The Island is beautiful with a rich history! We had the luxury of getting a personal tour from our Taxi driver and he was very knowledgeable of the island history. The majority of the employees at the resort were not very friendly at all. What's needed is a well taught class in customer service. They are lacking in that department. The workers I encountered never bothered to speak unless they are spoken to first, much like a robot. There's no interaction whatsoever! The food at the resort is extremely expensive! A burger and fries was $19.00!!! a large pizza was $28.00! Six wings and fries was $30!! The hotel itself is very dated! Cabanas near the pool rents for $30 but the cabanas on the beach are first come first serve. The fitness center was very nice even though 3 of the 4 treadmills were broken. There was plenty of ellipticals available and ample free weights. The a/c in the hotel room blows directly down on the bed so you're either freezing or burning up. The sofa sits too low and the tub is too high! I'm glad for the experience of seeing the island but my wife and I won't be returning to Saint Kitts ever again.

I think people who rate Marriott St Kitts 4/5 and 5/5 are probably staying at *a* hotel for the first time, or are used to inns or motels. I stayed at the Marriott St Kitts and would rate it a 2/5. DISAPPOINTED is an under-statement. ROOMS: dated and worn out. The room that I was initially assigned had a torn headboard, scratches on the centre table, scratches on both nightstands, chipping of the main mirror, dusty charging port on the nightstand, dusty fire alarm (I noticed that when I lay on the bed), dirt along the light switches, dried bird poop in the balcony (on the chairs, table and floor) etc. I was SO shocked.  I asked for another room and this one was better but there were still scratches on the furniture, chipped mirror, dusty charging port on the nightstand, dried bird poop in the balcony etc. I have VIDEO FOOTAGE of ALL of this in BOTH rooms. No desk and chair in my room; not sure if others have.  CLEANLINESS OF SURROUNDINGS/GROUNDS (not referring to my room or balcony): it's okay but the place is dated. WATER TEMPERATURE IN THE SHOWER: It was hot (not boiling hot how I like... but still good enough). I've stayed at hotels before where I found the water didn't even get WARM, far less hot! AIR CONDITIONING: The AC works FOOD AND DRINK:  *La Cucina Italian Restaurant was underwhelming. This was my first time having Italian food and I could not believe that this was what people rave about. I'm assuming that the people who highly rate La Cucina aren't Italian or haven't had authentic Italian food. *Pizza Shack: the St Kitts BBQ Jerk Chicken Pizza was DELICIOUS!  *Calypso Cafe: I had the salted caramel ice cream and enjoyed it. I didn't have any drinks while at the hotel, so I can't speak to that. NIGHTLY ENTERTAINMENT: there was a band performing a night. Good stuff! POOL: I didn't go to the main pool but I could see that it definitely gets busy. That's where the pool bar and most of the pool entertainment is. There is another pool which seems to not be as busy (there is entertainment, though) and this was the one I went to. It was ok. JACUZZI: I went to the jacuzzi in the south pool (i.e. NOT the main pool) and the water was NOT warm. Fix this.  CASINO: I played some slot machines. It was cool but I'm annoyed that I asked for $USD and the lady gave me an exact note. I then had to go back to her for smaller notes. I'm at the casino; why would you give me a full $20 or $50 note, when what I would need is $1, $5, etc. PROFESSIONALISM OF STAFF: can't complain really. But my only issue was when I went to the Pizza Shack, I greeted the ladies there (a younger lady--maybe mid to late 20s and an older lady--maybe mid to late 30s or early 40s) and they continued to talk for a bit before even acknowledging me. Eventually, the younger lady acknowledged me and took my order. PAYMENT: If you'll be using a debit card, make sure to bring it with you (as in, have it on you) as it's not kept on file (the way a credit card is kept on file, and you could just provide your room number). Otherwise, if you're paying in cash, you have to place your order at whatever establishment, go to reception and pay, and then come back with your receipt OR if you're doing fine/seated dining, then the waiter would go to reception to get it done). FINAL THOUGHTS:  For the price that I paid and given that this is the MARRIOTT brand, Marriott St Kitts is NOT worth it. Remember too that the "resort" is NOT all inclusive, so everything has to be paid for.  Would I ever take my own money and pay my way to this hotel again? No. But if someone else was doing it, sure. Strip the "Marriott" name away, and this resort is a large THREE star hotel. The main difference is that Marriott St Kitts is much larger in terms of the number of rooms and the grounds/property, and has a gym, tennis court, golf course and spa--the things which make it a "resort".

