My wife and I have traveled to several Secrets resorts in the past so that is our main comparison. Upon arrival they were very friendly, but it was clunky. We kept getting past to the next person. We arrived around 3:30 and got into our room finally around 5:30. They did bring us to lunch so that we could eat something. The room was nice. We just had a basic room. Everything worked well and was in good shape. The WiFi in our room didn't work at all, but after talking to Kevin at the front desk it was fixed for the rest of the week. Kevin was great with this and any thing else we needed. The pool was nice and seemed like not enough seats but it was never full. The loungers were nice. If you want a covered one you better be there before 8:00 AM. The food was all really good with the exception of lack of variety. We didn't mind this but essentially there's 1 breakfast menu in the whole resort served at two restaurants every day. There are 3 different lunch spots with all different menus that were good. There were 2/3 different dinner spots. 1 was a very small menu. 1 was a good menu but didn't rotate. 1 was the same menu as they served for lunch. All very good though. A lot of people complain about service, but I don't think it was much slower than most other places. We had a couple meals over a 6 day period that took longer than they should, but most were less than an hour from sitting down and being done eating. Drinks were all good and pretty strong. They were out of certain liquors frequently but then the next day would have it again. The marina is beautifful with amazing yachts going in and out every day. The beach across the bay was ok. Small and had people trying to sell you things. Kayaks are free to use which was nice. We did the Ridge Hike with Jay which was great. We did a couples massage at the spa which was great, but a little on the expensive side. Over $400 for a 50 minute massage. The gym was fine for the week. Overall it was very good. I wouldn't recommend if you need constant activity or entertainment. I wouldn't recommend for bringing younger kids. Perfect for a scenic relaxing vacation. …
We wanted to book a long, proper holiday and saw there were mixed reviews for this resort so it was a bit of a risk for 11 days. I definitely did not want a Condo feel, however the building here are made of dark wood, shingle wooden roof tiles and when you look back at it from the other side of the bay it is an attractive addition to the bay. We liked the smaller, quieter pool and the perfectly kept gardens. Wandering down to the marina and staring at the coming and going of the boats, big and tiny was wonderful. We truly did relax and the all inclusive option was a massive reason why. The food, no buffets except one night to showcase local food, was fantastic. Some of the steak meals were dreamy, the coconut prawns and the cafe for excellent pastries and cakes, coffees. I can’t praise the food enough and you could tell instantly that there is a strong culture of hygiene so no upset tummies going to happen here. Even hair nets are used. Being in such a setting, being asked if you want or need everything and being on such a beautiful Island is a blessing and one I feel so lucky to have been able to experience. The staff who quietly operate around the resort, cleaners, gardeners, security (only needed to stop people wandering in) pool staff and general maintenance guys are the backbone of this resort. They are so kind, gentle and caring by nature and I hope the new Hyatt group look after these staff members because it was having a chat to them for a few minutes that made this trip extra special. They have a genuine gratitude for life that the rest of us could learn a lot from. Then there is Jay, the activity guy. It is easy to stay in bed and not join him for Yoga or the hike but that is a mistake. These activities are included and I would pay to go back there just for his yoga class. He is, again, a very special person but also gifted with wellness and movement work. Young, old, stiff or experienced…get out of bed because your mind and body will thank you and he is a massive asset to the resort. So overall it definitely was a proper holiday and we have come back happy and unfortunately a bit fatter. We would have no hesitation in recommending this resort. Below however are some aspects The Hyatt need to get right because the dreamy people of St Lucia can’t keep everyone as happy as us and there are details that need sorting for a five star resort to be represented in a more positive light. When you book a suite it is a King Room only. Better to give accurate descriptions so it is not a disappointment on arrival. Large balcony but small chairs and tiny table (pity as plenty of room for decent balcony eating) make room service a bit pointless as eating on your knees. No soft chair to sit on in the room just one desk chair so if having to work it’s from the bed. Fine if you know this but when I asked I was told a suite is the correct word if you have a balcony and the addition of a bathroom…uuuum. We did then have no water in part of the resort (they told us it was the whole resort but for most of the 20hrs it was only part of the resort) and concierge never contacted us. Our toilet was obviously not working and the taps were dry. Things like this can happen and are unfortunate but actually not an issue for us, in the sense that nothing is perfect in life all the time BUT concierge needed to keep us informed. Bring a bucket of water from the other side of the resort to flush through our toilet. Bring additional water so we could wash our hands, without being asked…frankly do something other than remain in the air con saying it’s an external issue and offer not even an apology. Nice as the guys are in concierge, this is the area of the hotel that needs immediate