Nicely situated at the end of the old town. Parking was not a problem. The room we got was perfect: a separate room with couch and tte bedroom big enough. Good bed: we slept well. Service was very friendly. Nice bar though not much frequented by guests the time we were there. Good host to talk with (Spanish, English, German). Nice aquardiente on stock. Breakfast was not inexpensive but very good. No elevator but only one floor high.

Stayed for the 3rd time in 5 years. the location is excellent, the rooms are lovely. The owners are happy to chat and open the bar. There is fantastic walking in the area - and driving the mountain roads is entertaining.

Travelling by motorbike we picked this hotel a couple of years ago so when we returned to the area we popped in again on the off-chance, and enjoyed the stay even more. We will doubtless be back again. The proprietor is friendly, the rooms are very comfortable and the whole ambience is relaxed. Potes has great places to eat so we didn't eat in the hotel. There was a safe place to park the bike. There are some fantastic walks in the area. On our first visit the staff didn't speak much English so we had to use our halting Spanish, this time their English had improved greatly.

Stayed one night here, the room was fine but the gruff lack of any welcome or kindness was unbelievable, and that was despite my husband and I trying to be positive and friendly about the owner's hotel. After reading reviews of great welcomes and generous breakfasts from other reviewers,we were about to be disappointed badly. I have given at least 7 reviews and all were positive. I do not like to complain unless really necessary. But after 2 years of travels in all parts of the world, and 3 weeks in Spain,we received the meanest breakfast ever. One really thin slice of ham and cheese each, and 3 tiny discs of toasted bagette,a yoghurt,1 piece of fruit and tea and coffee. But this was his dearer breakfast of 7 euro each, not the cheaper 5 euro one apparently.
To finish off when we got the bill he added on nearly 7 euro in tax. This had never happened in all the other accommodation, either included or a minimal amount. A rotten experience of being fleeced for no reason despite paying well for the room.

We booked the our stay at the Hosteria Picos de Europa based on reviews from another Web site because there were no TripAdvisor reviews. We chose the hotel because we needed a large enough room to accommodate 3 adults and a small child and because we had read that there was nearby public parking for our rental car. Potes is a small village with not much parking near the hotels. It is basically a 1 main street kind of town and the Hosteria is situated at the end of that main street so it's close enough to everything but away from the noise of the late night party goers. We were very pleased with the accommodations. The building is old but beautifully restored. It felt like going back in time. The rooms were quite large by European standards including the bathrooms. There was a small TV in the room which was great for entertaining our small daughter for short times while we in the hotel getting ready for our next excursion. The hotel serves a continental breakfast (not a buffet, but actually served) for an additional charge but for the price of the rooms and the convenience of not having to go find breakfast somewhere else it was well worth it.

The husband and wife who ran the place were extremely helpful. We had fluent Spanish speakers in our party so it was not an issue, but if you only use English you should know the wife only speaks Spanish but the husband speaks a little English. They were fantastic

The hotel is very easy to find, as it's by the side of the main road, and there's a large free public car park next to it where it was always easy to park.We stayed here for six days, and had a Junior suite, room 104 on the first floor. We had a very welcome sitting area with small fridge and a kettle, a modern bathroom and a separate comfortable sleeping area with a desk. The temperature was in the 30's some days, but our room was always cool and comfortable because of the wooden shutters over the windows. We had no trouble sleeping even though the room overlooked the main road. The hotel was very clean. We had the full breakfast each day which consisted of strong coffee, or English breakfast tea, a slice of tasty local cheese, a slice of cured ham, toasted baguette, butter, jam, a large slice of sweet melon, a fruit yoghurt and a sweet pastry or cake which was good for elevenses! The owner is a mine of useful information about walks in the area. Potes is fantastic for walking, and has lots of good places to eat. There are also interesting local churches and a famous monastery.

We have visited this hotel several times and it never fails to please us. Superb food at the restaurant, good size room, beautiful situation on the riverside and the staff as friendly as ever. Secure place for motorcycle parking and comfortable lounge and bar areas. Central location in Cabrales and a fantastic ride in the Picos to get there. If there is a negative it’s that there is no air con in the rooms, but because of the location and large windows we have never found this a problem. We will be returning for sure.

Stopped here on the way back to the ferry at Santander. Is basic but welcoming and ok. Wouldn't choose to stay for anything other than a stopover though at least Potes has great places to eat.
No air con and limited ability to open windows made the room rather uncomfortable at night.
Staff not overly helpful but got the job done.

I booked for 2 nights in June 2014 but left after a couple of hours.
I was so disappointed with the standard of the hotel and the manners of the staff/owner.
The booking was made through booking.com whose policy is that to cancel you must give 7 days notice, how do you know what a place is like until you arrive as the reviews seem reasonable.
Having had to pay for the 2 nights I left and checked into a far better hotel close by that was cheaper, even when walking in of the street.
I've tried to recover one nights cost from the Hosteria Picos de Europa but the management refuse to refund as they say I was offered a suite, room 203, as compensation. I find this very strange because the room I was given on arrival before any complaints were made, was, room 203!!
The hotel is dated, the staff very dismissive and generally there is not a welcoming feel to the place.
The secure parking for my motorbike that other reviewers mention was on the path next to the entrance to the hotel!
I was unable to open the balcony door, reluctantly the receptionist show me that a hard pull was all that was required which means that from the outside all that is required to open it is a push!
Would I book this place again?....only if I wanted to pay over the odds for an inferior hotel.

We needed a hotel on this side of the national park and found this one through a website for "Motorbike friendly" accommodation. It is a classically cool place, the proprietor is very relaxed and friendly, the rooms are spacious, the bed was very comfortable after a long day riding around the mountains.

We ate in town for dinner and had breakfast at the hotel, just for convenience, it was a very nice and generous breakfast with great coffee so I was in heaven.

Spanish buildings have wooden shutters on the windows so no matter if it is hot or cold the room is very comfy, the noise is deadened and you can black out the room for a sleep in if you want.

There was no problem with communication with a mix of Spanish and English on both sides we got through everything. Even googling the next hotel in Pamplona to make sure the satnav would find it was not a problem.
