This beautiful hilltop property overlooks spectacular 360 degree views, which bring your gaze as far as the neighbouring islands. The white-wash character of the building amongst the olive groves in the garden, is your archetypal Greek environment. Janet, the lovely owner, makes you instantly feel at home. A place we would want to come back to.

Just back from an overnight stay at Janet’s place in Fiskardo. I would recommend this accommodation if you are planning a trip to fiskardo. Janet is a lovely host and the accommodation is delightful and in a great location. You are literally a short 10 minute walk downhill to the harbour where are the tavernas and bars are. There is also a great taverna and bakery right across the road from the accommodation. We went to the bakery for coffees and the taverna for breakfast. The grounds of the accommodation are also a beautiful and a delight to sit in. Well worth a visit and I would not hesitate to stay there again

Stayed here for two nights, mainly based on the photos etc of the rooms. Set in large garden with olive trees, and various sitting areas, the highlight are the views from the rooftop which are stunning. Our room had a private bathroom and although we love the basic Greek rooms we have stayed in before on other islands, this was frankly very dated. The wardrobes had a musty smell to them and the bathroom was in need of some improvement. The mosquito blind was frayed so we were unable to sleep with the doors open although the air con system was new so that was a welcome addition. Our main disappointment was there was no kettle, iron, fridge or hairdryer in the room. Whilst you can buy breakfast at extra cost, we do like a cup of tea/coffee on waking. The hallway is very spacious and a suggestion of a kettle/tea tray for communal use would have been very welcome. There is a fridge for communal use in this area but to be honest it had seen better days albeit it did do the job. There is ten minute walk into the centre of Fiskardo along a main road (15 walking back uphill). We didnt find this much of a problem but it can be a fast road with twists and turns so beware walking back in the dark. Having said all that, the gardens are traditionally lovely and Janet was friendly. For the price we would probably look for somewhere more modern next time but hey ho we enjoyed our stay and Fiskardo is a dream place

Just got back stayed here for a week, if your looking for 5 star accommodation forget it ,if you want a real greek setting look no further, Janet the owner is one of the nicest people you could ever meet, nothing is too much trouble, 10 minute walk into fiscardo 20 minute walk back (uphill) or €4 in a taxi, breakfast is available for about €7.50 per person, proper Greek food ,we looked at newer properties in fiscardo, but you wouldn't get the space that you get at this property, if you want to go to fiscardo you could do worse than go here !!

There is a real peacefulness pervading Janet's Art Pension and it was a delight to stay there recently. Our studio apartment was simple and comfortable and surrounded by olive trees providing shade for relaxing under, or indeed for enjoying Janet's utterly delicious Greek breakfast. There is a small beach nearby called Emplysi, which is perfect for an early morning swim, and the walk into Fiscardo itself (which is lovely) only takes about 10-15 minutes, but be mindful that the way back is slightly uphill. Janet herself is a pleasure to know and for whom nothing is too much trouble. A delightful experience.

We walked in without booking and were lucky for the availability of one night. Beautiful suites and the service was impeccable. Highly recommend to stay here in the heart of this magical town . The staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and settle in .

The simplicity and beauty of Janet's Art Pension and the kindness, thoughtfulness and warmth of Janet herself made this a simply wonderful place to stay. We are already planning to return next year. The villa is situated roughly equidistance between the beautiful port of Fiscardo and the very beautiful Embilisi Beach. It is only a minute's walk from the very friendly Restaurant Mirella. We were so very happy staying at Janet's villa and it made a very special base to explore the beauty of the surrounding area. Thank you Janet for your lovely home and for the generosity of your hospitality.

