What a great stay we had in Sir Joan. First the warm welcome and than the quality of the breakfast and the rooms And than the input of the reception into our short 4 days of vacation. First the easy rental and parking of the car. And than the bookings of the beachbars and restaurants We had thanks to the input of the reception desk 4 full booked and amazing days in Ibiza. It was our first time at Ibiza so we needed some guidance and we got the guidance by the staff of Sir Joan We are planning more stays at Ibiza and in Sir Joan. We fell for Ibiza. Warm greetings from Belgium Family Martlé
We booked this long weekend Ibiza at the last minute, as it was recently added to the UK green list, which meant that prices were astronomical. We had hopes that even at the inflated prices, Sir Joan would be worth the cost. I think it was a lovely hotel that probably would have been worth its normal price point, but unfortunately I don't feel like it lived up to what we ended up paying entirely. First, I would like to say that everyone we dealt with was absolutely lovely. Kind, polite, and accommodating people from the front desk, to the valet staff, to the restaurant. We paid for an upgrade to a deluxe room with the hope that we would get a better view (I feel like it even mentioned "more of a view" in the description). Unfortunately we were given a room that faced the traffic roundabout, an Ikea, and a PACHA billboard. We couldn't see water or boats or the town center if we tried. There was a balcony, but it wasn't pleasant to use. The rest of the room was nice enough, but probably not worth the upgrade. The configuration made the closet difficult to use, and the heavy bathroom door shut automatically, trapping damp air in the bathroom. We had to find ways of keeping the door propped open. One day we came back from the beach desperate for a shower and a nap under the aircon, but the power was out in our room. It was fixed within 20 minutes or so at the fuse box, however, which we were grateful for. The location seemed ok. It was our first time in Ibiza, and it felt a bit removed from the charm of the town center, but we could walk there in 15 minutes or so. We had an ok breakfast, but you might find better options venturing away from the hotel. The covid accommodations to the typical buffet didn't quite measure up. I wish we had the opportunity to try the restaurants for dinner, but we didn't. Finally, I'll say the most frustrating experience was around getting taxis. I know this isn't the hotel's problem, but there's a massive taxi shortage on the island, and the hotel has no special ability to get them. You might wait 2 minutes or 45 minutes. I don't blame the hotel for this! However, we did find that the front desk was regularly understaffed. We were running late for our flight out, and there was only one person working checkout, and spending an inordinate amount of time handling another customer's dispute over the value of a voucher. We nearly ended up writing our room number down and running out the door. It felt like at checkout time on a Sunday, you'd be sure to have more people helping guests, but no one seemed like they were in any hurry. While this review seems critical, I felt I needed to justify giving it an average score, while others have found it to be pretty great. To reiterate, had we paid the normal cost, I think we would have been quite happy, but the little things that didn't go well felt all that much more annoying at the premium price we paid.…
