Been coming to Samui & Chaweng for over twenty years and it’s still nice to be able to stay the old style cottages with veranda overlooking tropical gardens with birds, cats, mosquitoes and frogs in attendance. Montien House has been around forever and the cottages are showing their age with loud air conditioning and old style rooms. They have built a block of more modern rooms away from the garden and also villas with their own small pools so the choice is varied. Breakfast is standard and could be improved though the view overlooking Chaweng Beach is fantastic. Guests are mostly older Scandinavians and other westerners with a smattering of Thais from the mainland. Two minutes walk to the hustle and bustle of Chaweng nightlife or a minute walk to the beautiful beach. Bangkok Airways flight path is directly over the hotel both landing and taking over with first flight at 7am but doesn’t really affect your stay. We were there in low season so beach nightlife subdued but the music can get very loud sometimes. Overall a most enjoyable stay.

Good location, 5 minutes walk to 7/11, bars, shops, restaurants and the beach. I could not complain about the room due to the price was very cheap it’s only about 1,300 baht and you have your own private room and private bathroom. The restaurant on the beach is a bit pricey

Absolutely love the bungalows surrounded by trees and a beautiful garden, not like the concrete hotels with no shade and stuffy staff Montien is so clean and restaurant food is delicious.. I have been staying here for over 15 years and always go back. The staff are fantastic, so friendly and respectful and remember you from years ago. Massage ladies at front on the beach are so lovely. I’ve stayed at many properties on Samui and this is by far my favourite. Not 5 star but everything you Need for a relaxing, fun filled holiday. Families, couples and singles it’s the perfect place to stay.

I left two ripped $50 notes on table as u can't currency exchange in main table smack bang in the middle to test them. next day only one left. the manager is a flawed human. worst hotel stay I ever had by far. I told them I was. going to contact police and she said go. guessing they know they can get away with it.

Lovely stay with a very comfortable bed, clean room, helpful staff and good food at the restaurant. It's located in the heart of the action. Pretty grounds and great beachside views. It's in a great location however it can be noisy due to the nightlife - e.g. a cabaret bar across the street along with other bars, and occasional airplanes passing by (although this impacts all local hotels and the planes stop running at a certain time). It was still a great stay for a solo traveler, it felt safe and secure, but not most ideal if you would like some quiet at the of your day.

I love the Montien house. It has a charm. It’s a little dated, but has the most wonderful grounds, the staff are lonely (and its great to see so many back after covid) and firm comfy beds. I love the fact you can hear the birds calling etc when you are in bed too. It’s all very relaxing and honestly I’ve had the best sleep this week. I tried to stay for 11 more days but it’s full. So that also tells you something. Only negative as an older hotel is lack of accessible power sockets. But I worked out my charging routine and coffee making without too many issues. Hope to be back in March. 🤞

Room Tip: Parking is under the main building, limited spaces. Nothing to add just that juggling of power...

The most dirty & terrible hotel I’ve ever been. No elevator in the main building, had to carry heavy suitcases upstairs ourselves, very old furniture with uncomfortable mattress, so dirty and not maintained since hotel was build. Washroom is rusted & never been cleaned. Receptionist is rude and all other staff hardly understand and speak English.

Located right on the beach along one of the main streets on Koh Samui, this place is a great stay. Fantastic little bungalows with good amenities, a buffet breakfast with lots of fresh fruit, and a large pool right by the water front (including a cold shower and loungers by the pool). Close to shops, the Samui Centre, and with a 7-11 right across the road, its hard to go wrong here.

We stayed here during our stay in Koh Samui. It was well worth the price. Hotel is small and gives you privacy and calm you need. The rooms have everything you need. Food was really good and service was classy. The road leading to the hotel offers multiple food options and entertainment.

Very old and terribly maintained hotel. We just stayed overnight as we were in transit from another island to fly back to home. Worst choice as you can get better hotels in koh Samui with similar range price. Everything had stains. Walls are dirty. Our room didnt have smoke detector as you can see in the picture. Room smell old and mould. Hotel seems like a ghost building.
