles ourselves. They also have a Spa but we did not make use of it...next time! Adults and children both had a great time and we all want to return!!

We booked a romantic weekend in a Agriturismo for my wife and I that turned into the worst getaway we have ever taken! So I'll take you through the events of the weekend (10-13 Sept. 2015). We are being very fair in our view of this establishment. The first night was OK.. We got there late, ate dinner and went to bed. The next morning we woke up, walked around ate breakfast and went to swim in the pool. I thought there were going to be activities, but they only came up with a stupid game that lasted about 10 minutes. Lunch was great! The food is excellent and the male waiter that serves the food is professional or cordial. We had asked about using the Spa, but the rude hostess (Veronica) that was supposed to help us was too busy doing other things like complaining about her job and talking on her cell phone. After dinner we asked Veronica again to schedule us for the Spa and she told us to wait by the pool and she would be right with us (acting as if we were bothering her). The next morning after breakfast we went pool side and there were not enough lounge chairs for the two us. The owner of the establishment asked Veronica to bring us two chairs and she disappeared. My wife had enough and asked one of the maintenance guys to get them commenting that Veronica must not want to work. The next thing we new the robust Veronica got in my wife's face and demanding to know what her problem was with her in front of other guests. My wife explained that the night before she had left us waiting an hour for her to return to schedule time in the Spa and left us there counting stars in the sky. Veronica stormed off and her idiot colleague (Don't know her name) showed up and TOLD my wife that she wanted to talk to her in the office. I followed and as she started to tell my wife what a terrible person she was for making Veronica cry I stepped in and told her that she needed to stay out of it and that she didn't know what had happened. She told me that we could leave. I laughed at her and told her I wanted to talk to the owner. After to all was said and done we spoke to the owner who apologized and finally scheduled us to use the spa telling us that we would not have to pay the 15 euros to use their crappy Jacuzzi, sauna and Turkish bath (Lie... We paid for it). SO... The two worthless hostesses never apologized for the way they confronted us with other guest around gave us evil looks the rest of the time we were there. Our Votes: Restaurant: Excellent variety of rustic flavors and serving staff are professional. Hotel: Not Great-Clean but no soap in room, pillow was terrible, mattress was like sleeping on the floor the last night (Saturday) they played loud music outside out room until midnight like we were at a concert at a strip club. Spa: Garbage- Massage was terrible, Turkish Bath was cold (Sauna was OK) and Jacuzzi was dirty and and oily! Complete waste of money! Wi-Fi was absolutely terrible and because the hotel was in the middle of no where very little cell service Activities: Terrible- The two ladies that we in charge of entertaining the guests of the hotel we too busy complaining about their jobs and talking on their cell phone to plan anything half way entertaining. Horse back riding-Fail (Only a post partum mare was available to ride) Archery was dangerous (Arrows were broken and bounced off of the metal target the idiots had constructed), animals were cool to see and there was a nice play ground but no real planned activities just off-the -cuff crap that the two women that worked there came up with. Pool was very nice though even if the diving board was broken and appeared to have been broken for a while... Bottom Line- They need to fire the two hostesses that work there and find two young ladies that want to work and know how to treat guests. Maybe look outside of the uneducated population. It is important for a place in the middle of nowhere to at lease employ a half way decent staff! Just because this establishment was awarded a silver award in the past does not mean that good service ends...

It was a 2 nights stay, received well and accommodated. The staff were calm and assisting. We could walk freely in the farm and enjoy fruits and see animals, as in Paradise, a pleasant memory. The food was amazing but not the price. I would give one less star only for the price food. I felt ripped off when paying for food. I advise the management to kindly review this. Otherwise we loved it.
