This was our third mother and daughter trip to Velassaru and once again the whole experience of our stay exceeded all our expectations. Velassaru is a stunning island, the entire Team lead by Brett, the hospitality, the food, the accommodation and comfort are all outstanding. I can only praise our entire experience lead by Brett, the General Manager who would stop to have a chat, say hello to acknowledge you and this example was followed through by his entire team. The food in all the restaurants is amazing from the variety at breakfast to the meals in the restaurants. Our special thanks to Chef Anu and Chef Chandu for all the outstanding dishes they make, mine definitely was the risotto and my daughters was the vegetarian burger. Every detail to attention is given to the food and presentation to make every meal delicious. The service whether it was breakfast, dinner or a drink and snacks at Fenn bar is fantastic. All the staff everywhere you were took special care to engage with you at all times. I would not like to leave anyone out but from the gentleman who looked after our room, the gardeners who maintain this stunning island we thank them all. In Turquoise thanks to Imran, Solamon, Rafaif, Zaheed. Thank you to Mr. Faisal, Marge and Joeo for an acknowledgement or chat when they saw us. Thanks to Chris on our sunset cruise for the delicious canapés and for making the sunset cruise a very memorable one. Velassaru Maldives is situated in the South Malé Atoll. A 25 minute speedboat ride from Male International Airport. Beautiful Island, Gorgeous Food and Drinks, Very friendly and dedicated staff! Great Island to have a Holiday for a Couple or with Family!

Rarely do resorts or locations match the expectations or hype. Velassaru was the exception that matched those expectations. The overwater villa was nice and comfortable. Staff were incredibly friendly and had obviously done their research on the guests. The restaurants were good albeit a bit expensive. The Breakfast buffet was the best I have ever seen. Definitely do the shark snorkeling if you have the chance. Incredible experience. We would definitely go back to the Maldives and if we do, we would stay here again. Versus other big name resorts I think Velassaru is well worth the cost. Not cheap (but nothing in the Maldives is) but definitely good value for what we paid. We took a boat over to one of the nearby bigger name resorts and after two hours had them come back and pick us up early to take us back.…

Great place to spend your vacation. Rooms a spacious and well appointed, especially loved the bathroom amenities....which one can buy from the shop, so we went wild... Great choice of restaurants, food was excellent and service lovely and friendly. Another plus is that it is close to Male, just a short boat ride and you are there. Overall we loved it...go for a beach villa with pool, it is wort spending a bit extra as one has much better privacy

I visited Velassaru at the end of April for the fourth time with my daughter, and to celebrate my big birthday my son and daughter-in law joined us. On arriving at Male airport we were once again warmly greeted by Hamny & the Velassaru speedboat was waiting to whisk us away for the 30 minute boat ride. From the moment you approach the island you know you are in paradise. We were all warmly greeted at the dock by Marge & Mr. Faisal. The island is impeccably maintained and you constantly see the ground staff working hard to keep the island looking immaculate. The food at Velassaru was also a highlight of our trip & many thanks to Chef Wasantu & Chef Chandu who did not disappoint us with their delicious creations. We wish to thank them for looking after us so well & for making each meal so memorable including the amazing breakfast buffet. Imran at Turquoise & Sand restaurants delighted us at every meal with his wonderful personality & manner. It didn’t matter if it was lunch or dinner he always ensured that every attention to detail was given. Before dinner we always had drinks & warm snacks at Fenn Bar & thank you to Raffia for always taking such good care of us. We stayed in the beach villas & they were always well maintained by Aseen & nothing at all was too much trouble for him from extra towels & water for the room. The location of the beach villas is stunning & you step out seeing the beautiful turquoise sea which is breathtaking. Thanks to the team at Glide where we were all able to enjoy jet skiing & kayaking around the island. We also took the morning & sunset cruise & were thrilled to see dolphins. The spa is well worth experiencing with its amazing treatments & pool. It is definitely worth booking into. I would honestly say to anyone who is spending time reading all the reviews for which island to choose for their Maldives stay ……. Choose Velassaru & you will not be disappointed. As a family we had the most wonderful stay & would like to thank Dennis, Marge, Mr Faisal & each & everyone of the Velassaru team for ensuring everything was to perfection. This is my second time at Velassaru and it won’t be my last. Everything was perfect from the staff to the food to the resort itself. All the staff was amazing and respectful since it was my second time the provided me with a bottle of wine, chocolates and some exotic fruit. During my birthday they gave me another bottle of wine. I can’t recommend Velassaru enough one of the best resorts I have ever stayed considering I travel a lot. Also I want to give a big shoutout to Ameen for being so awesome.

Amazing location and very very easy way to the airport. You don’t need to wait as the boat is there at the airport immediately after you flight and they bring you back 2 hours before your flight (not as the other resort with the seaplane). The staff is really kind, we got a lot of things free of charge and the upgrade. Rooms are really beautiful, modern and very clean. The common area are very clean too. Breakfast is AMAZING and you can find everything. The rest of the Food can be a bit better but I am Italian so I know I am picky. I really recommend this resort.

This is our third time in the Maldives and our first in Velassaru. What can we say except that we loved our stay in Velassaru. From the warm welcome, to taking care of our lost luggage in the airport to Riya and her colleagues’ (Shafan, Aslam and all) super welcome at Vela every breakfast and dinner! As we chose full board, Turquoise restaurant was our stop for lunch. Salam and his colleagues were very helpful and always smiling. In general, the food at both restaurants was tasty. We stayed in Beach Villa, Mr. Ameen, Assistant Manager Front Desk was so kind to guide us on upgrading our stay from Deluxe Villa to Beach Villa, which was a great choice. He was also very attentive to what we needed and this really made this a 5 star place for us, the friendliness of the staff. On that note, this was our anniversary, and staff at Vela treated us, the following night we also had a beautiful surprise waiting for us in the room. Super kind. We stayed in room 214, few steps from the beach, with beautiful sunset views. Also, very clean rooms, and no insects, not a single one in the room. I went prepared with repellents and all, but didn’t have to use any. Activities: We did 2 excursions, the Stingray City, highly recommended, beautiful snorkeling experience, many types of fish in addition to the stingrays, the snorkeling instructors were great, they technically pulled us with a tube so we felt safe enough to snorkel and not worry about current pulling us away. I can swim but not in open water. Thank you Federica for recommending this, i hope to come back for more adventures. We also did a Sunset Fishing experience. Which was also good, the staff were extremely caring to let my son pull some fish, he was over the moon. Our experience started before getting to the resort. Every doubt were answered quickly and that made us very calm. Once we got to the airport, the staff were waiting for us and gently head us to the speedboat carrying our luggage and explaining about the place, islands and culture. At the hotel we only had good experiences, nothing bad to say but exactly the opposite. Our bungalow with pool and sunset view was stunning. The resort infrastructure, it’s many restaurants, plenty dishes and option since breakfast till the dinner and shisha, everything were simply perfect. Later on we found that the responsible for such thing was the kind Wasatha, the chef. We had a pleasant conversation during a cocktail where we could know more about him and his passion for cooking. He prepared us a private dinner at the beach taking care of each detail, including my wife’s restriction with sea food. Another person was Zinthyia, who is countrywoman of the chef, they are from Sri Lanka. Zinthiya is the reservation manager and made an excelente job since the beginning helping us with our lots of doubts. We were never been there before so we were a little afraid and she was perfect with us. We just wanted to say thank you to all the Velassaru staff but specially for those two who increased our experience there! Hope to come back there with my kids some day. Thanks a lot!…