Beautiful resort and we had ZERO issues with seaweed on the beach. The staff at this hotel is the best we’ve ever seen! There are plenty of activities to keep busy - even Pickleball. Our room was very clean with all new appliances - beds were very comfortable.

We very much enjoyed the ambience and delicious food at the Marriot’s Caribbean Cafe. They have a special West Indian Buffet on Thursday through Sundays nights. Great value too. After dinner we strolled down to the Atlantic Beach to digest our excellent meal

We booked our trip in February 2023 to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We booked an Oceanview Room but didn't realize there is a difference between Oceanside and Oceanview. We have a view of a wall and and a storage shed. Additionally most of the onsite restaurants are closed and because of seaweed which we knew about we have to pay for beach chairs and umbrellas at off site beaches. Definitely not the usual Marriott experience. We are very disappointed and would not stay again. The people are lovely and have tried to be accommodating but Marriott let us down. Spent several hours on hold waiting to speak to a manager only to be told we needed to speak with onsite staff who are not enabled to help. Don't waste your time or money.

Stayed here for a week (July 2023) with my wife and 2 kids (ages 25 & 18). My room was very nice and totally up to the Marriott standards we have come to know. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Pools were great (3 big ones) and pool bar had a great vibe. Restaurants were also very good on the property as well. Highly recommend this resort and it exceeded our expectations greatly! I was a little nervous before the trip reading about the seaweed on the beach which basically rendered swimming in the ocean at the resort out of the question. We got along totally fine without it though. So the seaweed issue only impacts the Atlantic Ocean side of the island, not the Caribbean side. There are several beaches on the Caribbean side that are just a few minutes away with no seaweed and they are absolutely great! Cockleshell Beach was awesome with Reggae Beach Bar and Shipwreck Beach was also awesome with great snorkeling with just a pair of goggles! And we got to feed Monkeys at Shipwreck which was a first for me! And they also have a black sand beach as well! Both beaches are fantastic and both have beach bars serving frozen drinks! Broadly speaking, the vibe of the people really set St Kitts / Nevis apart. Very friendly people and relaxed setting. Would definitely come back here and you can't go wrong with the Marriott here!

We booked a 2 bedroom through Interval in the Marriot Vacation Club. They were correct when they said no check-in before 4 pm. We arrived at 1:30 pm and it wasn’t available. They let us in at 4 but the staff was still finishing it up when we arrived (we met some other guests and their room wasn’t ready until 6 pm). They did give us an extra hour at checkout (11 am instead of 10 am). Our unit was on the 3rd floor in building 8 (Jessup House) which had a decent view of the ocean and was located between the main pool and south pool. The 2 bedroom unit had a full kitchen with large fridge, oven/stove, microwave, coffee maker and dishwasher. The kitchen was pretty well stocked with everything you need to cook. The south pool has at least 4 gas grills for guest to use. The master bedroom had a comfortable king bed and had an attached bathroom which was a good size. The 2nd bedroom has 2 twins and their bathroom was much smaller and was detached in the hallway. We had a balcony that overlooked the ocean and shuffleboard court. The maid came twice during the week to clean and provide fresh towels. There is a grocery store a 2 minute walk away which we went to while waiting on the room to be ready. They actually let you take the shopping cart back to the hotel as long as you brought them back. They also charged duty free pricing on alcohol. We ate at Café Calypso for lunch when we arrived, and it was fine. We also ordered pizza at the Pizza Shack a couple of times and it was very good. I would suggest also eating at the Italian place, La Cucina as it was great and the portion sizes were huge. The hotel is a 5 min drive ($10 cab ride) or 15 minute walk to The Strip where there are several restaurants and bars open late which our two 18 year olds took full advantage of most nights. We hung out mostly at the main pool as they it had a swim up bar, music most afternoons and activities starting at 2 pm (bingo, pool volleyball, trivia). The south pool was mostly quiet although they did have a 4th of July party there and also provided free mimosas on Friday at 10 am. Happy Hour at the pool was from 4 pm to 5 pm but only included beer and rum punch. The hotel would greatly be upgraded if they got better pool loungers. The ones they have seem dated and not overly comfortable. The main pool had no umbrellas (the south pool had umbrellas) and maybe 1 out 5 of chairs had a shade attachment. The loungers at the beach were much better and they had umbrellas if you wanted shade. There is a ton of sargassum on the beach although they do their best to clean it up. With that said there is a smell associated with it. Not the hotels fault and there are beaches on the other side of the island with beach bars you can go to if you want to swim in the water (Reggae Beach Bar or Shipwrecks are good places). On Friday the hotel had approximately 25 kids elementary age show up from a local day-care or camp and let them use the pool. It would have been fine if someone was watching them, but as soon as they got in they were screaming, hitting one another with pool noodles, and several younger guests almost got trampled by all of them. I am not sure if this is a weekly thing and can appreciate the hotel letting them use the pool, but someone needed to manage their behavior as a number of guests left and went to the south pool. Other notes: - The best happy hour on property can be found at the casino from 6-8 pm. It is 2 for 1. - The casino has all the games you want and a sports book. It is only open at night. Mostly spent time at the $10 blackjack table. If playing they will provide you free drinks. - The hotel has tennis courts (with pickleball lines on them as well) and a basketball court. - Karaoke in on Thursday nights in the lobby bar. - The two 18 years olds met plenty of people their age and had a great time hanging out with all of them during the week. Overall, we had a good time. With the Marriott Vacation Club, this was a family hotel. There were several large groups with multigenerations traveling with one another. We found most of the employees engaging and nice. The hotel is a little dated as it is an older property, but they keep it clean. I would not hesitate to come back.

