We did not even know anything about Chard when visiting the Somerset/Dorset area and booked this place as it looked promising, and it certainly was! The manager is very helpful and looked after us as she did the others staying there I am sure! The rooms are functional and well appointed, and though there is no designated car park as such, there is parking around the back to make use of for a few cars (you need to be good at reverse parking!). Breakfast provided solid fuel for the rest of the day, but the dinners were exceptional. If one asks nicely, given that the menu is effectively fusion cuisine, then special items may be requested; we asked for some nasi goreng, and this was so good we ordered it again! Also, there is a Sainsbury's nearby and some interesting shops to visit, like the local bakery next door, and the hotel was a good focal point to go visit surrounding Somerset/Dorset. We certainly enjoyed our stay there!

We were travelling down to St Ives and decided to stay overnight to break the journey as we were in no hurry. Chard was about halfway and we chose the Bath House as it also had a restaurant. We were so glad we did - our room was just perfect - roomy, comfortable bed and a lovely bathroom, with a bath and huge shower. Everywhere was immaculately clean, including the restaurant which serves great Malaysian style food as well as steaks. My husband is still raving about the veg spring rolls and the panko chicken that he had. I had the platter to start and the shredded duck to follow - it was actually another starter but plenty big enough. We finished off with scrummy ice cream and the whole meal came to just £80 including drinks. We are back in st Ives in March and will definitely stay at the Bath House again. Friendly owners and staff were the icing on the cake!

We visited the Bath House Hotel for dinner on our Wedding Anniversary. The staff were friendly, the food was excellent, and the place was spotless. It was one of the best meals we have had for a long time. We would thoroughly recommend this restaurant. and will certainly visit again when in the area.
