Memories Cayo Largo offers a vibrant stay, with live entertainment frequently enhancing the atmosphere, according to many guests. The resort is celebrated for its cleanliness, with well-maintained grounds and rooms, although some guests recommend packing extra toilet paper. While opinions on room maintenance vary, the stunning views often leave a lasting impression. The all-inclusive amenities and beach proximity are a hit, despite some supply shortages. Service-wise, the staff's warmth and attentiveness are highly commended, adding to the hotel's fair value proposition, even with some concerns about additional costs.

Our time at Memories Cayo Largo was amazing, a direct flight from Ottawa to Cayo largo was so delightful.
The resort it self is very nice and clean, easy to navigate, and whilst being there they constantly make sure your needs are met and they want to know how the can improve. Some rooms need some regular maintenance like patio doors not closing or needing grease to move freely and some electrical plugs moving.
Although, for $1,055.00 CAD for 7-days (March 25th to April 1st 2023) all inclusive cannot be beat, it was worth every penny. This is Cuba, and in my experience the food was good, the El Ranchon was by far our favourite, with many delicious offerings and the view whilst eating your meal is simply unreal (the best I’ve had on any trip to date).
As others mentioned the beach has become quite small, which is due to natural factors of hurricane and tropical storms, it used to be very long but this cannot be a complaint as it is not the resorts fault, nonetheless the beach is still very beautiful, and if you’re wanting something simply gorgeous there are other beaches you can go to. We found ourself going to Playa Sirena 3 out of the 7-days, via by “train”, taxi or renting a scooter/atv with a travel time of 20mins max. It is that picture perfect beach you’d have to pay a lot of money for anywhere else. Playa Sirena is simply gorgeous with various wooden gazebo’s for shade, palm trees and umbrellas. Nice calm waves and a slow decent for the waters depth, a nice gift shop, small marina and bar with food and drink (beer and water) included in your Memories stay.
And lastly, my favourite part, the staff.
The staff were the best I’ve ever had at any resort/hotel, they were all super helpful and warm. By far the star of the whole resort was our “butler” (as they call them here, more like a person who looks after all your needs from A-Z) her name was Ana. If I could give her a review it would be 5 out of 5 stars, at the start she was quick to get us booked for the al a carte at the El Ranchon for the week (which is constantly fully booked), answered a million questions from me with a big smile and she was happy to show us around and inform us about many services which no one else did/offered to. Many places lack these types of staff like Ana, which often times can make or break a resort in my opinion.

We definitely will be looking forward to coming back to Memories Cayo Largo and enjoying another beautiful time!

Every year my hubby and I pick a destination to spend the holidays together. We have been to different parts of Cuba 18 times. This year was an unique trip and provided a heart warming vacation we will never forget. Thank you John, Rachel,Marcus, Annie, Julie, Angel, Jovan, Oscar, Isabel, Entertainment crew, 24 hour crew and all the bartending boyz.

The airport and flight ...who cares we landed safely.
Memories staff met us at the airport bus and from day one we built friendships and shared many laughs. They were very social, joined us for lunches, played games at the main pool and it was a great opportunity to meet other guests.

On Dec 24 Eve my hubby dressed as Santa, had small gift bags for everyone to thank them for spending Christmas with us when they wanted to be with their own families.
Food was excellent for the Gala and well organized. If you miss a meal, the 24hour grill for bacon cheeseburgers or chicken sandwiches or omelettes were yummy.

Room had a brand new bed, bedding, black out curtains, new a\c unit and fresh towels everyday. Fridge always stocked with cold drinks and provided with extra water when requested.

Beach. The magic of Mother Ocean is still present. We are beach people and never missed a day. That's one perk of CL is to have access to the West end beaches. Unforgettable sunsets. There were days we only saw a few people in our daily walks. No hustling or sardines style beachfront just space and glorious clear water.

Gym has 6 cardio machines, open floor section with mirrors and a large free weight room that we used everyday. Basketball courts in great shape and busy with hoops.
I ran everyday from Memories to Sanctuary. I had no issues stopping for water at other resorts or using washroom. Runners\walkers bring your water belts and electrolytes..it was hot when you are away from the ocean breezes.

We are returning to Memories again in January & February 2023. The price suits our budget and the staff exceeds the true meaning of feeling welcomed.

