There's a lot of dining service and Michelin Stars restaurant at Grand Lisboa also.
I will definitely be back. THANK YOU!
It has a grandiose vibe and plenty of glitz and shimmer throughout. There are six restaurants to choose from, plus a salon, spa, and a small, heated indoor pool. Rooms are spacious and traditionally elegant, with lavish furnishings such as heavy curtains and rich bedding, but the decor can look dated when compared to other hotels in the area.
My husband and I stayed here from August 14-16. My husband arrived earlier on in the afternoon and checked in before me. The person at the check in counter asked whether he wanted to leave HKD500 in cash or his credit card on deposit.
Despite requesting a non-smoking room, we were assigned a smoking room and I spent my evenings coughing away. This was our 5th stay in the past 12 months and apart from getting a smoking room and no upgrade we didn’t have much to complain about.
On our second day I spent some time at the spa. I liked the fact that this was a Clarins Spa and located right downstairs. You could literally put on a robe, take the elevator downstairs, have your massage, and then go back to your room to relax.
Following the massage, I discovered that they would not allow me to charge my massage to my room. I recall charging spa services on my previous trip and the spa receptionist explained that if we had given our credit card details when we checked in we would not have this problem.
Since I was wearing only a bathrobe and had no cash or credit card on me and the spa receptionist connected me with Fred Ma, the front desk receptionist by telephone. Although I explained to Fred Ma that I was not dressed properly and had money in my room, he insisted that I should go downstairs to the ground floor front desk to pay a further deposit. He also asked me how much money I intended to further spend at the hotel and if I was planning to spend more money at the hotel (ie., at restaurants/spa) I should pay a bigger deposit downstairs. Other people (both men and women) who had arrived at the spa were staring at me.
Fred Ma was really rude, loud and didn’t seem to hear that I was wearing just a robe. I felt humiliated and confused. The Grand Lisboa boasts that they are a 5-star hotel but why would they insist that I march downstairs to the front desk wearing nothing but a robe and slippers? Even if I had marched downstairs I would not have my wallet with me!
I asked Fred Ma if they could send someone from the front desk to my room so that I could give them my credit card details but Fred did not seem to understand. If they were a true 5-star hotel I would have thought this was the least they could have done given the circumstances!
The next day, while I stood in the “Cashier/Money Exchange” line to check out, Sarah the receptionist waved her hand at the line of people from the next desk over. I was next in line but she was processing people from the next line. Sarah gave me a nasty look and told me rudely that I should have heard her. Again, this hotel’s “5-star” service was disgusting me. We choose 5-star hotels for their service but this particular one treats their guests like dirt.
I was told that the only way to change the attitude of people like Fred Ma or Sarah the receptionist is to complain to Mr. Lun the front desk manager.
I do not recommend this hotel. Don’t stay here unless you want to be humiliated.