retraining. We did arrive in the evening but we were then abandoned. There needs to be a check list that guests have been shown or informed of things on arrival or the following day. We were on constant catch up. We saw the cafe days after arrival (no signage) we missed a hike and yoga, nothing on the iPads and not told about the email of activities until I went to the library for the third time and told THEM that the iPads don’t give details. The iPads say room service is not included, it is. Local buffet I learnt about overhearing the chef telling someone else. The concierge NEED to leave their office and reach out with information and they need training because the gardeners and people who have worked quietly for years there, are better with guests. We were upgraded due to an invoice issue but only by going to the head of reservation at Hyatt. Our late check out was given, then retracted. So unfortunately we were not only not helped by concierge, we were let down by them. When I told them they always say they are aware and maybe going to get a TV sorted in reception showing what’s happening. Again not good enough. Going to does not help me now. The beach needs a hotel rep on it as there are sweet guys on the beach pushing drugs, not ideal though it feels very safe just a bit nuts in a good way. Given the beach is small it needs to have the rubbish cleared off it because it’s a gem but you lose the hotel feel when you are on it and that should be corrected. A hotel representative with free water would solve this. This resort is wonderful and in transition as Hyatt have taken it on. The staff seem delighted Hyatt are the owners and I hope this continues because happy staff affects everyone and it was so nice to hear. I wonder if the smell at the Hurricane resort could be improved and with no shops anywhere it needs some basic supplies back up and running in Marina village urgently. Please make the concierge guys become more relaxed and be seen in the body of the hotel not in their office with an St Lucia charm but effectual as at the moment they exude professionalism but are not. Sort the beach. These are easy fixes and the future should be perfect on this gorgeous island with incredible people. …
This resort needs some major repairs the the buildings and the grounds. The wood railings were falling off and were splintered. The wood decking had many rotten collapsing boards with screws and nails sticking out where you sit for dinner. The one restaurant smelled like an outhouse that needs cleaning. The food tasted good but the same limited food offerings every day. The portions of food were so small a young child would have been hungry after eating. There were water pipes bursting in buildings and the water from the shower and swimming pool ruined my new Chaco sandals. It turned them orange and smell awful even after multiple cleanings. They will need to be thrown out and replaced. The bricks on the walkways are uneven and loose. The employees were friendly and helpful but this was bar far one of the worst resorts we have ever stayed in. The beach was basically was an afterthought and not worth going to. expect it to take hours for each meal with the same boring food.…
The staff here was excellent and very friendly. One of the bartenders, Andre, was especially great. The food quality exceeded expectations. It was nice that we could use the kayaks across the bay, free of charge. With that said, this is squarely not a 5-star resort, much closer to 4-star. A few of our reasons why: Upon arrival, and after a LONG travel day, we got a Hyatt resorts sales pitch. I was clear that this is our vacation and we are not to be sold anything at all. They left us alone after that, but that right there told me it wasn’t a 5-star resort and just set the wrong tone. The pool area is nice but the resort gives cruise ship vibes with everyone left to play the chair game—wake up before 7am if you want a good spot. At check-in we were told people can’t reserve but when we asked about it the next day the staff just shrugged it off. Later on in the week we even saw some staff reserving cabanas for people. People were also using their own Bluetooth speakers around the pool which was really disruptive. The resort didn’t have any sunscreen, to our surprise, so our concierge brought some in for us. We paid her and it wasn’t until later that I noticed the price on the bottom of the bottle was much less than what she told me. I even tipped her for getting it for us. It just felt shady and, again, not 5-star. The location is nice but the beach is janky, and we didn’t even bother spending time there after one look. Their transportation and excursions are seriously marked up. We booked our own transportation at half the resort’s quoted price. The spa prices are seriously jacked up too. I’m not surprised the prices aren’t listed on the website like most resorts. We were looking forward to massages but quickly decided our money was better spent elsewhere on the island. We had a relaxing stay but all our trip highlights happened off the resort, including a beach day at Sugar Beach—now THAT is 5 stars (and their activities and spa treatments are more reasonably priced!). We are SO GLAD we rented a car so we weren’t captive to the resort all week. At Zoetry Marigot Bay, you do get what you pay for so overall we were satisfied with our stay. Just know you’re getting 4 stars at best.…
Excellent stay - our room was upgraded on arrival and from that moment on Staff could not have done more to make our stay pleasant and easy. Special thanks to Arleen and Stephanie but everyone went out of their way to help. Beautiful surroundings, excellent food and service in the four restaurants, all offering different choices. The beach is small and accessible by a fun boat, would certainly recommend a stay.