We had a great experience staying in Memories Cayo Largo week of Jan 13th. The fresh air, genuine white sand and real turquoise color sea water. Water was warm and very clear; you can see all sort of sea life.
The stuff is amazing, very helpful, working non-stop long hours, days and month and should deserve respect and best reviews for service.
The food was very good for Cuba, knowing their struggles and shortage of supplies you can always find things like: smoothies, yogurt, pancakes, omelette for breakfast (Big Thanks to Omar, Alain , Yari & Kati) or salad, seafood or pasta for lunch or dinner (Thank you Alain, Angel & Jander) We had exceptional dinners: in Ranchon and the restaurant. One night amazing dinner with lobster, another night - red tuna and salmon. It was delicious! Thank you, chef!
We liked life music during the day and night entertainment. Thank you Niury for patiently giving us salsa lessons. You are the BEST! May be sould be a little bit more authentic, cuban dancing at night.. as suggesion:))
There is a gym, SPA and tennis court, hair/nail salon on a site. Full body massage was amazing, reasonable (can be done at the sea site) and very popular. Have to book in advance, day or two before.
The Bar and 24 hrs snack bar are very popular place all day long. They have great coffee drinks and at night popular Cuban drinks.
We rented a scooter for a day (very reasonable) and explored the island; visited local village, turtle sanctuary and biggest highlight of the Island - Sirena Beach. There is a buffet and bar at the beach. the beach is long and not busy. It was pretty calm and great swimming (day when it was windy and high waves at the resort)
Resort is older, sometimes things that we use to and take for granted in Canada don’t work well or don’t work at all. Its Cuba. But experience was amazing, the island is unique, the place is very safe and people who work there are super nice and very hard working!

Thank you to all stuff
We certainly will come back

We were at the memories the week of August 25th. First time in Cayo Largo but multiples time in Cuba. The hotel itself is really clean, rooms were very nice, hot water and air conditionning all the time. There was not really a beach but $2 per person for a 8-10 min ride in a taxi to go to Sirena. ( if you take the train it is 25-30 minutes and go in the first wagon unless you want to feel like you are in a amusement park ride lol )

The Sirena beach is beautiful, you can eat in the buffet and have drinks (all included) and the water is cristal clear.

Regarding the food, we did miss the first few days fruits and vegetables but they try to to everything they can with what they have so complaining about the food will not change anything. Be creative. They had alot of spinich so we added them to our pasta, added ham and cheese to our crepes, etc. The food is good, just a few shortages here and there but we ate very well. Even the pasta station (my favorite) there was hot peper flakes, garlic, etc. We even had roastbeef that was really good.

The staff is simply amazing. I have a special note for Alexei Sosa Lopez, our butler. So nice and helpful. He knew our names fast, always came to see if we needed anything, took the time to talk with us. Made sure we were happy and liking our stay. Also Miguel at the bar, talks some french and was always smiling.

We went to the turtle sanctuary and i do recommend it. $3 per person plus the taxi. (Credit cards only)

For tips, you can tip in canadian and USD but if you tip in loonies and toonies, please bring $5, $10 etc that are in a very good condition to exchange their change, or else they can't change loonies, toonies and teared up or very bent dollars.

This resort is really a perfect place to relax, have a open mind and if you have any concerns, simply see with the staff, but please respect them since shortages are out of their control.

Right from the beginning Memories Cayo Largo welcomed my family and friends with talented dancers and staff to help assist us to our rooms. The Sunwing representative in a brief orientation provided us all we needed to know in a humorous way. Besides the most beautiful beaches in the world to me the staff at Memories Cayo Largo where the highlight. Starting with the entertainers. John, Marcos and Yoli communicated well in English, French and Spanish. They had us all laughing and participating in activities all day into the late evening. They did not stop. I have no idea where they get their energy from but it was definitely contagious. The cooks, wait staff and bar tenders were also so friendly. They were always smiling and friendly. I had the pleasure to deal with mainly Joe and Dunya. But all of them were so hard working and willing to make an concoction you requested and never expecting any tips, but very grateful when you did. Our cleaning lady was Heney. She was so lovely. One time we forgot to lock our safe and she immediately came looking for us to check it to make sure nothing was missing and to lock it. Honestly this place is so safe we left are sliding doors always unlocked and most of the time our front door wide open. Ramiro and Gionbis the gardeners welcomed me every morning with beautiful flowers to put in my hair and carved turtles and made flowers from the palm tress in the evening. They again worked so hard morning, noon and night to make the place look like paradise. The resort its self especially for the price we paid you couldn't ask for any more. The pools were clean and nice the rooms were great. There was tons of food to choose from and was always good. Regarding transportation. Don't take the trolley it was a bumpy ride and it doesn't run by first come first service. You have to be pushy and it only takes a few minute to wait and $2 per person to take a cab. If you want to rent a scooter or Jeep I would suggest booking it the first day you arrive as it is always booked. The beach right at this hotel is not recommended to swim in as the waters are not very calm. However when there is no red flags up allot of us did and it was allot of fun. However you can not miss the other beaches available to you by cab. They are absolutely gorgeous!!!!
I will definitely be one of the many repeaters to return to this resort again soon.....

