Another exceptional stay at Porto Galini After loving our stay last year we decided to come back for a relaxing week away from work and the U.K. Everything at the hotel was perfect We stayed in a superior sea view room which was worth the additional cost Very comfortable and clean room with amazing views from the large balcony The food was excellent with a huge choice of high quality products at breakfast and dinner The staff are so helpful and friendly particularly those in maintenance, reception, the main restaurant and housekeeping The beach was dreamy looking out across the Ionian sea to the mountains of mainland Greece The pools were beautiful, clean and well maintained The whole hotel and extensive ground are immaculate and a pleasure to walk around Thank-you for a wonderful holiday and I’m already looking forward to coming back one day soon

From the moment that you arrive to the moment you sadly leave the hotel and its staff are amazing . We spent a week here and can't wait to head back in 2023. The private beach is beautiful and even more so at sunrise and sunset. Get up as the sunrises and go for a swim ...... you will not regret it. The pools are beautiful and just a few steps from the beach. Our room didn't have a view but that didn't matter as within twenty or so steps we had the prettiest of views and breathtaking beauty of the beach, sea and beyond. We loved being on the ground floor as the kids could easily come and go. Food was amazing and offered a great selection even for the fussy teenager. having drinks and food served to you on the beach is a brilliant experience. The rooms are clean and tidy. The staff are fabulous, helpful and so very friendly. There is easy access to the bus stops and the hotel can help order taxis so you can get out and explore the beautiful island.......the blues and greens are unbelievable This place is just a little bit special.....don't believe me book it and experience it for yourself

From the nice welcome with cold fresh towels, to the clean, comfortable rooms, great food, nice pools, wonderful gardens, all that attention to details…absolutely outstanding!!! As for the private beach, that is a little paradise! I am looking forward to going back! ❤️🐟🏆⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This hotel is situated in a beautiful scenic area of Leftkas. We were absolutely delighted with our room overlooking the sea, waking up to a stunning view made our holiday. The staff are so helpful and welcoming they could not do enough for you. The food was outstanding with different themes every night and really high quality. The main areas are very clean and the hotel has comfortable sun beds around the pool and on the clean beach area. I liked the touch of waiter service as every subbed had a call bell. I cannot fault this hotel and don’t really want to tell everyone about it as I want it to stay all mine 😃

We planned to stay in Lefkada for 2 nights, but extended our stay due to the great experience in Porto Galini hotel. Many aspects of the hotel were good: - The pools are very nice, and we also had wine by them at night. - The restaurant were breakfast is served, is very nice, the staff gave us great time, and the great food gave us few extra kilos... - The private beach is beautiful, and allows FREE Kanoo / kayaks (single and double) , and SUP. - The rooms are very nice, even if not taking the highest room level. That's really a great place to stay. We came all the way from Athens, and that was justified !

The Porto Galini Lefkada has an amazing setting with fantastic views across the sea to mainland Greece. The staff in the restaurants, bar, at the private beach and in the Spa are friendly, helpful and efficient. The pool areas, as with the rest of the public areas off the hotel are well kept and clean. Its location means that a car, taxi or local bus are needed to get to the nearest resorts of Nikiana and Nidri. By the number of babies and young children in the hotel it would appear that the hotel’s children’s facilities must be very good. This does mean that if you have children that this is a good choice of hotel however, if you don’t have children and want a quiet stay it is unlikely you will get peace and quiet for long! We unfortunately were let down by the reception and reservation staff. Having paid for a superior garden room we were allocated a room on the same floor as reception that looked out on to the domed rooftop of the spa in one direction and directly on the main driveway in another. Not what anyone would consider a garden view! However what was so shocking was the response to asking if we could be moved to another superior garden room. From the beginning it was clear the answer was ‘no’ and that they had absolutely no intention of trying to move us even if it was part way through the week. Given the hotel purports to be 5 star, the attitude of the reception staff and the women in reservations was quite frankly shocking. Two days after asking we saw that approximately 25 people were leaving the hotel and so I asked again whether one of those couples room would be suitable for us. I was told that every one of them were people in sea view rooms. In fact their story was that everyone checking out was in another category of room and that they were full! A little hard to believe but hard to prove otherwise. On complaining that I left they were letting us, the rest of the hotel staff and Greek hospitality down I was told I was entitled to my opinion. Not very 5 star I venture to say. However, overall the hotel is lovely (not 5 star) and so if you get the right room, have or love being surrounded by young children and babies, this may be the hotel for you. We won’t be going back or recommending it.