I don't often write reviews, but...we love St. Lucia! What my wife and I were looking for in our honeymoon in paradise was a split between relaxation and adventure activities. Jay and Darcela at Zoetry Marigot Bay do a great job keeping everyone engaged and having fun at the resort (we particularly enjoyed kayaking in the bay, Jay’s ridge hikes, and morning yoga)! Neily and Arlene were ready at a moments notice to coordinate activities outside the resort. Marigot Bay is perfectly situated on the island to easily access the markets and city of Castries in the north and the fishing villages and piton hikes in the south. Hyatt and the amazing people working there are doing a great job turning this beautiful resort with lots of character into a true 5-star experience.
Beautiful setting stunning views of the bay and marina . Accommodation is set in the hill side so lots of steps and steep slopes rooms are spacious most have own kitchen-dining area and lounge bedrooms are spacious with good wardrobe space . Bathroom has twin basins and shower over bath. On the the terrace their is a plunge pool jacuzzi and Sun beds . Hotel also has a spa and gym and yoga area. They have two pool areas one is adult only but not enough sunbeds. It also has a small beach area which is reached by boat. Food is excellent in resort from the pool bar to the restaurants the coffee shop is great and you must try the rum cave and pizza the only thing is service in restaurants which is being improved. Would love to return to this beautiful resort in stunning setting .
-staff are amazing Jay (activity), Leez (restaurant), and Corenzo(concierge). I didn't get the other staff names ... sorry, but overall they were wonderful and kind -food and drinks were amazing. -spa was nice -air conditioner in room broke and soaked clothing...staff attended to it immediately though !! -hottub outside the room was either boiling hot or cold ...unusable. -cost to use kayaks is very prohibitive -very small beach across marina is the only accessible one ...have to rent umbrellas there -snorkeling was not very good due to the constant boat activity stirring up the waters. -other beach that we drove 2 hours to get to was dirty and sketchy. -very little to do here and nothing for children if you were to bring any. -septic smell under the hurricane hole restaurant -this is essentially a marina and not really a beach resort…
We travelled Early Feb 2023 - this resort is set in the most beautiful spot. We booked a suite with separate bedroom and a plunge pool. Our room was in a great location - room #1401 - steps from the main pool. A bit of a trade off with no view but we didn't have to deal with steps either. (I feel like anyone who stays in the higher rooms might grow tried of the stairs and it could turn them off the resort). Also, there is no shortage of views throughout the resort. The rooms are sort of tired (if you really want to get picky - and I am) but I didn't mind and I like the island feel. Keeping things pristine in that environment is difficult. The air conditioning was like a meat locker in the main room so we had to close the bedroom door and turn off the air when we slept. We were supposed to get a butler and after drawing their attention to this, we did. I barely used them since I find it kind of odd. One night he saw us and ordered for me without asking. I didn't like that. Also, we didn't get robes in our room. We messaged him and they said they'd call housekeeping - um - I could have done that! I expected him to get them and deliver them to our room. We waited until turndown service brought them 6 hours later. Also I requested a plug so I could use my curling iron. Never got it. Finally our plunge pool shutoff and we never got it running again. After that I was like forget it - this is a joke. I knew I never really needed them but since we paid for it...If you are wondering if you should upgrade, I think we would have been totally happy with just a room. They are spacious enough and the TV is there so... The food is very, very good. All restaurants are al a carte and the chef has his eye on everything! He is truly hands on and walks the property all day to ensure everyone is happy. We had an incident at the Hurricane Hole - he noticed and took care of it. Service is slow but worth it. The poolside sushi is the best sushi I've ever had. The coconut shrimp is amazing. I could go on. I never had a bad meal. They ran out of a few items but no shortage of other things to eat. Drinks are very good. They have pool service and the employees are so nice. We didn't