We traveled to Cuba at the beginning of December. We always travel to Cuba around these same dates, we have visited different places such as Havana, Varadero and Cayo Coco, which was our favorite… until visiting Cayo Largo!
The destination is a paradise, virgin beaches with no buildings, hotels and thousands of tourists.
We stayed at Memories Cayo Largo and it was a success. We were treated wonderfully, the staff was very attentive and pleasant.
We have to say that the place in the hotel that we liked the most was the bar that is outside the theater, there was a very good atmosphere between clients and employees and despite the fact that there were many people we did not have to wait for our drinks.
As I mentioned before, we travel a lot in Cuba, and I know that one of the weak points is the food, but not in this hotel. Both the variety and the taste of the dishes left us surprised.
We loved the hotel's beach, forget that it no longer has the stretch of sand that some Caribbean beaches have but the beach is gorgeous, the staff at the ranchon were also very attentive and the food was delicious, plus you are eating with a total view of the ocean.
The cleanliness of the room is good, air conditioning works in order and the water is quite hot. Our maid was very attentive at all times, we asked her to make our room every day at the same time and she always complied.
We have very good experiences and memories of this trip, thank you very much!

We stayed at the resort July 14 -July 21,2023
It was our second visit here since 2016
Same, as at the first visit, we really enjoyed stay here due to beauty of nature and great people working here. Special thanks to our concierge Ernesto ,as he tried his best to make sure our stay is pleasant and enjoyable. Every time he saw us he asked if we need anything and was ready to help. Also we met our old friends Palacio and Benny. They work in this resort for decades and it was a pleasure to discover that they still provide outstanding service to us and other visitors. Big thanks to Guillermo from lunch and dinner restaurants( Doesn't this guy look like Hollywood's Anthony Queen?)
Pool attendant Ivan deserves respect as he is working hard all day long in scorching heat.
Now to the activities: our favorite was release of the baby turtles in to the sea. Local turtle farm brings them to the resort and for $3 you will get opportunity to have your own turtle swimming in the vast space of the ocean. Turtle farm is not Government funded organization and totally relied on donations ,so be generous. On the way back from the this event, please pick up few plastic pieces from the beach and dispose them properly at the hotel .It doesn't make sense to release turtles and make them die few weeks later due to swallowing garbage that we left at the shore. No matter where you are ,it is still our Planet.
I also ask resort manager to switch plastic drinking straws to paper ones ASAP, as they are everywhere!!!
The only little disappointment were evening shows that need BIG improvement. I'm saying so cause I can compare to shows at other resorts in Cuba.
We are definitely planning to return.
See you soon Cayo Largo !!!

We have been going to Cuba since 1970’s for the pristine beaches and water.

Having been to most of the best properties and beaches on the island we settled on Cayo Largo's
In recent years as the best fit for us and stayed at Sol Cayo Largo which is now a Memories.

Our January 20th was the first time back since Covid and we flew SunWing which now is the exclusive carrier
Along with Blue Diamond resorts for the Island.

SunWing got us there in the wee hours of the next day after a snowstorm delay in Montreal.

Unbelievably full staff were there to greet us including the new Manager Julio who we and he both recognized from previous trips

Our room keys and info all taken care of at airport which meant we could go directly to our rooms where bags were delivered .

This allowed us to go and have our first Cuban Rum at the convivial bar where we were greeted again like prodigals by some of the staff.

Our requested room was just where we wanted it and had been newly refurbished with the paid for ocean view
And close to the Au Natural beach we like.

Unfortunately Global Climate Change had followed us and the miles of beautiful white sand beach were inundated with high water making it totally inaccessible.

The rest of the pools and property had been painted fixed and brought up to the 4 star standard indicated.

The smaller beach had now umbrellas and lifeguards and staff managing chairs and helping us across rocks to
Get down from board walk

There is now more of an integrated beach between those who wish to sunbath and swim nude and those who don’t but signs do mark the distinction

Once you get the sense of it each style can feel comfortable with the reduced beach.

Buffet is similar with needing to find what stations you like while 3 speciality restaurants still can’t quite live up to expectations

Shows at this small resort were remarkably good and innovative

A strong push for and increase in Italian Tourists has led to more of a European flavour and flare to the resort.

Our first time back under new management which are to be highly commended .

This after 10 previous times.

Shame about our favourite beaches high water but if you hadn’t been there before you wouldn’t know

And find it a great Cuban Resort.