This is when I wish we could give half marks to give Porto Galini 4.5/5 as 4 seems a bit low, but I couldn't give it 5 for a couple of reasons that I will explain further down. But first, I want to talk about the good stuff, and there is a lot of it. - The massive majority of the staff were absolutely fantastic. From the cleaners, to the shop staff, reception staff, spa staff, and especially the pool bar, breakfast/buffet staff and one (Nick) of the lifeguards (I say especially as they are the ones we dealt with the most!). - The views from our room (and from most places really), the comfort of the beds and size of our balcony were great. - Food was very nice, as a vegetarian there was a lot of choice for me, just not that much for a vegan, so my wife struggled on some of the buffets. - My daughter (9) had an amazing time at the kids club and we can't praise the ladies there enough. - The private beach is beautiful, clean, plenty of sunbeds and the free kayaks/paddle boarding is a fantastic perk. Loads of fishes to see when snorkelling in the shallow waters. - The pools were always clean and same with sunbeds, plenty of them, nicely spaced out. Nice touch to also have pool/beach towels provided. Before I get to the less good, the amazing views for the rooms right at the top come at a cost. 148 steps from the pool area to our room, it was fine for our family but it is to be kept in mind for people with mobility issues. Now for 2 main things that bothered us during our stay. The first one isn't technically the fault of the hotel, it's more how the hotel dealt with it. There were some large families who had no regard whatsoever for other holiday makers. Letting their kids run around the restaurant at breakfast or buffet, using their own speakers at the beach, and other unnecessary anti-social behaviour, mainly an unhealthy amount of unnecessary noise. The second one is the situation around the pool. Whilst we understand that safety is paramount, one lifeguard (not Nick) made it his mission to tell most (and I say most because he wasn't consistent) kids off for simply jumping in the pool. Apparently jumping and diving is the same. Some kids were let off though. The ones from the loud, large families could do as pleased, or the kids from the families that the lifeguard would befriend and spend time chatting and laughing with. By any means, stop kids backflipping in the pool, or being over the top in their behaviour, but don't suck the fun out of kids who jump in a very quiet pool with their parents right there supervising. And also, be consistent, either the rules are for everyone or no one. So those 2 things would have taken off half a mark for us but that's it. If you are in doubt about paying more for a sea view, just do it. You'll see the sunset over mainland Greece every morning, and maybe (like us) an amazing morning storm over the sea.

