This year I visited Son Julia for the fourth time. If it had been my first visit, I probably wouldn't have chosen this beautiful hotel again. Unfortunately, the room, this time room 205, was a disappointment. At first it seemed like the other rooms I have stayed in over the past few years: tastefully decorated and spacious.
The problem with room 205, however, is that it is extremely noisy, as it borders on the sanitary facilities of room 206. The bed feels like it is right next to the toilet in the neighboring room, which means that you can clearly hear every word and all other sources of noise.
Another drawback is the creaking of the wooden cabinets, both during the day and at night, which significantly disturbs sleep. Unfortunately, I could not determine the cause of these noises, but they definitely affect the comfort of sleeping when you are woken up by them several times a night.
In addition to the noise, there are suggestions for improvement regarding the cleanliness of the bathroom. The fittings show limescale deposits and should be better maintained. The cleaning staff could be more attentive, for example when emptying the trash can in the bathroom, which had not been emptied for two days. The sockets on the sinks urgently need to be repaired, as they come loose from the wall when the plug is pulled out.
The mattress should also be replaced, as when one person moves, it causes the entire mattress to vibrate and can disturb the second person's sleep. This could be due to the springs.
Despite these shortcomings, the Son Julia remains one of my favorite hotels in Mallorca. The service when checking in is excellent, the staff at breakfast are very friendly and the outdoor area is well maintained, which creates a pleasant and calm atmosphere. When I arrived, a young lady gave me a rough tour of the hotel, who showed me all the important parts of the country house. Unfortunately, the room was not ready for arrival. It was available from 3 p.m. After moving into the room, a good bottle of red wine was brought to the room by the hotel shortly after moving into room 205. The two pools are also equipped with very comfortable loungers. The breakfast at Son Julia is very extensive with a large selection of fresh egg dishes and a very extensive buffet of cheese and cold cuts. The spacious parking lot could do with a trash can.

We stayed four days in this beautiful complex and enjoyed the time very much. The old mansion can be reached from Palma via the motorway in a few minutes. We received a friendly welcome and throughout the stay the staff was extremely accommodating. Our large room on the second floor was modernly furnished, had a huge shower and wardrobes that provided storage space even for a stay of several months. The hotel has two outdoor pools, an indoor pool and an old, very stylishly designed garden. The overnight stay is not exactly cheap, but the guest also gets something very special!

We happened upon the Son Julia just by luck & so glad we did! We were 2 couples & I would say the hotel really made our stay in Majorca! It’s a total haven of peace with the nicest staff we have encountered in a hotel! Food was really good-we ate dinner at the restaurant a few nights & it didn’t disappoint! One of us used the spa pool every morning for 45 mins & found it clean quiet & a pleasure. If anything was found to be wrong it was fixed by the next visit. Lovely treatments in the spa. This is a fabulous hotel & well worth its 5* status. Thanks for a memorable week!

This was our second visit to this hotel and we know why. It is delightful, totally relaxing, plenty of room, lots of different spaces to sit and pools to lie around. The food is excellent - we ate in the hotel every night which is unusual for us - but we missed being able to have lunch at the pool. The pool bar serves only drinks. The staff are universally, friendly and helpful, they made our stay fun. The location is good, twenty minutes or so south of Palma and about a mile from Llucmajor, it is easy to get about the island. We rented a car but if you are only staying a few days and want to relax around the pool, a taxi from the airport is cheaper and probably just as useful. We had a room with a terrace which was well worth it, giving us a pretty private space to sit out in. Not much to criticise... ideally build a small cooking area near the pool for simple lunches perhaps?

Dear Guests, Thank you so much for returning to Son Julia again this year! We were all very happy to see you again. Thank you for your nice comments on the restaurant, food and staff - everyone is delighted that you enjoyed your stay. We would love to build a cooking area near the pool but we are not allowed to increase any part of the hotel because of building restictions unfortunately. We hope to see you again soon, Your Son Julia Team

It is a super hotel where you feel very one and relax. Not bothered by mass tourism. However, it is not completely child friendly. You cannot order snacks or lunch that are affordable. Not even between 6.30pm and 7.30pm, just when children are eating. The restaurant itself is very expensive, not to eat a quick bite every night. In general the staff are very friendly but I would still suggest a reorganization of the way they work now with minimum occupation to more service. For now, we won't be back because the cost of the food was way too expensive. And for the price of the rooms you also expect Full service 100%

Superb hotel and very helpful friendly staff. The main hotel building has a natural style with large, cool communal areas. Our bedrooms this time had a modern style compared to the traditional style of the rooms on our previous stay.
The terrace where breakfast and dinner is served is simple but effective with shade from the sun an a view to the garden and countryside beyond. The food and service was excellent.
One of the hotel's best features are the two swimming pools. The smaller 1st floor pool has lovely views over the terraces below and countryside beyond. Children are not permitted to use this pool. The second pool is huge, well maintained, with plenty of sunbeds and cabanas. There is a bar, showers and toilets.
The hotel has great road access to the airport and Palma. The nearby town of Llucmajor is quiet but has lots of good local restaurants, shops, banks, chemists and parking was easy.
A little further away is a bigger town, Campos which has an excellent bike shop S'Escapada, which hires an excellent range of bikes for enthusiasts or leisure cyclists.