It was a wonderful experience to know Cayo Largo del Sur. We did not know this place, we always traveled to Varadero and Cayo Santa Maria. A friend of ours who has been there 3 times told us that when we came here we would not want to go to Varadero anymore. When he showed us the photos we were delighted with the place and we booked for 5 days, from Tuesday to Saturday.

I have to highlight that I was impressed by the service, excellent without exception from all the staff depending on the guest, I rightly believe that this is one of the main reasons why customers repeat so much. Mention for the clerks Guillermo, Milagrito and Fofi in the buffet breakfast and dinner, Mercedes in the folder, Emir from cubatur and Berto in the transportation within the key. Congratulate Alfredo, the Hotel managers and his team for the excellent work they do.

For a 4 star hotel it is very good, the facility is comfortable and very beautiful with a lot of nature and vegetation, the pigeons and birds ate near us, we saw several zunzunes. Near the gym I saw a large iguana that was walking in the vegetation of the hotel, at night we saw crabs. We gave food to the fish at the Playa Siren ranch, which has a small pier. We were also on Iguana Island and Starfish Beach.

In the town we were at the turtle hatchery, and we want to return during the season of releasing turtles into the sea, the work they do is very nice, saving the nests that are vulnerable and releasing the turtles into the sea; We were able to see albino turtles, which are unique in the world.

Sirena Beach is spectacular, it has super fine sand and is very well equipped to spend an excellent day, there is a ranchón where you can have lunch with live traditional music and food and drinks are included. You can get to this beach on a little train that has different schedules and is free or by taxis that are not expensive and take less time than the train. We had Berto's phone number, a man who drives one of those taxis, and we called him to take us or pick us up.

The hotel is very quiet, we saw many Canadians and older people, lunch is in a hut on the beach with a beautiful view, the pool is large and always clean, the rooms are comfortable, the mattresses are very comfortable, in general it met our expectations. expectations.

As for the food, we only felt that there was no ice cream on all the days we were there, we had been told that the ice cream is produced locally in the key and is of excellent quality. But despite that the food was good and varied at breakfast and dinner, not so much at lunch.

Overall, the Hotel Memories Cayo Largo del Sur is an excellent option for those looking for a relaxing, nature-filled vacation in Cuba. If you are looking for a place to disconnect and enjoy the sun, the beach, nature and good service, this hotel is an excellent option.

We are a family of 4 (2 teenagers), living in Italy, travelled extensively WW in last 15 years, stayed 2 weeks over Xmas and NY.
The hotel has huge potential and was obviously amazing years ago, now is very much run down and rooms needs maintenance ASAP… they’re very basic, leaks from above apartment to our bathroom, patio door could be barely opened, not locked and you could get into any room thru their patio… some guests complained they didn’t have hot water or no water at all…
The food offer in general is very low quality (for Italian standards), we ended up eating toasts at the pool bar all the time… most guests had stomach cramps or diarrea too so something is off, maybe water/ice although we tried to stick to bottled one.
The lobster dinners ARE available but ‘under the table’; ie. you can ask waiters in certain restaurant and if available on a day they provide it to you for $20/pp, cash only (it was amazing!).
Xmas dinner didn’t happen (just few more decorations) and they told is was organized on 24th (that you wonder why since there was a guest change on that day so it wouldn’t have worked for anybody); anyhow we arrived on 24th eve and there was nothing extra there…
For NY Eve, slightly more offer but scarse organization, we waited for table for too long…
The pool area and tennis court is very worn down, needs refurbishment. Hotel beach is nice although there is by far not enough umbrellas and too many nudists too close to the hotel beach…

On the positive side - Playa Sirena and Playa Paraiso are amazing, typical Caribbean beaches that are about 1/2 hr away if you take hotel ‘train’ (hotel should look into minibus alternatives…) or taxi 10mn (that you have to pay). We spent most of our time there with amazing Bravo animation.
Staff at the hotel is really nice and smiley but needs extensive training… Customer service almost non existent and even if we asked something, point out that rooms were not done by 8pm sometimes, toilet paper or towels missing, couldn’t get beach towel if you didn’t have one to exchange, still nothing would happen… Animators are great, evening shows amazing and dancers are truly spectacular (just warn the dancers against chatting up teen girls).

Bravo animation team is just truly amazing, they put their hearts and souls into their job and were always available to lift the spirits and have everybody have fun!!

Overall a nice relaxing vacation, don’t expect loads from food or rooms and enjoy the beach!

I stayed at the Starfish when it was the Pelicano. I prefer Memories. It seems a little bit higher quality.

No drinks are not included at Serenis Beach.. its a public beach..bring your own or you can buy drinks there and eat at the restaurant. There is a bar on the beach and beer is 2 or 3 bucks US..and you can go to the restaurant also.