Dear Mr Demian, I read your comments to my wife's review and I feel obliged to replicate though I would have rather preferred you dealt everything in person by simply accepting the reality and apologising for your misbehaviour... It is also very strange you never took your time to talk to me during my stay, but suddenly had the time to search for me by SMS with a threatening message and by phone asking to remove a simple TripAdvisor review with an insulting tone. So these are THE FACTS you should have personally faced and you didn't: We stayed for 1 night at your Resort in a group of 5 adults and we booked 1 triple room and 1 double room and we were offered a standard official rate which was the same rate available on line. We were fine to pay the given rate directly at your Hotel instead to a web provider to your advantage, since ours was a last minute reservation (which you charged at our arrival before escorting us to our rooms). We started being surprised when we all (5 people) realized that in both rooms assigned to us there was a disgusting smell of sewage (to be gentle…). Your staff was so aware of this fact that as soon as we mentioned this to your front desk, they immediately assigned our 3 friends a larger suite (as an upgrade) located in the opposite area of the resort, which was fine for them (no smell finally…), while our second room you assigned to us (with the “intention” of finding a solution) unfortunately was in the same area of the previous one and despite not having the disgusting flavor INSIDE the room, it still had the same disgusting flavor when going out in the private balcony overlooking the sea (how romantic…). I mentioned this to your Front Desk and simply told her that, since there was no other room available, I would have expected a discount on the Price of my Room since of course the problem had not been solved and I had to be locked in the room in order to avoid the bad smell which was not what I had paid for, (the rate I paid for included a balcony and a sea view), and your staff member said she would have to talk to the Manager and let me know about the amount of discount she would have granted, since for her there was no discussion about my reasons. No call received for all the rest of the evening. It was already 10pm and I didn’t want to waste my holiday time to come back to reception with an additional complain, since my stay with your Hotel had already been ruined, and I’m not the kind of person who likes to complain. I’d rather have preferred a fast check in to a normal room without bad smell. Since you mention my wife’s request of a special menu, this is what happened with no need of counterfeit: you had a Buffet Chinese Dinner at your Restaurant that night, and I confirmed at your Front Desk we were willing to pay for 4 regular buffet menus which had a fixed price + I kindly asked your restaurant manager if he could grant a special price (not complimentary of course) for the 5th person who would only eat at the salad bar by picking the available fruits, since she is strictly fructarian (not vegan, you should check the difference…). Your Restaurant Manager was smart enough to favor the request by allowing my wife a special price and have all the five of us at your restaurant (nothing strange about the request, it happens everywhere, thank you for the courtesy in accomodating the request). Regarding mattresses, I think we can let public audience decide by themselves by looking at published pictures. I travel to more than 200 5* Rated Hotels every year for business and I can confirm your mattresses are (in my modest opinion) far from what Luxury really means. After this sleepless night with no possibility to open the windows in order to get “fresh” air, I simply got to reception in the morning to ask what was the result of your “meditation” since I had not received an answer AT ALL, which any 5 Star Hotel would have given to a Guest with a problem (even a NO answer is an answer…). At Reception your attendant said: “We didn’t call you because there will be no price adjustment on your room”, which was the opposite of what the previous colleague had said the night before. I then really wanted to talk to the Manager, who was called by phone and said “he was busy”. So again (since I wanted to give you a last chance to show first of all you are a Gentleman, before you are a Manager) I WROTE A PERSONAL NOTE to you and hand it to your Front Desk attendant with the request to deliver it to you, while in the mean time I had to pick up a boat I rented which I would have brought to the Hotel (that has a pier) and finally check out by boat. In my note, which is attached, I clearly indicated the reasons of my discomfort and again you didn’t have the kindness to come out of your office even when I returned to pay my check out bill and when you would have had the opportunity to personally apologize for the series of mistakes during a simple 1 night stay. That being said the issue is only one: you have a serious sewage problem in your rooms as well as your central pedestrian pathway. The second one is you don’t care in person for your Guests’ discomfort when you are in House which is even worse in Luxury Hospitality Business. I'm happy about your scores (not happy if you strongly discourage real comments when problems are involved as you did with me in order to raise your scores), but this does not mean I have to accept to pay for a room with a sewage problem the same price I would pay for a room without such a problem. My Review is just the result of your evident problem combined with your incapability to handle face to face a Guests' discomfort, which is far different from a complain.

We did find this hotel in an online search so we didn’t know what to expect upon arrival. What a nice surprise! The hotel is one of the best we ever visited. The construction is modern with good quality materials. Rooms are spacious and well equipped. Fantastic private and well organized beach. Full beach service and activities. The grounds are cleaned daily and we could see them starting cleaning early in the morning. Take the half or full board plan as the food is top quality. As a matter of fact we thought of going out for dinner every night but we changed this plan and stayed at the hotel. The chefs are incredible and the local ingredients used are so tasty. Also, it was the first time in 5 star resort that we met the general manager, Vaggelis? we think, without having to look for him! This guy is from another planet. He was everywhere running everything and we didn’t even know he is the brains of the operation until the last day. One could tell of his involvement by meeting his staff. All the people working at this hotel were so nice, helpful and always with a smile. It seems that the manager knows how to hire good people first and then all the rest. In conclusion, we recommend this hotel without any reservations and we plan to visit them again. Try to book directly with them. Lefkada is a beautiful island with dramatic views and scenery as the mountains feel touching the beach! The city at night can feel crowded but you can always find a nice cafe or icecream place. There is easy access from the mainland through a small bridge so you can drive straight in. An unbelievable vacation for us just by chance because we wanted a hotel on the beach. We are sure we can write more in this review but everything will be positive but you’ve got the idea… Plenty of parking. Umbrellas always available at the beach and pool. Daily room cleaning on demand. Rooms with sea view a must. Good selection of local wines. Top italian and restaurants on site.