We were looking for a real Greek experience of Kefalonia and liked the fact that Janet (who is Greek) only had a handful of rooms in her home, each one different, some with an integral kitchen. We were not looking for purpose built 'touristy' accommodation so absolutely loved our stay. The rooms are simple in a traditional Greek style, very clean and serviced daily. There are shutters on the rooms and doors for night time which block out the sun wonderfully, which makes for a great night sleep, when you open them in the morning you are squinting in the sunshine...like coming out of the cinema in the day. Ours had a fridge just outside our door, ideal to chill water, beer, wine etc. It was such a peaceful, relaxing place sitting under the olive trees listening to the cicadas and stargazing at night. Janet is such a warm, lovely and kind hostess nothing is too much trouble. She provides a most delicious breakfast alfresco in her garden on request, with homemade jams and breads, super Greek yoghurt, fruit and local honey... even a rare Greek cheese covering fresh tomatoes that can only be sourced from a small shop in Argostoli! It is the little touches that made it special...coffee, homemade biscuits and Turkish delight on our arrival, a candle in a lantern by our door when we returned from the town at night..handing us some apricots she had picked from her tree.. to a little note in our room saying there was fruit in jelly in the fridge if we wanted some. On her roof terrace the panorama of the islands of Ithaca, Lefkada and mainland Greece is beautiful..made even better with a glass of something before dinner. Janet's is perfectly placed for exploring. It's just down the road from the beautiful Dafnoudi beach, as keen snorkellers it was our favourite as we saw the most diverse range and number of fish. We stayed in May at the start of the season meeting two couples, and a single traveller, all of whom were repeat visitors to the pension..what better testament! Do we recommend Janet's ...absolutely....would we return..absolutely.

We stayed at Janet's for 8 nights from 2 to 10 September. We spent one night in the first floor room with terrace and bathroom outside the room (35 euros per night), three nights in the large ground floor bedroom with double bed and ensuite bathroom that backs onto the garden (45 euros per night) and four nights in the ground floor room at the front of the house with twin beds, terrace and en suite bathroom (40 euros per night). All the rooms are simply and tastefully decorated and there is plenty of storage. Janet makes the beds and cleans the bathroom every day, which is great. The garden is really lovely, and Chico the cat is very friendly too. Washing line in the garden is there for guests to use. We had access to a fridge and freezer the whole time for storing ice, Campari and soda, and nibbles for our nightly aperitivi on the roof terrace. The roof terrace is a wonderful spot, with beautiful views of Ithaca ahead and Lefkada to the left. As the sun goes down behind you the soft pink light hits the mountains ahead, truly magical. So much so, that my partner thought it made the perfect backdrop for proposing to me, with Ray Charles playing in the background! I said yes! A lovely dinner in Fiskardo (a 10 minute walk away down the hill) followed, a night I will not forget! Janet is an excellent host, always on hand to help (ring the cow bell and she will come down from her quarters!) and offers plenty of tips about beaches and good swimming spots. Best beaches: Foki (lovely taverna there too - huge portions!) and Dafnoudi (quite a long walk down but so worth it!). Best restaurants in Fiskardo are Ellis, and the Thai restaurant The Lord Falcon. We ventured to the latter on our second to last night for a break from Greek cuisine and it was really very good indeed and has a lovely dining room, which is covered but open air. The walk back after dinner in Fiskardo was very good for the digestion! No need for taxis unless it is raining (in which case it is 4 euros per way). For an unforgettable sunset cocktail and dinner, Acqua at Alaties beach cannot be beaten. It's about a 10 to 15 minute drive from Janet's but so spectacular! We took our hire car but I understand a taxi is about 10 to 15 euros each way. Overall Janet's is a wonderful place to be based for exploring this fantastic part of Kefalonia.

Janet's Art pension is simple, shabby chic accommodation at it's best with a few mod cons added in. (wifi and air-con). The pension is a 10 minute walk up a long, moderately steep hill from Fiskardo and about 8 minutes up the other side of the hill from a pebble cove called Emblissi Beach. We chose Janet's because of it's size and simplicity - we wanted a quiet relaxing holiday and that's exactly what we got. Janet's breakfast (available for 12 euros for two) was amazing: bread with home made jam and marmalade, feta with tomatoes and oil followed by yoghurt with honey and nuts - all served under the olive trees in the garden. Our apartment was pretty, and had fly screens on the window and patio doors - there are also external shutters which when closed make the room pitch black. Perfect for those holiday lie-ins. The view from the roof of the property across to Ithaka is to die for - there are even a couple of sun loungers to sit on to watch the sun go down. Janet is the perfect host - full of information about things to see and do in the local area. She has a wicked sense of humour and some funny stories to tell too. If you're looking for 5 star luxury then this probably isn't the place for you, but if you want authentic Greece, with a perfect host and some peace and quiet then I would definitely give Janet's five stars. Note: There seemed to be a general problem with wasps in the Fiskardo area which was a nuisance when eating outside but Janet had a wasp trap near the breakfast table to deal with any invaders. The local restaurants tend to burn Greek coffee to deter the wasps with mixed results. I would say anyone who anaphylaxis should probably avoid the area.
