This was our first trip away since being released from lockdown! We received a warm welcome and were reassured by the safety and hygiene measures that made us feel completely comfortable. Our room was spacious and inviting. Richard and all his staff could not have been more friendly and helpful including putting dining chairs in the garden for our second evening meal to make the most of the weather. The food was delicious and way above our expectations for a small country hotel. We highly recommend this hotel which is lovely for couples but also very child and dog friendly 😊

We had a lovely afternoon tea for my Mum’s birthday on Monday 18th. Everyone was very helpful when I made the booking and patient when I requested to change a few items to suit my parents tastes. The food was very tasty, very fresh and there was more than enough to eat. A beautiful building and a lovely experience, thank you.

My wife & I stayed 3 nights (bed & breakfast) on our first ever visit to Norfolk. This was a good base for exploring Norwich and northwards. We had a large comfortable room with a bed which encouraged deep sleep almost immediately. Bathroom facilities and shower were fine. Coffee and tea making facilities were replenished on request. WiFi was strong in our room (Mint). The hotel has a mature feel to it. The only facilities used, other than our room, was breakfast dining consisting of the usual suspects (full English or alternative, cereal, tea/coffee, toast, etc.) Evening meals were at the walkable Red Lion. Thankyou for a pleasant stay.

Hotel is in a good location, easy enough to get into Norwich , or get to interesting areas around Norwich.
Comfortable with a nice traditional feel, Richard and staff are great and always make you feel welcome. Nothing is too much trouble.
Rooms are comfortable and love the idea of naming rooms after herbs rather than numbers....Rosemary, Chervil etc .
Good food available in restaurant and breakfast ( cooked individually to order )is especially good.
Stayed 3/4 times now and held son's wedding reception here in October 2020, never been disappointed and would definitely recommend to anybody.

These maybe the best hotel staff I have come across. Friendly and helpful. The hotel needs a good dusting, too many cobwebs around for comfort. Food was very good, the ham eggs and chips was a delight I really wasn’t expecting, exceeding expectations. Excellent breakfast both days. Room was very good, ignoring the cobwebs, good shower, though the soap dispenser was hopeless, each depression of the nozzle gave you a pinheads worth, and that sometimes missed your hand!

My long term partner and I decided to finally ‘tie the knot’ after being together for 40 years and chose Stower Grange as our venue. We were not disappointed! Richard and his team could not have done more to make our special occasion perfect! Every staff member went above and beyond to make the day as stress free as possible, even to the point of ensuring we had music in all the appropriate places throughout the ceremony itself. The rooms were comfortable and inviting, the service excellent and the food totally delicious. This is not the only visit we will be making to this hotel, thank you so very much Richard and your excellent team.

My family and I visited Stower Grange today for an afternoon tea. Coffee was served in a cafetière and was really fresh. The sandwiches were tasty and we had a nice variety of ham, tuna, cheese & chutney and egg. Sausage rolls looked delicious and my veggie alternative was falafels - very nice. Scones were served warm with jam, butter and cream. 4 different cakes were provided (we had profiteroles, a coconut cake, a white chocolate blondie and a fruity ginger sponge). I would highly recommend this as it was a peaceful and quaint location, the staff were friendly and the food was great. It was also great value for money at just £19.50 each.

A hotel with it's style very much set back in the 80's / 90's - old school. Small number of rooms and oddly the check-in / reception is in the kitchen

Staff very helpful but really could pay much more attention to details in room cleaning etc.

Breakfast is great

The usual excellent service from Richard and his staff even when they are very busy. Stower now can cater for those who would prefer to eat outdoors which is a great idea if the weather allows.
Quality of food wonderful as is the available choice of wine. We are looking forward to a return visit soon.

A great, quaint, old school hotel that has a great deal to recommend it.
I was met and shown to my room, by Richard, the owner, who was professional and courteous.
The room was a good size and although slightly dated, this actually added to its charm.
I enjoy a warm room and the room was heated beautifully for me, although I suspect my wife would have wanted the window open all night as there was no thermostat except directly on the radiator, however, it was not a problem for me.
The TV signal was a little poor on a couple of channels which meant I had to be selective as to what to watch, but it was a minor niggle.
The food for the evening meal was good, I had the cod fillet and a decent dessert at a very reasonable price and the wine menu was fair with a decent selection.
Richard, hosted throughout and was extremely hospitable, friendly and professional whilst we had an interesting conversation about the hotel industry. The bed was comfortable with pristine linen.
All in all it was a refreshing change to the corporate chains that offer similarly priced accommodation.
The minor negatives were fairly poor shower pressure in the morning and an unwarranted wake up call at 7.45am when I was hoping for a lie in!
It may not suit everyone if you prefer modern and ‘hi-tech’ but I think it was well worth the money.
I would certainly return if I was in the area again.

No Gym. And as I try to "give them up" when I am away I have no idea if there is one locally, sorry. This hotel is a bit "olde worlde" with few mod cons (except wifi).

I agree with everyone else, call Richard or Sally, talk to them tell them what your requirements are and if anyone can help they will. You will not be disappointed you really won't. Stower Grange is just to best place and I think everyone else who has answered you will agree. As a resident of Norfolk I do not know anywhere else that will give you the service that they do. Good luck and make that call !!!!!

As the management says, no ground floor bedrooms or a lift. We were offered help carrying luggage up to the first floor. The staircase isn't narrow or difficult to negotiate.
