The owner and his wife were both very welcoming. I had one of the little chalet type rooms behind the main hotel which I think was probably preferable as it was lovely and quiet on the whole. I did get woken up by I think it was a noisy fridge one night but other than that slept well and the bed was really comfy too. Only downside was there was no WiFi in the chalets at present as the owners are in dispute with their Internet provider. Personally I got round the issue by using my phone as a Hotspot though. I would stay again, as it was nice and central, very quiet in the chalets, and the room was nice, and it was clean and tidy which are all things I look for when booking.

When you arrive at the Dolphin Hotel it does not look very promising. However, once you have driven through the narrow entrance and been welcomed by Rob, the owner, it is a different story. We stayed in one of 5 individual chalets for two people built behind the hotel/pub, with comfortable amenities including a fridge and microwave. The hotel does not do food, but there is a Wetherspoons pub (the Cerdic) directly opposite where you can get meals at any time of day. Also a very nice restaurant A Bite to Eat next door in the old Wesleyan Chapel. We enjoyed our stay very much. Noone bothered us and it was very quiet and easy going. Would recommend it to any couples wanting a place to stay in Chard. We hope to go back.

We stayed a couple of nights at the Dolphin Hotel with our two children (aged 11 and 13). The rooms are individual chalets and are very clean and comfortable. Our room had a modern bathroom with a lovely shower. The owners are delightful and couldn’t have been any more welcoming and helpful. I am very happy to recommend their hotel to others and to wish them well for the future.

Although the rooms are clean comfy have sky tv microwave fridge ( which is a bonus) & of course tea making facilities the carpark is great but you need a small car to get to it between the pub & the business next door you can’t get a Range Rover size as the is to little room & a few angles to get to it