What a disappointment. This place is definitely not worth 5*. Yes the garden is stunning and the building itself really nice. But it is not maintained at all and the decoration is really random and lacks of charm. When arriving by car, you are welcomed by an old tennis court and a very long wall full of mold. Talking about the service… The restaurant opening hours make absolutely no sense. Opening breakfast at 8.00am, lunch 1.00pm and dinner at 19.30 is just impossible to deal with for families with small children. When we tried to call the reception to get some sort of breakfast or anything to eat for our 18 month old at 7.00am (he had been awake for 2 hours already) nobody picked up the phone (while there is supposed to be someone picking up the phone 24/7 in a 5* hotel - and the receptionist even told us so when checking it). We had to go to the reception ourselves, to a lady who clearly was pissed at our request. Given this, you would expect coffee available in the bedroom for when you wake up before 8.00 and have to wait for breakfast (you get this offered even in 3* hotels), but you don’t even get Nespresso bags. I understand the hotel is in Spain and people eat later there, but given you are a hotel and mostly welcome foreigners, it would be considerate for your guests to adapt your opening hours. Most of the time, we felt like we were bothering the staff and asking for things or service (still 30% of the staff was nice and professional, but it should be 100% when you are a 5* charging such high price). In terms of amenities, the bathroom just smelled like sewage and the « heated » indoor pool was ice cold… Lastly, the food at the restaurant is completely overpriced for what it is. Full disappointment, would not recommend anyone to stay there.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your nice feedback. We would like to inform you that our tennis court has been newly refurbished 1 month ago, with a new artificial grass lawn and newly painted fences, it is by no means "old". The estate is over 300 years old, and the walls are dry stone walls which are not full of mould, any discoloration you may have seen is due to this fact. Our restaurant times are no different to any other hotel on this island, or indeed in Spain. Breakfast from 8-11, lunch from 13-17:00 and dinner from 19:30-22:00 are perfectly reasonable in Spain and we have never received any complaints due to this. We do apologise if our receptionist did not answer your call. We have addressed this matter and made sure it will not reoccur. We are not able to have nespresso machines in the rooms due to the Balearic Government banning all disposable plastic items in order to have more ecologically viable tourism this season. We would happily have brought you a coffee as room service. Our staff pride themselves on impeccable service and we are sorry that you did not find this the case. The bathrooms do not smell of sewage, our cleaning is up to a very high standard. The indoor pool is heated to 29Âş and the Jacuzzi at 35Âş, neither can be considered ice cold. The restaurant prices are what you expect to pay in any good restaurant on the island or Europe and considering you left a generous tip, we are to conclude that you enjoyed the food. With kind regards, The Son Julia Team

A beautiful little hotel with a few rooms and top service! There's really nothing to complain about. The breakfast is super delicious and there's something for everyone! Since I can't eat gluten, the hotel always prepared gluten-free things/rolls for me! Lunch and dinner in the hotel are also highly recommended! The grounds and rooms are very well maintained and invite you to relax! The hotel is in a great location and you can quickly get to the beach or Palma by car! We would come back anytime!

Great hotel, Couldn’t fault it in any way. Beautifully restored estate that makes you really feel like you’re in Mallorca, not in hotel abroad with lots of other tourists.
The staff are fabulous, extremely helpful whenever you need anything but otherwise you wouldn’t realise they were there, in fact the hotel has this feel like it’s you’re own villa, you rarely see many other people except at breakfast and it’s just very very chilled and relaxing. Breakfast was excellent with a very relaxed atmosphere, table service for hot food which is nice and self serve for non cooked. Restaurant is also very good.
I also loved the location, 15 mins drive from airport so you feel like you’re there as soon as your plane lands. Being near palma you realise that you’re very close to all the islands main roads and you can get to most places on the island very quickly, the location is not touristy at all, the town of llucmajor is 1 km away and has lots of great little traditional restaurants that are full of locals. Playa Cala pi if you want the beach is very close and well worth a visit.
Excellent hotel and will definitely be back!!
Oh fabulous golf courses within 15 mins drive.
