The hotel located in the most amazing location, in front of the lake TOYA. Breath taking view from the lobby glass. Hotel staff are well trained and helpful. We stayed in a Japanese style lake view suite, its the end room of the hallway with the amazing lake view. However, the bathroom is way too small, dark and outdated, it's beyond horrify! Shocking feeling. Hotel has a public bath with the lake view, also a private bath can be book at the check in, cost $35 AUD for 50mins, its worth it, will recommended. However the spa treatments are very average, its very difficult to communicate with the staff due to language barrier, not recommend. Hotel breakfast and dinner are incredible. Many options, tasty and fresh ingredients. However, there are not enough of staff for cooking, often found empty plate with no food, and not enough staff to run the floor, to clean the dirty dishes and supply the fresh one out. Honesty, the hotel has so much potential, but definitely needs an urgent renewal. Until then, this resort would not be my first choice to go back.

We stayed at the resort for 3 days & 2 nights from 8th to 10th April. Overall stay was great. Below points that we’d appreciate: *Great onsen, its very clean. One of the best we had. *Breakfast had enough varieties for us especially a family with children. *Room was clean especially as we expected. *Staffs were friendly and very accommodating. *Dinner was fine. Thank you for a special sashimi plate on the eve before we left. *Omotenashi was done nicely and appreciate for the kind attention when My son fell down into fountain pont and he got his shoes and clothes wet. Your team had these items dried when we arrived in our room. Some points we’d like the management to improve: *A signage/blocking line to be in placed in front of the pont if the fountain is off to avoid any accident. *Kids yukata were only provided on the following day. It should be there upon arrival *Dinner menu should be different everyday. *Hand sanitizer should be placed near massage chair. Thank you for great service and for sure we will come back again.

We literally splurged for a night stay in this resort. Cost us quite a bomb in our opinion. There was nice view, fireworks view from the comfort of our bed was awesome. Ample space in the room as well. However dinner was soso, we were abit disappointed with the selection, didn’t taste as good as we had expected. Wifi was also weak in the room One thing to rave was definitely the rooftop open air hot spring bath. The view was breathtaking. Was regretting why we didn’t explore the rooftop spring bath first. Once in a life time experience!

I live in Hokkaido and wanted a staycation by the lake for my wife's birthday. We travel international regularly with 2 kids and are pretty easygoing. Our experience at Lake View was massively disappointing and some of the worst service I've experienced in Japan during my 7 years of living here. - Firstly there is no exterior signage in English whatsoever, only calligraphy style kanji so locating the right hotel was difficult from the main street - Check-in man spoke to me in Japanese for 10 minutes, and after I struggled using google translate and aksing my wife for help, he decided to to break into perfect American English. Why didn't he speak English from the beginning it is baffling to me as a Westerner and I was visibly struggling to fill out forms in Japanese - I messaged hotel earlier in the week to arrange a birthday cake or dessert for my wife but this was never recorded. I asked staff if they could just ask the kitchen nicely if they can do anything happy to pay a premium and he flat out refused to even call the kitchen to see if it was possible - he kept repeating they need 3 days notice and would not even put in a request even after I showed him my sent emails with the request from the week before. I have honestly NEVER had such disgraceful service like this anywhere in the world. - Hotel charged me for 4 adults when we had adults and 2 kids, the staff at check-in said they would refund the difference at check-out. Upon check-out a different staff member said rudely their policy is no refunds after payment and refused to make up for the overpayment. Unreal. - We were never supplied any kids slippers or yukata to wear around hotel and staff seemed happy to observe by 4 and 6 year olds stumbling around the hotel in adult slippers and never offered to rectify. There was no kids supplies of any kind only adults sizing - Check-out we were charged onsen tax which is fine. The laminated notice they provided at check-out said 150yen each. After handing over cash she said no actually its 300yen. Baffled I said it says 150 on the sheet right here you just gave me. She said that is wrong and needs to be updated. OK. - We were early to the buffet dinner and with plenty of window tables free overlooking the lake I asked if we could sit at one. The waiter staff said no they are full when clearly the tables were empty!? He sat us in the main area right next to the food area in a high traffic area. During our meal I saw other families and couples seated in the good spots after us so clearly they were no full. Maybe my yukata was tied on the wrong side. - Hotel guide we were given said fireworks were on at 8:45pm. After 9pm rolled around I called reception and they said fireworks are cancelled until July even though room guide says they start in April. No big deal but feel as an main area attraction this perhaps could have been communicated at check-in. - No ice or vending machines at hotel which is normal for even the most budget hotels in Japan - you need to walk a few blocks to convenience store. - Luggage trolley was never collected and sat outside our room for the duration of our stay. All in all, considering the great reviews I was surprised at the low level of guest service and poor treatment of my family. Felt mis treated from the get go and it lasted to the end. Maybe staff are coming back from covid leave and forgot how to treat customers. To be fair, the onsen is nice and food is OK, but plenty of other options around the lake that might value non-japanese guests and treat them with same basic respect and fundamental hospitality. Ryan

We had two nights here, in a private onsen room on the top floor. Marvelous. They are strict on check-in times so be ready for that. The welcome Haksup juice is delightful. The room was big and clean with wonderful views. We caught the Donan bus from Rusutsu and walked to the hotel. Buffet dinner and breakfast were included in our package. Lovely food, with a great variety. The staff, particularly Rem San, were so good. It's easy to catch a bus to Mt Usu. The stop is 100 m from the hotel. The Illuminated Walkway (winter) is lovely, and Lake Toya cruise is fun and quirky.

If your budget stretches, this hotel is tremendous. Boasting glorious views, an excellent spa, and a brilliant restaurant / buffet, I highly recommend Nonokaze. Further, the rooms with an in-room onsen are also lovely. The hotel is also a convenient base for exploring the lake and the cafes in town if you want to have lunch out. One of the best reasons to visit is a cycle around the lake, and we can recommend the Yama bicycle hire (opposite the bus terminal on the main "route 2" road, it is on google maps). The owner does not speak a lot of English, but has good signs and the bicycles are in excellent condition - something that is often hard to find in Japan. Prices are accordingly a little higher than other places, but for the 40km ride around the lake (which is pretty flat) it is really worth it. Is the ride worth doing? Yes - it is a lovely half day activity. Downsides? Not many. The only reason I would not rate this "Excellent" is that it is not cheap. But the service is very good - for example the way that the car parking worked was smart - leave the car, and on checkout it is already out and in the small front car park ready for you.

We stayed at this Onsen resort back in August 2019 when we did an overnight trip to Lake Toya in our 10 days Hokkaido trip. We love the floor to ceiling window where you have a panoramic view of Lake Toya, and a front row seat for the fireworks at night. We also love the top floor outdoor onsen especially early in the morning to admire the lake view while soaking in the hot tub. The buffet breakfast offer a wide selection of Asian and Western dishes. We also enjoyed the dinner buffet during our stay. There's not much to do outside of the resort as the town itself has a few shops here and there, and that's about it. An overnight trip was more than enough for us. We took a shuttle bus back to Sapporo and the staff all lined up and greeted us on our way out of the driveway.

Second time to Lake View Toya Nonokaze and I loved how everything still manages to work seamlessly!! The entire stay felt so relaxing! Highly recommend to upgrade the meal plan to the Japanese Kaiseiki (multi course), it’s a little expensive but definitely you get to experience more of the Japanese “omotenashi” , views from the room were superb unblocked views of Lake Toya and the rooftop onsen is a must try, you soak yourself in hot onsen, with the snow coming down on you above, simply amazing!! Thank you!
