This hotel may not be classed as luxurious but what it offers is in many ways even better. The rooms are comfortable, scrupulously clean and interesting in their different themes. Staying here was more like living in a welcoming household than being accomodated in an hotel. I came here with a small group of English people wanting to learn some conversational Spanish. Despite my shameful lack of understanding I did not feel at all embarrassed to try and learn something of the language and Karen was so encouraging that after returning home I downloaded a programme of simple lessons to practice, with a view to coming back next year. As well as the excellent hospitality of Karen, Martin, Anna and Walter, we also benefited from several visits to explore the surrounding area, including a trip to the beatiful city of Burgos with Ricardo, a friend of Karen & Martin's. Finally, the food ..... for 4 days we were provided with plentiful quantities of simple Spanish home-cooking and local wine that was absolutely first rate. We even got a cookery lesson from Anna. Thanks to all the team for an unforgettable stay.

We came here as an experimental group of 9 English people to learn Spanish and to find out about this part of Spain. It was the first time they had tried this. This is real spain and not the spain of the Costas so is a very different experience from a normal Spanish holiday. We hired a car at Madrid airport but the rest of the group came by minicab and visits were made in this way too. We had lessons in the morning and visits to local historical and geograhical places of interest in the afternoons. There is a lot to see in the area and we should really come back as we were only here for 5 nights. They were a bit taken aback by the differences in our language experience so will probably need to tailor the teaching for indivual needs in the future to differentiate expectations and outcomes but we were all enriched in some way and were able to take something from the teaching and the visits Karen and Anna took care of us so well and the food was copious and lovely. Martin enthused about his ecologically friendly approach to building. Ricardo was our guide in Burgos. The pictures on the TripAdvisor site are accurate. Everybody was thoughtful and welcoming and we loved them all! It can be cold so take layers in case it warms up which can also happen. The underfloor heating and insulation keeps it warm.

I might be on a hype because I had the most amazing time at a very unconventional 3-day wedding party at the casa rural...but I think it's just a wonderful place to relax, sleep, eat and ejoy the beautiful countryside and villages in the area. Karen and Martin are lovely, so friendly and honest, they make the experience even better. The rooms are individually styled amd inspired to different parts of the world and a lot of attention was put in every detail. All the same they're simple and unpretentious and just what you need for a relaxing and refreshing break in the country. I would recommend that anybody travelling to the area stops over for at least a night. And go say hello to the burros :)