encounter one employee that did not serve you with a smile (whether or not you tip them either - lots of people did not). Seeing the yachts pull in and out was different and kind of exciting. The beach is not good. We went once and that was enough but we knew this was not a beach vacation. There are 2 pools and both have cabana style loungers you can have for free. A lot of resorts are now charging for them. They also have daybeds without shade. They could use more loungers. There were the infamous early morning lounge savers which by the end of our vacation management sent a message, via the room tablet, to say if you leave you spot for more than 30 minutes it's fair game. This resort is not very kid friendly so if you are wondering, choose elsewhere. It should just change to an adults only in my opinion. It is super chill and relaxing with pretty much no entertainment except for the dinner hour at 1461. If I had one downside I didn't think they had enough activities and when they did you only knew about them as they were starting. I could have checked the tablet but I totally forgot that is the main source of communication. Oh, and the timeshare team. They give you a soft sell on check in but I told them they are wasting their time - I will never be interested. After that they left us alone. One other thing, the ride to the resort is kind of long and very hilly. My husband and another person felt car sick.…
We stayed at Zoetry Marigot Bay in early February 2023. We are UVC members and have stayed at approximately 6 other Secrets properties, 1 Dreams, and 1 other Zoetry. This review is merely a review as compared to previous experiences. If you’re looking for a vacation where you don’t do much, just relax and remain idle, then Zoetry Marigot Bay may be a good spot for you. There are very few restaurants and not a ton of places to “go and see” on island. The beach and beach-activities are great but they are off resort and public so be prepared to be solicited. Nightime entertainment is limited and ends early also. However, for many vacation-goers, this is 100% normal. For us, it was a little bit too slow. Some of the things that I enjoy were lacking at this particular resort. For example, walking up/down a beach, easy room service, breakfast buffet, multiple options for dining, poolside music, etc. This is no-fault of the resort, and I knew many of these things prior to traveling. However by Day 2, I realized that we were going to have seen everything 2 or 3 times by the end of our stay. A 5 night stay was definitely enough for us. We had some hiccups on transportation from the airport to the resort, but it was fixed quickly. Transportation back to the airport was very simple. (if you get car-sick, consider sitting up front or taking another method of transportation). We were provided a room with an upgraded view beginning on Night 2. I highly recommend aiming for a room with a view. It made a big difference in our stay, considering it was a slow-pace resort. We spent more time on our balcony then we have on previous vacations. We stayed in building 10 (top floor) and the buildings around us all appears to have good views. We also visited the spa which was a very good service. It’s expensive, but again, we were looking for things to do. The spa facilities aren’t much to brag about though. I had intentions of spending some time in the various baths/pools/showers. But after seeing the options, I decided to go drink rum instead. Our favorite part of the trip was the Activities/Entertainment Staff. We woke up multiple mornings to do Yoga (which isn’t a normal activity of mine) but I enjoyed it. Jay is the Yoga instructor (That’s Jay, Right before “K”, haha). He is just awesome! He made Yoga enjoyable but also was a lot of fun around the resort. Jay also leads the Hike which I’m disappointed that we didn’t do (we went to the spa instead that day). I saw pictures from another guest and wished that we went. We also really enjoyed Darcel! We did a bunch of activities with her, including bodyscrub making class, rum tasting class, karaoke, Learn to Cook class, and also spent time with her during the Super Bowl. She was a blast to hang out with and has a terrific sense of humor. Through Darcel, we also met Chef Michael. He taught our Learn-to-cook class and he was a blast too. He made a point of saying hi to me everytime I walked past his kitchen for the remainder of my stay. He’s a real class-act! Overall, I’m glad we went to St. Lucia. I feel like I’ve checked it off the list and can explore other islands in future vacations. …