The resort is not well kept up. What is going on? The pool chairs are falling apart. There are few umbrellas or shade available for guests at the the pools. Even the volleyball net in the pool is falling apart. The public areas are run down. It's true that the resort is freshly repainted but Marriott is advertising for the 20th anniversary of the resort and what they're describing is not the look and feel of the resort. There are restaurants that are not open and in disrepair. The resort is not cleaning up the seaweed daily. I measured almost 18 inches deep of seaweed at the beach in front of the resort. They have claimed to take care of it daily but that's clearly just not true at all. On our sixth day at the resort a dump truck and back hoe showed up to start a two full day cleaning effort of the seaweed. The whole resort even inside the lobby smelled of rotting seaweed. I get that it's that time of year and that it's clearly not their fault. Having said that, they should have had a workable plan in place to deal with the problem. It's also clear the resort is understaffed. They don't even have daily shuttle service to Caribbean side beaches on the weekends. Why is that? I'm very worried about how sustainable this resort is financially given the condition it's in. I know this is an integrated resort with a full service Marriott hotel. How does this even qualify as a premium location for Marriott given the condition it's in? It's really unbelievable to be honest. The prices of the food and drinks are not commiserate to the condition of the resort. This is a resort in distress and new management needs to be hired. The staff is not the problem. Or perhaps the resort needs to be sold to new owners that have the capital to invest the millions of USD that it would take to get this resort up to Marriott brand standards.

The hotel was average. The accommodations were not luxurious as I prefer. The pool is old but nice. The hotel is pretty rundown and could use a lot of upgrades. The food was mediocre but the sushi bar that is located in the main lobby was really nice and the staff there is TOP NOTCH. Loved the food at the Italian restaurant located downstairs in the main hotel building. There is a little Pizza shop close to the pool that is open for most lunch and dinner and the food was good. Also really loved the restaurant by the pool where you can grab lunch. It had great chicken Caesar salads. And the bartenders there were all very good. Interestingly, I’m writing about the staff, most of whom were really great. But beware of Carldan on the entertainment team at the pool and towel hut. He flirted from the time I was there and asked for my WhatsApp. We left the property and went on several dates, although he has to be very secretive because of the rules regarding interaction with guests.. We talked for many months after I left. However, I received a call from his girlfriend of six years and mother of his two children recently. Turns out he was with someone the entire time. Don’t let this guy fool you. He’s a player!! Beware if you are a single American traveling alone because this guy is preying on people.
